Stephen Gonsalves RP | LAD
Twins' Stephen Gonsalves: Battling elbow strain
Gonsalves will open the season on the injured list at Triple-A Rochester due to a left elbow flexor/pronator strain, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
The severity of the injury is not yet clear, but it's never good to see a pitcher dealing with elbow issues. If he gets healthy, Gonsalves has a chance to return to the big leagues at some point this season but will need to do much better than last year if he's to stick around, as he stumbled to a 6.57 ERA in 24.2 innings in his debut last year.

Ryne Stanek RP | STL
Rays' Ryne Stanek: Slated to open Monday
Stanek will serve as the Rays' opening pitcher for Monday's game against the Rockies.
Stanek made his season debut as a setup man in Saturday's win over the Astros, tossing two scoreless innings while picking up his first hold. The right-hander drew 29 starts as an opener a season ago and should continue leading off games regularly in 2019, likely covering no more than two frames on any occasion. Ryan Yarbrough is expected to enter Monday's contest after Stanek and cover the bulk of the innings.

Matt Moore RP | BOS
Tigers' Matt Moore: Earns quality start
Moore gave up no runs on two hits with one walk over seven innings in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Sunday. He struck out six.
Moore was exceptional, striking out six batters on his way to his first quality start of the season. It was a welcome sight for the left-hander, who struggled through a disastrous 6.79 ERA last year. The southpaw will look to keep rolling in his next start against Kansas City on Saturday at Comerica Park.

Trent Thornton RP | CHC
Blue Jays' Trent Thornton: Strikes out eight
Thornton gave up no runs on two hits with no walks over five innings in a no-decision against the Tigers on Sunday. He struck out eight.
Thornton set a new franchise record, striking out eight batters in his MLB debut. Even though his rotation spot is expected to be temporary, a performance like this does not hurt his chances for a more permanent stay. The right-hander is scheduled to make his next start Friday at Progressive Field.

Alex Colome RP | CHW
White Sox's Alex Colome: Slams door in series finale
Colome picked up the save after striking out one in a perfect ninth inning Sunday against Kansas City.
After beating out Kelvin Herrera for the closer's role in spring training, Colome was efficient in his first save opportunity of the 2019 season. He needed just 11 pitches (eight strikes) to retire the final three batters.

Jorge Lopez RP | WAS
Royals' Jorge Lopez: Surrenders four in loss
Lopez (0-1) took the loss and surrendered four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings Sunday against the White Sox.
Lopez made it through the first three innings of his outing unscathed, but things started to fall apart in the fourth when he allowed two runs on a pair of solo homers. He gave up two more runs in the sixth without recording an out, which, in the eyes of skipper Ned Yost, warranted his removal. While this likely wasn't the start to the season Lopez was looking for, he'll have a shot at redemption in his next scheduled outing Sunday against Detroit.

Blake Treinen RP | LAD
Athletics' Blake Treinen: Notches second save
Treinen recorded a save while walking one in a scoreless ninth inning during Sunday's 2-1 win over the Angels.
Treinen is up to 5.2 scoreless innings with two saves in 2019 after his incredible 2018 campaign. He's established himself as a top-tier closer, and he retains a strong hold on the job.

Ryan Borucki RP | SF
Blue Jays' Ryan Borucki: Targeting late-April return
Borucki (elbow) will throw off a mound sometime in the next week, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
Borucki is working his way back from left elbow inflammation, targeting a late-April return. If he returns before Clayton Richard (knee), he could re-enter the Blue Jays' rotation, though the team's plans remain unclear.
-
Daniel Norris RP | CLE
Tigers' Daniel Norris: Makes 2019 debut Saturday
Norris pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Blue Jays. He didn't register a strikeout while allowing two hits and two walks.
Norris came out for the sixth inning in relief of Spencer Turnbull, who beat him out this spring for the No. 5 spot in the rotation. Norris could wrestle away that starting role at some point if Turnbull struggles, but for now the lefty will have to settle for long relief appearances, which keeps him mostly off the fantasy radar.

Chris Devenski RP | NYM
Astros' Chris Devenski: Throws multiple innings
Devenski allowed one run on three hits and struck out three over two innings in a 3-1 loss to the Rays on Saturday.
Devenski entered to pitch the seventh inning with the Astros down a run and threw one clean inning before getting nicked for a run in the eighth. The right-handed reliever made a name for himself in 2017, delivering a high strikeout rate as a multi-inning reliever. He was on his way to a repeat performance in 2018, albeit without the multi-inning appearances, before a midseason hamstring injury derailed him. Earlier this spring, Devenski told Brian McTaggart of MLB.com that he learned about the process of being prepared daily and to take measures to ensure his body is ready to pitch as much as possible. His first outing of 2019 was an encouraging sign he'll be used as he was in 2017. "He fits right into our bullpen anywhere from early for a couple of innings or all the way to the back end if guys are needing a break," manager A.J. Hinch said.
