Kimbrel (5-6) earned the extra-inning win over the Giants on Sunday, pitching a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Kimbrel worked the ninth inning to keep the game tied, and the Dodgers took the lead in the 10th. The right-hander hadn't pitched since blowing a save Wednesday versus the Diamondbacks, but it appears that outing was a speed bump and the not the start of another slump. Kimbrel has a 3.96 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 64:22 K:BB through 52.1 innings while adding 22 saves in 27 chances.

Uelmen tossed two scoreless innings of relief in Sunday's loss to the Rockies. He allowed two hits and struck out four.

Uelmen, who made his MLB debut back in July, set a new career high with the four strikeouts. The righty has exclusively pitched in relief for the Cubs, and he now has a 4.98 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 21.2 innings. The 26-year-old could be in the mix for an Opening Day bullpen role in 2023 if he impresses in the last few weeks of this season, though his fantasy value seems limited at this point.

Assad (1-2) allowed four runs on two hits and four walks while striking out three in two innings, taking the loss Sunday versus the Rockies.

Assad yielded three runs in the first inning and a solo home run to Connor Joe in the second. This was the second time in his last three starts he's yielded four runs, which account for both of his losses through six appearances this year. The rookie right-hander has posted a 3.86 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 21:14 K:BB through 23.1 innings. He's still likely to feature in a starting role if the Cubs stick with a six-man rotation. Assad is tentatively lined up for a favorable road start in Pittsburgh next weekend.

Bard struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.

Bard extended his scoreless streak to five innings, and he hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 10 frames. He needed 15 pitches (12 strikes) to set down the side in order Sunday. Bard continues to impress in 2022 with a 1.95 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 61:24 K:BB while converting 32 of 35 save chances across 55.1 innings.

Williams did not give up a hit or a walk over a scoreless inning of work to earn the save in a 4-1 victory over the Yankees on Saturday. He struck out two.

Williams came on to pitch the ninth with a three-run lead after teammate Brandon Woodruff spun an eight-inning gem. He took care of the last three Yankees hitters on twelve pitches to pick up his 13th save of the season. Williams now has a superb ERA of 1.42 in six September appearances with four saves and a win over that stretch.

Treinen (shoulder) is expected to throw to live hitters Monday and could be activated from the injured list later in the week, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Treinen threw a bullpen session Wednesday that didn't result in any setbacks, and his next step will be to throw to hitters. He may not need a minor-league rehab stint given the brief timeframe of his absence. Treinen's placement on the 15-day IL was backdated to Sept. 7, so the earliest he can return is Thursday.

Manager Buck Showalter said Smith (lat) is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Smith made his fourth minor-league rehab appearance Saturday, clearing the way for him to rejoin the active roster this week. The 28-year-old has been a solid bullpen piece for the Mets this season with a 3.51 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 47:14 K:BB across 41 innings.

Bednar (back) will continue his rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday in what is likely to be his final outing before being activated from the 15-day injured list, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander began the rehab assignment last week, and Monday will be his third appearance with Indianapolis. Bednar has been sidelined by the back injury since late July, but he's on the cusp of rejoining the Pirates for the final stretch of the season. He's 17-for-21 in save chances with a 2.70 ERA this year, and he figures to reclaim the closer role from Wil Crowe once reinstated.

Frias was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

The 24-year-old was demoted to Reno in early September but will rejoin the big-league club with Keynan Middleton (toe) headed to the injured list. Frias allowed seven earned runs over 5.2 innings during his previous stint in the majors, though he didn't allow any runs in five of his six outings.

Hollowell had his contract selected by the Rockies on Sunday.

Hollowell has been with Double-A Hartford all season and will now receive his first taste of the big leagues. The 24-year-old has appeared in 42 games for the Yard Goats this year and has a 3.14 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 64:14 K:BB across 48.2 innings.
