Tyler Duffey RP | KC
Twins' Tyler Duffey: Loses Friday versus Indians
Duffey allowed five runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk across five innings in Friday's loss to the Indians. He struck out six.
Duffey was recalled from the minors to make his first big league start since August, and while three of the four runs he allowed in the third inning were unearned, it was his own throwing error that proceeded them. Duffey's season ERA now sits at an uninspiring 6.13, but he will remain in the rotation and will make his next start Wednesday versus the Tigers.

Fernando Rodriguez RP | BOS
Athletics' Fernando Rodriguez: Undergoes surgery Friday
Rodriguez underwent surgery Friday to repair a lat injury, Joe Stiglich of CSN California reports.
Apparently, everything was successful and doctors were able to repair the torn muscle. Rodriguez now faces an extensive rehab process; with the right-hander not expected to pick up a baseball for fourth months, he may be limited at the start of spring training. Rodriguez posted a 4.20 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and five holds in 34 appearances with the A's this season ahead of his first winter of arbitration eligibility.

Trevor May RP | ATH
Twins' Trevor May: Reinstated from DL Friday
May (back) was reinstated from the DL on Friday.
He has been sidelined since Aug. 6 with a back ailment, but will slot into a setup role with the Twins over the final three weeks of the season. May's 59:16 K:BB in 42.1 innings this season lends hope to the idea that he could pitch his way into the closer's role during the 2017 season.

Matt Strahm RP | KC
Royals' Matthew Strahm: Away for personal reasons Friday
Strahm is away from the team Friday to attend his grandfather's funeral, the Kansas City Star's Rustin Dodd reports.
Those who have been using Strahm for his ratios and strikeouts in leagues with daily roster moves will want to be aware that he is not an option out of the bullpen Friday. He will return to the team Saturday.

Michael Tonkin RP | MIN
Twins' Michael Tonkin: Hopes to return next week
Tonkin (shoulder) hopes to be cleared to return after throwing from flat ground Saturday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
He threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Friday, throwing all of his pitches, and will throw from flat ground again Saturday in hope of getting cleared by the medical staff. His 25.5 percent K-rate is solid enough, but his 4.30 ERA and 1.41 WHIP leave a lot to be desired.

Tommy Layne RP | STL
Yankees' Tom Layne: Credited with win Thursday
Layne faced just one batter Thursday -- notching a strike out -- and got the win over the Rays.
Layne came into a tied game in the ninth inning with two outs for a lefty-lefty matchup, and was the beneficiary in the win column of Tyler Austin's walk off homer in the home half of the inning. The southpaw has been highly effective since joining the Yankees, as he's working on a 2.79 ERA and 0.83 WHIP in pinstripes, but he's been used on an almost exclusively matchup basis. Layne has faced just one batter in each of his last five appearances, though it's allowed him to rack up eight holds in 17 outings.

Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Whiffs two for save No. 13
Diaz struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Thursday against the Rangers for his 13th save.
Diaz had a few rocky outings in August, but he's stabilized things in September so far and has still blown only one save chance since taking over the ninth in Seattle. His fantasy owners have also enjoyed a huge pile of strikeouts -- 73 in 41 innings, good for a 16.02 K/9 that leads all pitchers who've thrown more than 10 innings this year.

Matt Strahm RP | KC
Royals' Matthew Strahm: Returns to action Wednesday
Strahm (biceps) appeared in Wednesday's game against the Twins, recording one out while allowing one hit to get the Royals out of the seventh inning.
He was dealing with mild biceps tendinitis earlier in the week, and is likely still not quite 100 percent, but he's healthy enough to pitch. Strahm has been a lights-out reliever since joining the big league bullpen after working as a starter in the Texas League. However, after initially striking out 19 in his first 11.2 innings, he now only has two strikeouts in his last 5.1 innings, which might coincide with the tendinitis.

David Robertson RP | PHI
White Sox's David Robertson: Saves 35th game of year
Robertson picked up his 35th save of the season Wednesday, giving up a walk and a hit before shutting the door. He struck out two.
Robertson has now saved 35 games in 42 tries in 2016, not far from the 34 in 41 he put up a year ago. His 3.68 ERA and 1.40 WHIP aren't exactly dominating, but Robertson does boast a healthy 10.3 K/9 rate. At 31 years old, Robertson has seen his ERA climb in each of the past four seasons, a somewhat alarming trend. His cutter velocity has remained steady around 92 mph, but opponents are batting .277 off the pitch this year, the highest rate of his career.

Alex Colome RP | CHW
Rays' Alex Colome: Nabs 31st save
Colome struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to preserve a 7-6 lead against the Orioles.
Colome now has 31 saves in 33 tries, an excellent conversion rate. His peripherals are supportive as well, with a 2.05 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 4:1 K:BB ratio. While the Rays are in last place in the AL East by a mile, Colome has been a terrific fantasy contributor in 2016, making the most of teammate Brad Boxberger's early injuries and cementing himself as one of the league's most reliable closers.
