Royals' Lucas Erceg: To IL with back injury
Erceg was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with a lower-back strain.
The most recent news was that Erceg was unavailable due to illness, but this back issue is likely the main reason he hasn't pitched since May 24. His IL placement is retroactive to May 27, so he could return June 12 against the Yankees if he misses the minimum amount of time.

White Sox's Miguel Castro: Moves to injured list
The White Sox placed Castro on the 15-day injured list Friday due to a torn patellar tendon in his right knee.
Castro suffered the injury during Wednesday's game against the Mets and is set to miss the rest of the season, and it's unclear if he'll be ready for the start of the 2026 campaign. The right-hander will likely be shifted to the 60-day IL once Chicago needs an opening on the 40-man roster.

White Sox's Jared Shuster: Opening Friday's game
Shuster will work as the opener Friday in Baltimore, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

The specifics of the injury are yet to be disclosed, but he won't retake the mound for the White Sox in 2025.

In that outing, the 37-year-old tossed five innings in which he allowed an earned run on six hits. In other moves Thursday, Seattle optioned Blas Castano to Triple-A Tacoma and designated Blake Hunt for assignment.

Matt Krook RP | ATH
Guardians' Matt Krook: Claimed by Guardians
The Guardians claimed Krook off waivers from the Athletics on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Columbus, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Krook was pushed off the Athletics' 40-man roster Tuesday after allowing two runs in 3.1 innings. Ben Lively (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day IL to make room for Krook on the 40-man.
