Mariners' Ryan Weber: Hits 10-day DL
Weber was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday due to a right biceps strain, Bob Dutton of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Weber was diagnosed with the injury after meeting with a doctor following his spot start Saturday against the Blue Jays, during which he gave up one run over 3.2 innings. The right-hander was only making a start for the Mariners with several key rotation members dealing with injuries, and his move to the DL will likely instead prompt the team to bring aboard another starter from the minors when a fifth starter is needed again. In the meantime, the Mariners promoted Dan Altavilla from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move to provide an extra arm out of the bullpen.

Nick Martinez SP | TB
Rangers' Nick Martinez: Turns in quality start Saturday
Martinez tossed six innings and give up three runs in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Athletics, but didn't factor into the decision. He scattered seven hits and a walk and struck out one batter.
Martinez has delivered quality starts in three of his five turns for the Rangers and has reached the sixth inning in all of those outings. While Martinez has shown a spike in his velocity this season, it hasn't translated to more strikeouts, as he's averaging a pedestrian 4.5 K/9 rate. Nonetheless, the fact that Martinez is giving the Rangers quality innings should be enough to keep him in the rotation until Cole Hamels (oblique) is back from the disabled list.

David Robertson RP | PHI
White Sox's David Robertson: Picks up second victory
Robertson (2-0) pitched a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts to earn his second win of the season Saturday against San Diego.
Despite pitching well to start the season (2.13 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 14.2 K/9), Robertson has only collected five saves. Picking up Saturday's win was a welcomed bonus. Unfortunately, despite the fact they're only 3.5 games back in the division, the rebuilding White Sox don't project to be that close during the summer. Robertson is unlikely to see a notable uptick in save opportunities.

Dylan Covey RP | ATL
White Sox's Dylan Covey: Fans nine Friars
Covey allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out nine batters during Saturday's win over the Padres. He did not factor into the decision.
After striking out just 11 batters through 25 innings over his first five starts, this was a breakout showing in the strikeouts column. However, Covey's 7.98 ERA and 1.88 WHIP are crippling ratios, and he also posted an underwhelming 6.4 K/9 through 369 innings in the minors. Covey lines up for a road start against Seattle next week.

John Axford RP | MIL
Athletics' John Axford: Tosses tidy rehab frame Saturday
Axford (shoulder) logged one scoreless inning of relief for Triple-A Nashville on Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. He threw 12 pitches (eight strikes) and struck out one batter.
Axford didn't allow a hit or a walk, according to John Hickey of the East Bay Times. He may return in the coming days to reclaim a high-leverage role in the Athletics' bullpen, and with Santiago Casilla blowing his second save chance of the season Friday, perhaps Axford will earn the occasional closing opportunity. AL-only closer seekers could take a low-cost chance on him.

Ryne Stanek RP | STL
Rays' Ryne Stanek: Gets called up Saturday
Stanek was recalled by the Rays on Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Stanek's promotion comes after the Rays sent starter Blake Snell down to Triple-A Durham. Stanek has had an excellent start to his season with Durham, notching a 2.00 ERA with 25 strikeouts and six walks in 18 innings. He'll work out of the bullpen when he joins the Rays.

Craig Kimbrel RP | KC
Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Shuts down Rays for 11th save
Kimbrel pitched a clean ninth inning Saturday against Tampa Bay, striking out two to earn the save in a 6-3 victory.
Kimbrel is now 11 out of 12 in save tries on the season, and hasn't allowed an earned run in nearly a month. Over his last seven appearances since the blown save, he's tallied 16 strikeouts and not walked a single batter. Kimbrel is dialed in at the moment, and is as valuable as they come when looking for saves.

Ryan Weber RP | NYY
Mariners' Ryan Weber: Set to have shoulder examined
Weber is set to meet with a doctor in Toronto on Saturday to have his right shoulder examined, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
This adds to the concern surrounding Weber, who left Saturday's start in the fourth inning with what has been diagnosed as right shoulder tightness. The Mariners will send him to a specialist for further examination, at which point there should be more clarity on the severity of his injury. If he requires a DL stint, it'll be another blow to what is an already beleaguered Mariners pitching staff.

Michael Tonkin RP | MIN
Twins' Michael Tonkin: Passes through waivers
Tonkin cleared waivers and was assigned to Triple-A Rochester on Saturday, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
As expected, Tonkin will remain in the Twins organization as a farmhand. Given his 6.52 ERA in the majors this season, he'll likely just act as an organizational depth piece from now on.

Ryan Weber RP | NYY
Mariners' Ryan Weber: Injury dubbed as right shoulder tightness
Weber was diagnosed with right shoulder tightness after exiting Saturday's start prematurely.
Initial reports reported that the right-hander was clutching his biceps as he was leaving the contest, but the team medical staff has revealed that the issue actually lies within his shoulder. It's still unclear whether or not he'll need a DL stint, but more information on that front should come forth in the coming days.
