Yarbrough exited Friday's game against the Marlins with left groin tightness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Yarbrough was effective in Friday's start prior to the injury as he tossed 6.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks while striking out five. The severity of the injury is unclear, and whether he misses any additional time remains to be seen. If he's able to make his next turn through the rotation, he should take the mound on the road Wednesday against the Yankees.

Quijada was recalled from the Angels' alternate training site Friday.

Quijada was reinstated from the injured list Sunday and optioned to alternate camp, but he'll return to the 28-man roster after southpaw Patrick Sandoval was optioned in a corresponding move. Quijada made 34 relief appearances with the Marlins last season, posting a 5.76 ERA and 1.79 WHIP over 29.2 innings.

Loaisiga will start the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Mets, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

The Mets had a late-game rally in the first game of Friday's twin bill, and Loaisiga will attempt to quiet their bats to begin Game 2. Loaisiga has made six appearances (two starts) this season and carries a 2.77 ERA and 1.08 WHIP over 13 innings.

Giles (forearm) is ready to advance to live batting practice, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

He threw a side session Friday that went well, with Giles reporting feeling good physically, so the next step will be to face live hitters. The Jays' bullpen has been solid in the late innings, with Jordan Romano and Anthony Bass both pitching well of late. However, if Giles gets back to normal physically, he will likely take back the ninth inning duties.

Pearson (elbow) played catch from 60 feet Friday, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

The 24-year-old received good news earlier this week when he was diagnosed with a right flexor strain, and playing catch Friday is his first time throwing since landing on the injured list Aug. 19. Pearson is unlikely to be retaking the field anytime soon, but he may be able to return for the closing stretch of the season if all goes well as rebuilds the strength in his arm.

Honeywell (elbow) was added to the Rays' 60-man player pool Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

He had been working out and rehabbing from his most recent arm procedure, but this still marks an encouraging step as the team thinks he is far enough along that he could gain something by being at the alternate site. Honeywell is highly unlikely to pitch in the majors this season but he should be ready for spring training.

Coulombe was designated for assignment by the Twins on Friday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Coulombe joined the active roster last weekend and allowed two hits over 2.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts and three walks, but the Twins are opting to go in a different direction. The contract of Juan Minaya was purchased in a corresponding move.

Fairbanks has not allowed an earned run over his last seven appearances and has 10 strikeouts in 6.1 innings over that stretch, although he did allow an unearned run in a blown save in his most recent appearance.

After a shaky start to the year (6.43 ERA in first seven innings), Fairbanks has settled in as the pitcher the Rays thought they were getting when they traded Nick Solak to the Rangers for him in a two-player trade last July. The Rays' bullpen has been decimated by injuries, and while Diego Castillo seems like the top option for saves, Fairbanks and John Curtiss are also in that mix.

Yarbrough's scheduled start Thursday against the Orioles was postponed, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

The teams elected not to take the field Thursday in protest following the police shooting of Jacob Blake. It's unclear when the game will be made up or how the Rays will adjust their starting rotation.

Akin was optioned to Baltimore's alternate training site Thursday.

Akin spent just two days in the majors, retiring the only batter he faced in his lone appearance. He's an option to rejoin the big-league bullpen down the road. Jose Iglesias was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move.
