Indians' Austin Adams: Optioned to Triple-A
Adams was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
The Indians announced Saturday that Joba Chamberlain will make the Opening Day roster, which may have been what took Adams out of the equation. Adams has been effective this spring, striking out nine batters in 10.1 innings, but he'll start the season in Columbus. If one of the Indians' relievers struggles early this year, Adams would be a candidate for a call-up given he made 28 appearances at the big league level last year.

Andrew Bellatti RP | PHI
Rays' Andrew Bellatti: Still to give up an earned run during exhibition slate
Bellatti, competing for a bullpen role, has yet to give up an earned run over five appearances this spring.
The 24-year-old right-hander, who posted a 3-1 record and 2.31 ERA over 17 appearances with the Rays in his 2015 rookie campaign, has been effective in his quest for a bullpen slot. Although he was jostled between the minors and the big league club on multiple occasions last season, Bellatti showed sufficient promise so as to warrant an extended look during this year's exhibition slate. He's largely delivered, surrendering just four hits and an unearned run over his six innings of work. The control struggles that plagued him at times last season have also yet to manifest, with the only pair of free passes he's handed out coming in his initial appearance on Mar. 2. Considering his performance so far, Bellatti figures to be in the running for a spot on the Opening Day roster.

Matt Barnes RP | WAS
Red Sox's Matt Barnes: Another scoreless appearance
Barnes pitched two scoreless innings, giving up two hits while striking out two in Friday's game against Pittsburgh.
Barnes appears to have locked up the spot in the bullpen that became available when it was announced that Carson Smith (forearm) would open the season on the disabled list. The right-hander with the high-90s fastball may have earned the spot regardless, as he hasn't allowed a run and has an 11:1 K:BB in 10.1 spring innings. The key to his success is a tighter curveball he can throw for strikes, making his high-velocity heater more effective.

Matt Moore RP | BOS
Rays' Matt Moore: Will pitch against minor-leaguers in next scheduled start
Moore will pitch in a minor-league camp game on Sunday for his next scheduled start, Marc Topkin of Tampa Bay Times reports.
The 26-year-old southpaw has been impressive over 10.1 spring innings, and has generated a 1.74 ERA over three exhibition starts. As he opted to do with ace Chris Archer, manager Kevin Cash will have Moore face minor-league hitting as opposed to a division rival in the Blue Jays, the big-league club's opponent on Sunday.

Brad Boxberger RP | CHC
Rays' Brad Boxberger: Begins rehab process after surgery
Boxberger has begun light tossing as part of his rehabilitation from abdominal surgery, Greg Zeck of MLB.com reports.
The Rays closer, still on an eight-week timetable for a return to the field, said he recently started doing light tossing and will be focused on strengthening his core muscles throughout the process. "Just to be back here, to be back with the team, is a great feeling and [getting] back in the swing of things," Boxberger said. "From what the doctors said, it's based on how I feel with how it progresses. The better I feel, the faster it goes." The 27-year old tallied 41 saves for Tampa last season, and is expected to resume his closer's role upon his anticipated mid-May return. Rays manager Kevin Cash has indicated that a closer-by-committee approach will most likely be utlized in the interim, with hard-throwing Alex Colome likely to be the preferred option on many nights.

Matt Andriese RP | MIA
Rays' Matt Andriese: Returns to action after abdominal injury
Andriese tossed three innings Thursday and allowed one run on four hits in his first Grapefruit League game since March 8.
He appears to be OK health-wise, but Andriese may be ticketed to begin the season in the rotation at Triple-A with the Rays having their rotation healthy as Opening Day approaches. In Thursday's outing, Andriese pounded the strike zone effectively, throwing 30 of his 39 pitches for strikes.

Collin McHugh RP | ATL
Astros' Collin McHugh: Named No. 2 starter
McHugh will start the second game of the season for the Astros, the Houston Chronicle's Evan Drellich reports.
There was little doubt about where McHugh stood in the pecking order, but the Astros confirmed that he will start Apr. 6 against the Yankees. The 28-year-old righty topped 200 innings for the first time last year, and is a solid bet to do so again if he stays healthy, bringing with him a likely sub-4.00 ERA and sub-1.30 WHIP.

Craig Kimbrel RP | KC
Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Strikes out the side Thursday
Kimbrel pitched a scoreless inning Thursday, striking out all three batters faced in a game against the Mets.
Kimbrel has been dominant this spring, striking out nine batters and allowing just one hit in five innings. There have been some hiccups on the staff -- Eduardo Rodriguez (knee) will miss the start of the season, Clay Buchholz and Rick Porcello haven't pitched well, and relievers Carson Smith (forearm) and Koji Uehara (general soreness) are dealing with injuries -- but the back end of the bullpen appears secure with Kimbrel pitching in mid-season form.
