  • Chris Devenski RP | NYM

Astros' Chris Devenski: Makes first appearance off DL

Devenski allowed one unearned run on three hits while striking out two over two innings in Thursday's loss to the Angels.

Devenski made his first appearance since being activated off the disabled list. The right-hander missed the last month due to a hamstring injury.

  • Yankees' Dellin Betances: Allows two homers, blows save against Tigers

Betances (4-4) blew the save and took the loss Thursday against the Tigers, allowing three runs on a walk and a pair of home runs. He struck out three.

After retiring the first batter he faced, Betances issued a walk and then served up home runs to Victor Martinez and Niko Goodrum -- players slugging .352 and .425, respectively. Betances has been brilliant on the whole this season and has a 27:2 K:BB in 14.1 innings since the All-Star break, but this hiccup could result in manager Aaron Boone turning to David Robertson the next time the matchups call for a right-hander in the ninth.

  • Brad Hand RP | ATL

Indians' Brad Hand: Notches save despite rocky outing

Hand allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out three in the ninth inning of Thursday's game against the Twins as he collected the save.

Hand surrendered a solo homer to begin the ninth frame, and after allowing the tying run to the plate, he managed to fan the final two batters on eight pitches. The 28-year-old has given up just three earned runs in 16 appearances (16.2 innings) since being traded from the Padres to the Indians on July 19.

  • Sean Manaea SP | NYM

Athletics' Sean Manaea: Unlikely to return in 2018

Manager Doug Melvin stated that Manaea (shoulder) has less than a 50 percent chance to pitch again this season, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.

Manaea was diagnosed with rotator cuff tendinitis Tuesday, and although he remains without a clear timetable for a return, it seems unlikely he'll toe the rubber again in 2018. If this is the case, he'll finish the season with a 3.59 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 108 strikeouts over 160.2 innings.

  • Luis Santos RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Luis Santos: Outrighted to Triple-A

Santos cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.

Santos will finish out the season with the Bisons after being designated for assignment earlier in the week and subsequently passing through waivers untouched. The 27-year-old owns a solid 2.85 ERA across 41 innings with Buffalo this season.

  • Ryan Brasier RP | TEX

Red Sox's Ryan Brasier: Back in action Wednesday

Brasier (foot) allowed one earned run on a solo home run across an inning of relief against the Marlins on Wednesday.

Brasier was able to return to the mound after being unavailable to pitch Tuesday due to a foot injury. He should be fully operational moving forward and is expected to be ready to go during Thursday's series opener versus the White Sox. On the year, he's logged an impressive 1.29 ERA and 18 strikeouts across 21 innings of relief.

  • Jose Alvarado RP | PHI

Rays' Jose Alvarado: Grabs sixth save

Alvarado earned his sixth save in a win over the Braves on Wednesday, firing 1.1 scoreless innings.

The southpaw needed just 14 pitches to record his four outs, the latest installment in what has been an extended stretch of impressive efforts. Alvarado owns a 1.46 ERA and 17:2 K:BB across the 12.1 innings encompassing his 13 August appearances, and he's hasn't allowed a hit in his last seven outings overall.

  • Jalen Beeks RP | TEX

Rays' Jalen Beeks: Nabs win vs. Atlanta

Beeks (4-1) got the win Wednesday, pitching three shutout innings with two strikeouts while allowing four hits and three walks against the Braves.

Beeks was tabbed as the long man in Wednesday's "bullpen" day, and though an hour and six minute rain delay limited his outing to just three innings and 49 pitches -- both of which were season-low totals since joining the Rays -- it was still enough to pick up the win for a third straight outing. The rookie southpaw has a 2.63 ERA with 24:13 K:BB in 27.1 innings since the start of August, and he figures to continue serving in a similar capacity down the stretch.

  • Twins' Trevor Hildenberger: Nails down fifth save

Hildenberger tossed a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his fifth save of the season in a 4-3 win over Cleveland.

He needed only eight pitches (seven strikes) to close things out. Hildenberger seems to have settled down a little since taking over as the primary ninth-inning option for the Twins, posting a 3.52 ERA in his last seven appearances while converting all five of his save chances, but his 6:4 K:BB in 7.2 innings over that stretch is far from dominant and he's likely to be a volatile fantasy asset down the stretch.

  • Ryan Borucki RP | SF

Blue Jays' Ryan Borucki: Hit hard by O's

Borucki didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 10-5 loss to the Orioles, coughing up five runs on eight hits over 4.2 innings while striking out two.

The rookie was staked to an early 4-0 lead, but Baltimore quickly stormed back and an Adam Jones grand slam in the fifth inning helped chase Borucki from the game. He'll carry a 4.52 ERA into his next start Tuesday at home against the Rays.
