  • Ariel Jurado RP | TEX

Rangers' Ariel Jurado: Starting Friday vs. Mariners

Jurado is listed as the Rangers' probable starter for Friday's game against the Mariners.

Jurado was deployed as a "primary pitcher" out of the bullpen the last time his turn in the rotation came up Sunday in San Diego, with the right-hander working four innings and giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks. In light of those less-than-stellar results, the Rangers will shift Jurado back to a traditional starting role this time around, even though he hasn't been great in that capacity either. In his seven official starts, Jurado has posted a 6.69 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 3.3 K/9 over 35 frames.

  • Austin Pruitt RP | TEX

Rays' Austin Pruitt: Returns to majors Thursday

Pruitt will be called up from Triple-A Durham on Thursday.

Pruitt has spent the past seven weeks in the minors but is set to provide some additional depth in the Rays' bullpen for the final stretch of the 2018 campaign. During 20 appearances with the big-league club, he logged a 4.80 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 60 innings. Look for him to be utilized in low-leverage spots.

  • Hoby Milner RP | SEA

Rays' Hoby Milner: To join Tampa Bay on Thursday

Milner will be called up from Triple-A Durham prior to Thursday's game against the Blue Jays.

After being traded to Tampa Bay from Philadelphia in mid-July, Milner made a pair of appearances with the team and was then demoted to Durham, where he's spent the past two months. Across 19 outings with the Bulls, he logged a 3.18 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with a 24:3 K:BB in 17 innings.

  • Chih-Wei Hu RP | TB

Rays' Chih-Wei Hu: Set for promotion Thursday

Hu will be recalled from Triple-A Durham on Thursday.

Hu has appeared in just three games for the Rays this season, posting a 5.40 ERA and 0.80 WHIP with nine strikeouts in 10 innings of relief. Look for him to serve in low-leverage spots upon his arrival prior to the series opener in Toronto.

  • Twins' Stephen Gonsalves: Set for primary pitcher role

Gonsalves is expected to serve as the Twins' primary pitcher Wednesday against the Tigers, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Gonsalves made his first four appearances with the Twins as a starter, posting a miserable 11.68 ERA and 3.00 WHIP across 12.1 innings. In light of those struggles, the Twins opted to experiment with him out of the bullpen as a primary pitcher during his most recent turn in the rotation Sept. 13 against the Royals, with Gonsalves responding by tossing three no-hit innings. He'll work out of the bullpen behind opener Gabriel Moya again Wednesday and attempt to replicate the success he enjoyed his last time out.

  • Orioles' Jimmy Yacabonis: Draws start vs. Toronto

Yacabonis will start Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Yacabonis will make his first start at the big-league level since late August when he allowed six earned runs in a dreadful performance versus the Yankees. Since being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk earlier this month, he's logged a 4.82 ERA and 1.07 WHIP across three relief appearances.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Reinstated from disabled list

Chapman (knee) was activated from the 10-day DL prior to Wednesday's game against Boston.

Chapman will return to the fold after being placed on the disabled list Aug. 22 due to left knee tendinitis. He was able to ramp up activity over the past week, progressing from a side session to a bullpen and finally completing a simulated game Monday. Though he's expected to return to his duties as New York's ninth-inning man, manager Aaron Boone may choose to deploy him in a couple low-leverage spots before thrusting him back into the closing role. Across 50 appearances this year, he's posted a 2.11 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with a 16.1 K/9.

  • Twins' Trevor Hildenberger: Records seventh save

HIldenberger allowed a run on two hits in an inning of work but still came away with his seventh save of the season Tuesday against the Tigers. He struck out two.

Working with a three-run lead, Hildenberger allowed a hit and a run-scoring single as the hosts drew within two. He then uncorked a wild pitch, which brought a runner to third, but he was able to strike out the next batter to end the game. Hildenberger has now allowed seven earned runs over his last 2.1 innings.

  • Daniel Norris RP | CLE

Tigers' Daniel Norris: Allows two runs in loss to Twins

Norris (0-5) allowed two runs on five hits and three walks across 5.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Twins. He struck out five.

Norris cruised through the first five innings before running into trouble in the sixth, when he surrendered two runs on three hits and a walk before his removal with one out. The Tigers didn't provide any runs of their own until the seventh, sticking Norris with his fifth loss in as many decisions this year. This was actually one of the left-hander's most effective starts of the season, but he still owns an unsightly 5.71 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. He'll look to build on this effort Sunday against the Royals.

  • Athletics' Daniel Mengden: Fires four solid innings

Mengden pitched four innings Tuesday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out three against the Athletics. He did not factor in the decision.

Liam Hendriks served as the opener before Mengden took over in the second inning for another solid outing. This routine has been working of late, as an opener has pitched an inning before giving way to Mengden in each of his last three straight outings, and the 25-year-old is working to a 0.66 ERA and 0.44 WHIP over 13.2 innings in that span. He'll likely continue to be used in a similar capacity over the final two weeks of the season.
