  • Yankees' Giovanny Gallegos: Returns to minors Sunday

Gallegos was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Gallegos received the call to join the big-league club on May 11 but was generally ineffective (5.06 ERA) in his 5.1 innings of relief work. He'll return to Triple-A while Bryan Mitchell will take his spot on the 25-man roster.

  • Jakob Junis RP | TEX

Royals' Jake Junis: Recalled ahead of Sunday's start

Junis was recalled from Triple-A Omaha and will start Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The 24-year-old had made two clean relief appearances for the big-league club earlier this season, but Sunday's start will be the first of his career. In five starts with Triple-A Omaha, Junis holds a 3.07 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and an impressive 36:7 K:BB ratio. He'll face a Twins team that has posted a collective .759 OPS as a team against right-handed pitching this season.

  • Matt Andriese RP | MIA

Rays' Matt Andriese: Notches win despite struggles

Andriese (4-1) struck out five and gave up five earned runs on six hits in five innings in a 9-5 win over the Yankees on Saturday.

Andriese was done in by some hard contact, surrendering a solo home run to Aaron Judge in the second inning, a two-run double to Chase Headley in the fourth and another solo blast to Gary Sanchez in the fifth. The five earned runs were a season high for the 27-year-old right-hander, and the game also marked the second outing in which he gave up a pair of homers. However, thanks to some run support, Andriese escaped with his third win over his last four trips to the mound. He'll look to keep the momentum going at home against the Dodgers next Thursday.

  • Edwin Diaz RP | LAD

Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Nears return to closer role

Diaz could return to his role as Seattle's closer in the near future, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Diaz pitched two shutout frames in Friday's loss to the White Sox, striking out two and allowing two hits. Although manager Scott Servais didn't pinpoint when Diaz would be reinstated as the team's closer, it appears that a lot is riding on his next outing, as Servais went on to say, "We'll take one more good one and see where we're at." Before he was removed from his role as the Mariners' closer, Diaz had blown two of his nine save opportunities.

  • Ryan Weber RP | NYY

Mariners' Ryan Weber: Still not throwing

Weber (biceps) has yet to resume throwing, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

He'll remain shut down from any throwing activities until his injury symptoms subside. Weber was placed on the DL on May 14, so he's likely on track to miss more than the minimum 10 days. The Mariners have yet to outline a timeframe for his return, but one should become available when his level of activity increases.

  • Sean Manaea SP | NYM

Athletics' Sean Manaea: Picks up second win Saturday

Manaea (2-3) allowed three runs -- two of which were earned -- on five hits while striking out three over five innings to earn the win Saturday against the Red Sox.

Manaea left the contest with a 3-2 deficit before the offense erupted with five runs in the bottom of the fifth to earn him his second victory of the campaign. Despite the decent outing, he's only had a single quality start all year, and his 5.24 ERA makes him a risky player to use in fantasy lineups. He'll make his next start Saturday against the Yankees.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Fans six Saturday

Pomeranz (3-3) allowed two runs, one of which was earned, on five hits and two walks while striking out six over four innings in a no-decision against Oakland on Saturday.

Pomeranz was coming off a start in which he left with triceps tightness, and he burned through 97 pitches, leading to his early exit from the contest. He's allowed nine runs over his last 11 innings covering his last three appearances to raise his ERA from 4.00 to 4.97, but overall he's had enough strong starts to make him a reasonable fantasy option. He'll make his next start Friday against the Mariners.

  • Jose Leclerc RP | SD

Rangers' Jose Leclerc: Shut down with finger tendinitis

Leclerc has tendinitis in his right middle finger and has been shut down for several more days, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

He received an injection Saturday and will not be able to resume his rehab until sometime next week. It is unclear when he will be able to return from the disabled list.

  • Cesar Valdez RP | LAA

Blue Jays' Cesar Valdez: Called up by Blue Jays

Valdez was recalled by the Blue Jays on Saturday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.

The Blue Jays recently claimed Valdez after he was designated for assignment by the A's. He was touched up for three or more runs in three of his four outings with Oakland earlier in the season. He'll add some depth to the Blue Jays' bullpen, likely as a middle reliever with the capability to go multiple innings if needed.

  • Athletics' Daniel Mengden: Activated from DL, optioned to minors

Mengden (foot) was activated from the disabled list Saturday and optioned to Triple-A Nashville.

Mengden underwent foot surgery in February after suffering a stress fracture in a bullpen session, but has looked solid in recent rehab starts over the past couple weeks. If all goes well at Nashville, the 24-year-old could return to the Oakland rotation within the next month, though he'll need to prove his worth after posting an unimpressive 6.50 ERA over 14 starts in the big leagues last season.
