  • Carlos Ramirez RP | CHC

Athletics' Carlos Ramirez: Sent right back to Triple-A

Ramirez was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Ramirez was called up Thursday and threw four innings in two days, allowing a pair of runs on a hit and three walks while striking out two batters. Josh Lucas was promoted from Nashville to take his spot in the bullpen.

  • Twins' Fernando Rodney: Grabs one-out save Friday

Rodney struck out the only batter he faced to collect his 15th save of the season in Friday's 6-3 win over Cleveland.

The Twins took a 6-1 lead into the ninth inning, but after Trevor Rogers coughed up a couple of runs, manager Paul Molitor elected to take no chances and brought in his closer. The 41-year-old Rodney has converted 15 of 18 save chances this season, and his 3.09 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 23:9 K:BB through 23.1 innings would be solid numbers for a pitcher a decade younger.

  • Jakob Junis RP | TEX

Royals' Jakob Junis: Allows six runs in loss Friday

Junis (5-7) allowed six runs on seven hits in a loss to the Astros on Friday, striking out three and walking one in 5.1 innings.

Junis surrendered three home runs in Friday's contest, the biggest one being a grand slam off the bat of Evan Gattis that knocked him out of the game. Junis has lost his last four consecutive starts despite having two quality starts in the span. The right-hander holds a respectable 79:20 K:BB in 85.1 innings, but he's surrendered 18 home runs on the year (which ties him for second-most allowed in the majors). He'll look to right the ship in his next start at home against the Rangers.

  • Matt Barnes RP | WAS

Red Sox's Matt Barnes: Blows save in loss

Barnes (0-2) took the loss and blew the save against the Mariners on Friday, giving up two earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts and a walk over his one inning of work in a 7-6 defeat for the Red Sox.

Barnes couldn't hold a 6-5 lead, relinquishing Boston's one-run advantage by giving up what turned out to be a game-winning two-run double to Denard Span. He's still putting up great numbers this season with a 2.93 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP and 41 strikeouts in 30.2 innings, but he's been vulnerable of late, giving up four earned runs over his last three appearances.

  • Edwin Diaz RP | LAD

Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Gets 26th save

Diaz worked around a hit and a walk, recording one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning to bag his 26th save of the season in Seattle's 7-6 victory over the Red Sox on Friday.

The flame-throwing righty made it an interesting ninth inning by allowing a leadoff single to J.D. Martinez and walking Xander Bogaerts, but he was able to work out of the jam and induce an Eduardo Nunez groundout to end the game. Diaz has been getting a ton of opportunities pitching for a Mariners team that seems intent on playing as many close games as possible, so as long as his teammates continue their taste for late-game theatrics, Diaz should continue to rack up saves at his league-leading pace.

  • Yankees' Jonathan Loaisiga: Shuts down Rays in MLB debut

Loaisiga (1-0) struck out six and picked up the win in Friday's 5-0 victory over the Rays, allowing three hits and four walks over five scoreless innings.

The rookie's control deserted him at times, not surprising for a 23-year-old making his big-league debut in pinstripes in Yankee Stadium, but Loaisiga was impressive when he was getting the ball over the plate, generating 17 swinging strikes out of 91 pitches (57 total strikes). Depending on how quickly Masahiro Tanaka (hamstring) gets healthy, Loaisiga could make two or more starts, with his next outing set for Wednesday at home against the Mariners.

  • Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL

White Sox's Reynaldo Lopez: Notches quality start in no-decision

Lopez allowed three runs on nine hits and struck out three through six innings in a no-decision Friday against the Tigers.

Lopez pounded the zone, as he tossed 73 strikes in 97 pitches, including 13 swinging strikes. The Tigers were able to put the ball in the air repeatedly, however, and the result was nine hits including a solo homer by John Hicks in the second inning. Still, Lopez continues to consistently go deep into games, as he now owns five quality starts in his last six outings. Unfortunately, thanks to the rough state of the White Sox lineup, he has pulled just two wins out of this hot streak. His next outing will come Wednesday against Cleveland.

  • Akeel Morris RP | SF

Angels' Akeel Morris: Returns to majors

Morris was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Morris has appeared in six games for the Angels this season, logging a 6.75 ERA and 2.04 WHIP with a 5:6 K:BB across 9.1 innings of relief. Expect him to serve in low-leverage situations while he's with the big-league team.

  • Angels' Eduardo Paredes: Recalled from Salt Lake

Paredes was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

The Angels made a flurry of roster moves prior to Friday's game and Paredes will help to provide a little extra pitching depth after recently being sent down to the minors. Over eight appearances at the major-league level in 2018, he's logged a 6.97 ERA and 2.03 WHIP.

  • Chris Martin RP | TEX

Rangers' Chris Martin: Lands on DL

Martin was officially placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

This move was backdated to Thursday so Martin will be eligible to return June 25. In a corresponding move, Jose Trevino was recalled from Double-A Frisco.
