  • Kyle Finnegan RP | DET

Nationals' Kyle Finnegan: Locks up third straight save

Finnegan picked up the save Friday against the Twins. He didn't allow a run on one hit and one walk in one inning.

Finnegan allowed the first two batters of the inning to reach, but a soft lineout and a double play gave the right-hander his fourth save of the season. Finnegan allowed seven runs in his first three outings of the season but has rebounded by not allowing a run over his last five innings, lowering his ERA to 8.59.

  • David Bednar RP | NYY

Pirates' David Bednar: Nails down seventh save

Bednar struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his seventh save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Reds.

The right-hander needed only eight pitches (seven strikes) to dismiss Cincinnati's 6-7-8 hitters. Bednar's had an outstanding start to the season, and through 10 innings he's posted a 0.90 ERA and 12:1 K:BB while tying Toronto's Jordan Romano for the major-league lead in saves.

  • John Curtiss RP | ARI

Mets' John Curtiss: Sent down to Triple-A

Curtiss was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse by the Mets on Friday, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.

It's a bit of a surprise that it's Curtiss getting the demotion to make room for Joey Lucchesi, but the Mets will keep arms like Edwin Uceta and Jeff Brigham on the roster as multi-inning options. Curtiss figures to be back in the majors before too long.

  • Tommy Nance RP | TOR

Marlins' Tommy Nance: Throws bullpen session

Nance (shoulder) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Nance now has several bullpen sessions under his belt and should soon advance to a minor-league rehab assignment. He's missed the first three weeks of the 2023 regular season after developing some right shoulder soreness early in spring training.

  • JT Chargois RP | TEX

    Marlins' JT Chargois: Resumes throwing

Chargois (oblique) played catch from 60 feet Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Chargois has resumed throwing -- on flat ground for now -- 11 days after landing on the 15-day injured list with a right oblique strain. If all goes smoothly with his rehab, the 32-year-old could return to the Marlins' bullpen in the early part of May.

  • Braves' Raisel Iglesias: Throws another bullpen session

Iglesias (shoulder) threw another successful bullpen session Thursday, Grant McAuley of 929 The Game reports.

Iglesias is just about ready to advance to live batting practice sessions and appears on track to join Atlanta's bullpen just before the end of April. He developed some minor inflammation in his right shoulder at the tail end of spring training, but that seems to be in the rearview. A.J. Minter is currently holding down the closer role for the defending NL East champions.

  • Steven Okert RP | HOU

Marlins' Steven Okert: Activated from injured list

Okert (groin) was activated Friday from the 15-day injured list, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Okert will join the Marlins' bullpen for Friday night's game against the Guardians after missing the first three weeks of the 2023 season with an adductor injury. He was effective for Miami in both 2021 and 2022, and the 31-year-old left-hander could take on a setup role now that he's back to full health, although he'll be behind both A.J. Puk and Tanner Scott in the pecking order from the port side.

  • Cardinals' Wilking Rodriguez: Sharp in rehab debut

Rodriguez (shoulder) tossed a scoreless inning in his rehab debut Thursday night with Triple-A Memphis, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Rodriguez needed just nine pitches to get through the scoreless frame and twice reached 98 mph with his four-seam fastball. Once he's deemed fully recovered from a late-spring bout of right shoulder tightness, he'll likely be an option for the Cardinals' bullpen by early next week.

  • Tristan Beck RP | SF

Giants' Tristan Beck: Makes major-league debut

Beck allowed four runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out five over 5.1 innings in a 9-4 loss to the Mets on Thursday. He did not factor in the decision.

Sean Manaea wore the loss for this one after getting tagged for five runs in the fourth inning. The Giants rallied in the fifth, but Beck ended up giving back all of that progress, though his long-relief outing helped to spare the bullpen. It's possible Beck will be sent back to Triple-A Sacramento in short order after his MLB debut. He posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 9:7 K:BB across 13.1 innings with Sacramento prior to his call-up, so it's clear he still needs to work on trimming his walk rate.

  • Jake Reed RP | LAD

Dodgers' Jake Reed: Called up from Triple-A

The Dodgers selected Reed's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Reed was removed from the 40-man roster prior to spring training but has found his way back to the majors even after allowing five runs over 2.1 innings at Oklahoma City this season. He'll be used in low-leverage spots.
