Stanek will open Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Stanek will get another opportunity to open after tossing two scoreless frames in Sunday's series finale against Baltimore. Jalen Beeks is expected to follow Stanek as the bulk reliever.

Chapman (2-2) took the loss Monday as the Yankees fell 5-4 to the Rays, striking out two but giving up three hits -- including a three-run home run by Travis d'Arnaud -- in an inning of relief.

While it was Chapman's fourth blown save of the year against 25 saves, this was actually the first time all season the Yankees had lost a game they were winning after eight innings. The veteran closer now sports a 2.45 ERA and 53:12 K:BB through 36.2 IP.

Cisnero pitched a scoreless inning Monday against Cleveland but was optioned to Triple-A Toledo following the game, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Cisnero owns a 3.27 ERA with nine strikeouts over 11 innings this season out of the bullpen, but he'll head back down to the minors following Monday's contest. Ryan Carpenter will be recalled to start Tuesday's game in a corresponding move.

Thornton (3-7) took the loss Monday as the Blue Jays were downed 10-8 by the Red Sox, coughing up five runs on five hits and three walks over 1.1 innings. He failed to strike out a batter.

A Michael Chavis grand slam in the first inning accounted for most of the damage against Thornton. The rookie right-hander will take a 5.25 ERA and 97:44 K:BB through 96 innings into his next start Saturday in Detroit.

Montero (elbow) has posted a 10.50 ERA with 10 strikeouts over six innings at Double-A Frisco this season.

Montero was forced to miss the entire 2018 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery, though he was able to return to game action with the Rangers' Arizona League affiliate in mid-June and has since been coming out of the bullpen at Double-A. The right-hander doesn't appear to have found his groove just yet, but he'll likely need a considerate amount of time to get back up to speed after rehabbing for a year.

The Royals recalled Barlow from Triple-A Omaha on Monday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Barlow will provide the Kansas City bullpen with some extra depth after the team summoned Brian Flynn from the relief ranks to make a spot start over the weekend following the trade of Homer Bailey to Oakland. Barlow has racked up 52 strikeouts in 36.1 innings with the big club this season, but a 6.19 ERA and 1.54 WHIP have limited his overall fantasy impact.

Betances (lat) played catch Monday, completing 25 throws from approximately 60 feet, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.

The flat-ground session represents Betances' first throwing of any kind since early June, when he was shut down after developing a low-grade lat strain. Because the injury is linked to the shoulder issue that had sidelined him since spring training, Betances' rehab program is expected to last multiple weeks before the Yankees contemplate activating him from the 60-day injured list. Betances' velocity reports more so than his results in any minor-league action will bear watching once he advances to pitching in games.

Giles (elbow) resumed throwing off flat ground Monday but won't be available in relief in the Blue Jays' series opener with the Red Sox, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Giles has yet to make an appearance in the second half after experiencing nerve inflammation in his elbow following a recent massage, but Toronto remains optimistic that the closer will avoid a trip to the injured list. Though the hard-throwing righty admitted he felt rusty while playing catch Monday, he reported no physical issues during the workout. Giles could take another step forward Tuesday by completing a bullpen session, which could be enough for the Blue Jays to clear him for game action.

The Tigers optioned Soto to Triple-A Toledo following Sunday's 12-8 win over the Royals.

After Soto closed out the first half as a member of the rotation, the Tigers shifted him to the bullpen coming out of the All-Star break. He was stellar in his lone appearance in long relief over the weekend in Kansas City, striking out three and allowing one hit and no walks over three scoreless frames in Friday's loss. Detroit may have chosen to send Soto back to Toledo so he can continue his development as a starter.

The Red Sox recalled Weber from Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.

He'll move up to the active roster as a replacement for long reliever Hector Velazquez, who was sent back to Pawtucket following Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Dodgers. Three of Weber's previous six appearances with Boston came as a starter, but he'll work out of the bullpen with the Red Sox recently acquiring Andrew Cashner from the Orioles to round out their rotation.
