Lamet won't start as scheduled Wednesday against the Mariners as the two teams agreed to postpone the contest in protest of the recent police shooting of Jacob Blake, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

The game is the second of the day to be postponed in protest, as the Brewers and Reds also reached an agreement earlier in the evening. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Thursday, with Lamet starting Game 1.

Rodriguez was designated for assignment by the Giants on Wednesday.

Rodriguez's struggles date back to last season, as the right-hander owns a 5.94 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 73:39 K:BB over 103 innings spanning this season and last. He notched a 2.81 ERA (3.73 FIP) across 118.1 innings in 2018, so Rodriguez could draw some interest on waivers. Joey Rickard was summoned to the big-league club in a corresponding move.

The Reds activated Strop (groin) from the injured list and designated him for assignment, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

It's a little surprising that the Reds have parted ways with Strop, but this was done to make room on the 40-man roster for Jose Garcia. Strop was late in reporting to the Reds' summer camp before the sprint season began, struggled with his control once the season started (six walks in 2.1 innings) and then went on the IL with a groin injury.

Gsellman is a candidate to start Thursday against the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Gsellman hasn't pitched since Aug. 17 due to postponements tied to the COVID-19 pandemic. If he does get the ball first Thursday, the right-hander likely won't pitch deep into the game as he's still building up to a starter's workload. Across three outings this season, Gsellman has struck out four batters and allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks across 4.2 innings.

Jansen allowed a solo home run in one inning Tuesday to blow the save against San Francisco. He didn't allow any additional baserunners and struck out two.

Jansen entered the game having successfully converted each of his seven save opportunities this season, but Brandon Belt ended that streak when he launched a solo shot with one out in the bottom of the ninth. Jansen recovered to strike out the next two batters, but the Giants ultimately walked off with the win in 11 frames. Despite the letdown, Jansen remains one of the more secure closers in the game and has posted strong numbers this season, including a 1.42 ERA and 16:4 K:BB over 12.2 innings.

Suter pitched the seventh inning of Tuesday's 3-2 victory over the Reds and struck out all three batters he faced.

Suter allowed his first runs since July 28 his last time out, but he got right back on track Tuesday, needing just 14 pitches to get through his lone inning. Suter is not being used in a fantasy-friendly role, but he allowed just two runners to cross the plate over his last 10.1 frames (1.74 ERA) and owns a stellar 18:1 K:BB over 14.2 innings this season.

Pomeranz (shoulder) played catch Tuesday, Judson Richards of XTRA1360 San Diego reports.

Though the Padres have not provided an update on Pomeranz's status moving forward, manager Jayce Tingler called the activity "a good sign" and indicated that he would follow up with trainers. Pomeranz was placed on the injured list last week, retroactive to Aug. 19. Emilio Pagan has taken over the closer role in his absence.

Bard picked up the save Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. He allowed one run on one hit and two walks while fanning two over one inning. He also hit a batter.

Bard notched his third save of the season, but it wasn't a crisp performance for the 35-year-old -- he walked Kole Calhoun to begin the inning, allowed a run on an RBI single from David Peralta, and he ultimately loaded the bases before striking out Nick Ahmed to close the game. Bard has now allowed runs in four of his last six appearances, compiling a 7.20 ERA in five innings across that stretch.

Santana (1-2) was tagged with a blown save and a loss in Tuesday's game against the Giants. He allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits -- including a home run -- in two-thirds of an inning. He struck out one.

Santana pitched the bottom of the 11th with a one-run lead, but that quickly vanished when he allowed Mike Yastrzemski to score from second base on an RBI single from Evan Longoria. He struck out Brandon Belt in the next at-bat and was just one out away from completing the inning, but Donovan Solano took him deep to end the game. Santana has been struggling of late, giving up seven earned runs and three home runs in 2.2 innings across his last three appearances.

Young allowed three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five in a no-decision against the Rockies on Tuesday.

Young made his third start in place of Madison Bumgarner (back) and reached five innings for the first time. The left-hander has a 4.73 ERA over his three starts. With Bumgarner nearing a return, Young could remain in the rotation as a fill-in for Merrill Kelly (shoulder) and is expected to take the mound Sunday at home against San Francisco.
