Trevor Hildenberger RP | SF
Twins' Trevor Hildenberger: Could be in closer mix
Hildenberger could be in the mix for saves after the trade of Fernando Rodney to Oakland, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
The Twins may hold an audition or have a committee approach with Addison Reed, Trevor May and Matt Magill also possibly in the mix. Hildenberger has struggled recently by giving up seven earned runs in his last 2.2 innings, which could hurt his case. He's also given up too many long balls with nine home runs allowed in 56 innings, which could hurt his chances to finish games.

Trevor May RP | ATH
Twins' Trevor May: Could be in closer mix
May could be in the mix for saves after the trade of Fernando Rodney to Oakland, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
The Twins may hold an audition or have a committee approach with Addison Reed, Trevor Hildenberger and Matt Magill also possibly in the mix. After struggling initially in the minors in his return from Tommy John surgery, May has looked sharp in the majors with seven strikeouts in 3.2 innings, no walks and one run allowed. He's also averaging 94.4 mph on his fastball, which is higher than his average in any of his previous three major league seasons.

Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Picks up 43rd save
Diaz allowed a run in the ninth inning against Houston on Thursday but ultimately struck out the side to earn his 43rd save of the season.
Another day, another save for Diaz, although he did have one blemish -- a homer allowed to Tyler White. It was just the third home run Diaz has given up all season (56 innings). He's in the midst of a historic season as the Mariners' closer.

Tyler Duffey RP | KC
Twins' Tyler Duffey: Slated for promotion
Duffey is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Friday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
After Fernando Rodney was dealt to the Athletics on Thursday, the Twins are in need of a reliever, so they'll add Duffey to the 25-man roster. He's made seven appearances out of the bullpen for Minnesota in 2018, although he's accrued an ugly 6.35 ERA with eight strikeouts across 11.1 frames.

Ryan Borucki RP | SF
Blue Jays' Ryan Borucki: Picks up second straight win
Borucki (2-2) pitched five innings Thursday, giving up four runs on nine hits and three walks in the 8-5 win over Boston. He struck out two batters and allowed a home run while earning the victory.
It wasn't a good outing by any measure, but the rookie southpaw should be happy grabbing the win over a dangerous Boston lineup. After allowing two runs in the first inning, Borucki held Boston off the scoreboard until J.D. Martinez blasted a solo shot in the fifth. Even with the shaky stat line, the 24-year-old owns a 2.81 ERA in 48 innings this season. Borucki will get a much better matchup Tuesday against the Royals.

Fernando Rodney RP | ARI
Athletics' Fernando Rodney: Dealt to Oakland
Rodney was traded from the Twins to the Athletics on Thursday in exchange for Dakota Chalmers.
Rodney served as Minnesota's closer prior to the deal, recording 25 saves with a 3.09 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 50 strikeouts over 43.2 innings, although he failed to convert on six save opportunities. The Athletics already have an established closer in Blake Treinen, so Rodney will likely only see occasional save chances when Treinen is unavailable.

Ariel Jurado RP | TEX
Rangers' Ariel Jurado: Rocked for six runs in loss
Jurado (2-2) threw five innings and took the loss Thursday, allowing six runs on three walks and seven hits in the 7-3 loss to the Yankees. He yielded four homers and struck out just one batter.
Jurado was cursed with the home run bug against the Bronx Bombers on Thursday, with all six runs he allowed coming via the long ball. In his first three starts of the year, the rookie right-hander had allowed just one homer in 15.2 innings. Assuming he sticks around to make his next start, Jurado will have another tough matchup with the Rangers hosting Arizona on Tuesday.

Brian Johnson RP | BOS
Red Sox's Brian Johnson: Remains in rotation
Johnson will keep his spot in the Red Sox's rotation after the club decided to move Drew Pomeranz to the bullpen, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.
Due to Pomeranz's season-long struggles on the mound, Johnson will remain at the back end of Boston's rotation for the time being. Johnson's past two starts have been some of his least effective on the year, as he's allowed nine earned runs -- including five home runs -- across 12 innings, though his ERA of 3.45 prior to those outings appropriately displayed his performance level in 2018. With scheduled off days coming Monday and Thursday, it remains to be seen whether Johnson will take the hill during the club's two-game set in Philadelphia next week, as manager Alex Cora may choose to skip him and line up Rick Porcello and Nathan Eovaldi instead.

Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC
Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Moved to bullpen
Pomeranz will transition to a relief role as Brian Johnson takes his place in the rotation, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.
Pomeranz failed to impress the organization during his past three starts after coming off the disabled list in late July, during which he's logged a pedestrian 5.02 ERA and 1.74 WHIP with an 8:11 K:BB across 14.1 innings. Expect to see the left-hander utilized in low-leverage spots moving forward, though he could rejoin the rotation should additional injuries arise to the Red Sox's staff.

Mike Hauschild RP | HOU
Blue Jays' Mike Hauschild: Optioned to minors
Hauschild was sent down to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Hauschild will head right back down to the Triple-A level after a dreadful start against Boston on Wednesday. Across just 2.1 innings, he allowed four runs on three hits, three walks and one hit batsman while failing to record a strikeout. This came on the heels of an excellent six-inning relief outing versus Seattle last week, which marked his first big-league appearance of 2018. In a corresponding move, Thomas Pannone was recalled from Buffalo.
