Thornton (0-4) allowed five earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out one across two innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Twins.

Thornton ran into trouble early and often in Wednesday's start, with the big blows coming on a pair of two-run home runs. He was never able to got on track, finding the zone on only 37 of his 63 pitches and generating just two swinging strikes. The 25-year-old was coming off two strong starts during which he allowed only one earned run across 12 innings while whiffing 12. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, likely to come Tuesday at San Francisco.

Lopez (0-4) gave up six runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two through 2.1 innings in a loss to the Astros on Wednesday.

It was a night Lopez will want to forget as he allowed nine baserunners and three home runs in only 2.1 innings in the loss. The right-hander has given up at least four runs in each of his last five starts and this was his shortest outing of the season. The 26-year-old has a 0-4 record with a 6.07 ERA and 39:17 K:BB through eight starts this season. Lopez lines up to face the Rangers next week.

Fernandez was optioned to Triple-A Toledo following Wednesday's 10-3 win over the Angels.

Fernandez made four appearances after being promoted April 23 and gave up seven runs on six hits and five walks over 3.2 innings. Thursday's scheduled starter, Ryan Carpenter, will be recalled in a corresponding move.

Martin struck out one over a perfect inning to record his first save in Wednesday's 9-6 win over the Pirates.

The Rangers rallied with seven runs over the final two innings to present a save opportunity, the team's second since Jose Leclerc was removed as the closer, and Martin was flawless. He hasn't allowed a run in five straight outings while striking out nine and walking two over six innings. He and Shawn Kelley will share the closing duties until Leclerc re-establishes himself while pitching in non-save situations.

Miller allowed two runs on four hits with six strikeouts and one walk across four innings during a no-decision against the Pirates on Wednesday.

The only real blemish Miller had on the day was a homer yielded to Josh Bell, but that was a big blemish, as Bell deposited Miller's mistake into the river. Miller has struggled so mightily this season, Rangers manager Chris Woodward said last week he was considering moving him to the bullpen. Miller might have earned another start with this performance, but he still has ugly numbers -- 1-2 record, 7.48 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 19 strikeouts in 27.2 innings.

Vasquez was placed on the 7-day IL at Triple-A Rochester with a left shoulder impingement, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Vasquez made one appearance in the majors this year, which was a disaster as he he allowed three runs without recording an out. He had one bad outing at Triple-A (5 ER allowed) but has given up one run in seven other appearances. His 14.4 K/9 at Triple-A suggests he could get another chance in the majors this season despite his 6.48 ERA.

Graterol was removed from his start with Double-A Pensacola on Wednesday due to tightness in his trapezius, Darren Wolfson of SKOR North reports.

Graterol had allowed just two hits and one walk through 5.1 scoreless frames before exiting Wednesday's contest. Fortunately, his removal was deemed precautionary and the young right-hander is expected to make his next start on schedule, though the Twins will continue to monitor him carefully over the next few days.

Treinen (elbow) went unused Tuesday in the Athletics' 2-0 win over the Reds, but was spotted warming up in the bullpen in the ninth inning, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Manager Bob Melvin indicated prior to the game that Treinen would be available after recently battling elbow discomfort, and the closer's presence in the bullpen validated the notion that he'll be ready to go the next time a save situation arises. In normal circumstances, Treinen probably would have been summoned in the ninth inning, but Melvin elected to stick with starter Mike Fiers, who was able to finish off his second career no-hitter in 131 pitches.

Pearson allowed only two hits over five scoreless innings while striking out eight for Double-A New Hampshire on Tuesday.

The Jays' top pitching prospect got promoted to the Eastern League after six dominant starts at High-A and didn't miss a beat in his first outing for New Hampshire. Pearson's lack of innings since being drafted in 2017 probably means the organization will keep a tight leash on his workload, but the 22-year-old could very well finish his campaign at Triple-A if he keeps this up.

Loaisiga was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Mariners.

As expected, Loaisiga will take the rotation spot of James Paxton (knee), who was placed on the injured list over the weekend. With Paxton set to potentially miss three weeks, Loaisiga could stick in the rotation for another couple of turns, assuming he holds his own. Through three appearances (two starts) for the Yankees this season, the young right-hander has compiled a 2.70 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB in 10 innings.
