Stephenson worked a hitless inning with two strikeouts, picking up the save in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning win over Atlanta.

In his first appearance since being reinstated from the paternity list, Stephenson fired a fantastic inning of work in the 10th to secure his first save of the season after closer Carlos Estevez pitched the ninth. Although Stephenson did plunk Adam Duvall (maybe leave that part out of the bedtime stories), he got Austin Riley and Travis d'Arnaud swinging before getting Dansby Swanson to fly out to end the game. Not a bad welcome to the world present for the newest addition to the Stephenson family.

Estevez (3-4) allowed one hit and one walk while striking out one over an inning of work, picking up the win in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning victory over Atlanta.

Estevez got the first two outs of the ninth inning before Ozzie Albies and Jorge Soler both reached base. With the winning run in scoring position and Freddie Freeman at the dish, the right-hander got the Atlanta first baseman to fly out on one pitch. Although he has now allowed a hit in six straight appearances, Estevez has gotten a ton of high leverage work for the Rockies in September.

Finnegan (5-7) allowed four runs on four hits and a walk with one strikeout in 1.1 innings, taking the loss and a blown save versus Miami on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old was responsible for all of Miami's four-run ninth inning, which gave the visitors their only lead in the contest. This was just the second blown save of the year for Finnegan, who has added nine saves and 12 holds in 61 appearances. He's been mostly solid with a 3.15 ERA, but a 1.42 WHIP and 61:29 K:BB indicate he's gotten away with some sloppy work on the mound. Finnegan still figures to serve as the primary closer for the remainder of the campaign.

Floro struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 8-6 win over Washington.

The 30-year-old had no trouble making Miami's only lead of the game stick for a win. Floro has allowed eight runs (six earned) in 16 innings since taking over as the primary closer with Yimi Garcia shipped to Houston at the trade deadline. Through 57 innings overall, Floro has a 2.84 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 53:21 K:BB this year. He's gone 10-for-11 in save chances since taking over the closer role.

Ginkel was recalled from Triple-A Reno and placed on the 60-day injured list Wednesday with right elbow inflammation.

Ginkel landed on the injured list at Reno in late July, and he's being move to the major-league 60-day IL to free up a spot on the 40-man roster. There's been no indication where the 27-year-old is at in his recovery, but given the length of his absence, he won't be returning down the stretch for Arizona.

Gilbert was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with left elbow inflammation.

Gilbert earned a win Sunday against the Mariners after allowing two runs on two hits across 5.1 innings. but he's apparently dealing with an arm issue. It's unclear if the left-hander will pitch again this season with less than three weeks left to go. Merrill Kelly (illness) was activated from the COVID-19 injured list in a corresponding move and will start Wednesday versus the Dodgers.

Reyes (8-8) was credited with the win in an extra-innings victory over the Mets on Tuesday, firing a scoreless 10th inning during which he issued a walk.

Reyes continued trending in the right direction with another strong outing Tuesday, one that saw him get his three outs on an efficient 13 pitches. The right-hander has settled into a nice groove as more of a setup option of late, generating four straight scoreless appearances and six in his last eight trips to the mound overall.

Brogdon was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right groin strain Wednesday, retroactive to Sept. 13.

Brogdon pitched well recently, as he posted a 1.69 ERA and 0.84 WHIP in 10.2 innings across his last 10 appearances while working mainly in lower-leverage situations. Right-hander Ramon Rosso was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his place in the bullpen, and it's not yet clear whether Brogdon will have enough time to return in 2021.

Bednar (oblique) resumed playing catch Wednesday and is feeling pain free, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Bednar's ability to start throwing again just one day after being placed on the injured list suggests his right oblique strain is a relatively minor one. That said, he'll still need to progress to throwing off a mound and facing hitters in live batting practice or simulated games, so Bednar is far from a safe bet to make it back from the 10-day injured list before the end of the season. In the meantime, Chris Stratton represents the top candidate to pick up saves for the Pirates.

Smith (shoulder) resumed playing catch earlier this month but is without a clear timeline for returning from the 10-day injured list, MLB.com reports.

Before he was placed on the injured list Aug. 14 with right shoulder inflammation, Smith had been productive for the Mets in a middle-relief role, posting a 2.40 ERA and 1.06 WHIP across 31 appearances. The Mets haven't shut Smith down for the season, but since he has yet to resume facing hitters, he may have a tough time making it back in the next two and a half weeks.
