  • Rays' Andrew Kittredge: Sent back to minors

Kittredge was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Monday.

The Rays will swap Kittredge out of their bullpen for Sergio Romo, whom the team acquired from the Rays over the weekend. Kittredge made three appearances during his first stint in the big leagues, tossing 2.1 innings and giving up one run while striking out three.

  • Danny Coulombe RP | BOS

Athletics' Daniel Coulombe: Another solid effort in series finale

Coulombe notched his seventh hold in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Mets, firing a scoreless seventh inning in which he recorded a strikeout.

The southpaw continues to roll along, with Sunday's outing marking his seventh straight without allowing a run. Coulombe notably saw action in each of the three games versus the Mets, and he should enjoy a similarly robust workload for the time being with the Athletics' bullpen down a lefty due to Sean Doolittle's trade to the Nationals.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Athletics' Blake Treinen: Sees work for third straight day

Treinen notched his third hold in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Mets, firing a scoreless inning and recording a strikeout.

The 29-year-old has been very busy as of late, with Sunday's appearance marking his third in as many games and fifth overall since being acquired from the Nationals on July 16. The new Oakland digs have done Treinen some good, as the righty's allowed just an earned run over five innings while racking up four strikeouts in an Athletics uniform. He could be worth monitoring in AL-only and deep formats that count holds, given that manager Bob Melvin appears willing to afford him plenty of opportunities.

  • Athletics' Kendall Graveman: Roughed up in second rehab start

Graveman (shoulder) made his second rehab start with Triple-A Nashville on Monday, serving up seven runs (three earned) on nine hits and one walk over three innings.

Graveman upped his pitch count to 65 after tossing 46 in his first start with Nashville on July 19, but the results were once again unimpressive. According to Nashville play-by-play broadcaster Jeff Hem, Graveman displayed his normal velocity during the start, so it sounds like the shoulder isn't hampering him too much. Even so, the Athletics would like to see Graveman tidy things up in the minors before being activated from the 10-day disabled list, so expect him to make at least one more start with Nashville.

  • Alan Busenitz RP | CIN

Twins' Alan Busenitz: Returns to Minneapolis

Busenitz was recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

Busenitz has succeeded in both the majors and the minors this season, so he'll return to the big leagues to replace Craig Breslow on the active roster after the veteran was designated for assignment. Busenitz doesn't seem to be in line for any high-leverage innings, although he does have a nice 39:10 K:BB in 35.1 innings with the Red Wings, which would add some value in deep formats if he can translate it to the big leagues.

  • Zack Burdi RP | LAD

White Sox's Zack Burdi: Officially tabbed for Tommy John surgery

Burdi (elbow) is scheduled to undergo Tommy John later this week, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

The worst-case scenario will in fact come to fruition, as Burdi will now likely be knocked out of competitive game action until the 2019 campaign. The hard-throwing right-hander posted a 4.05 ERA and a 51:17 K:BB in 33.1 innings pitched out of Triple-A Charlotte's bullpen this season, but he'll have to focus on rehabbing his injured elbow for roughly the next year and a half.

  • Emilio Pagan RP | CIN

Mariners' Emilio Pagan: Another dominant multi-inning outing

Pagan fired three scoreless innings in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Yankees, allowing two hits and a walk while recording four strikeouts.

Pagan has been lights-out in his current Mariners stint, allowing just one earned run over 10.1 innings across four appearances. Sunday's effort was his second three-inning, two-hit scoreless outing versus the Yankees in the weekend series, which served to lower his ERA from 3.60 to 2.57. The 26-year-old right-hander has undoubtedly earned the confidence of manager Scott Servais, which could certainly lead to a robust workload for the balance of the campaign.

  • Brad Boxberger RP | CHC

Rays' Brad Boxberger: Done in by long ball Sunday

Boxberger (2-2) allowed three earned runs on two home runs in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Rangers. He also issued a walk and recorded two strikeouts.

Boxberger has gone backwards over his last two appearances after a strong start, and Sunday's result was particularly crushing. Asked to preserve a 5-3 lead in the eighth, the right-handed reliever allowed a game-tying two-run shot to Rougned Odor and a go-ahead solo blast to the very next batter, Carlos Gomez. The outing resulted in Boxberger's first blown save opportunity of the season and also served to raise his ERA from 1.42 to 4.91. Despite the recent pair of stumbles, Boxberger's performance over his first six appearances (six scoreless innings) and past body of work provide plenty of reason for optimism moving forward.

  • Adam Kolarek RP | LAA

Rays' Adam Kolarek: Notches first major-league hold

Kolarek was credited with his first hold in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Rangers after working around a hit in two-thirds of an inning.

Kolarek has been serviceable thus far in what is his first exposure to the majors, and he's now logged his first big-league victory and hold in the last three outings. The 28-year-old southpaw represents a valued left-handed relief option for manager Kevin Cash, especially while Xavier Cedeno (forearm) remains on the mend.

  • Ryan Borucki RP | SF

Blue Jays' Ryan Borucki: Shines in Double-A debut

Borucki, 23, twirled seven shutout innings for Double-A New Hampshire in his Eastern League debut Sunday. He scattered two hits and two walks while whiffing four batters.

Borucki struck out one of the Yankees' top prospects, Jorge Mateo, on three pitches to begin the contest, and that proved to be a harbinger of what was to come. The young lefty, who posted a 3.58 ERA and 109:27 K:BB in 98 innings for High-A Dunedin prior to his promotion, has earned plaudits from scouts for his advanced changeup and ability to sequence three pitches effectively, but a checkered health history that includes Tommy John surgery in 2013 somewhat dings his long-term outlook.
