Beede (4-9) pitched five scoreless innings, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out five to earn the victory in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Dodgers.

Beede didn't get much run support, but he didn't need any, and the Giants' bullpen allowed only two baserunners over the final four innings of the game. The scoreless outing lowers the right-hander's ERA to 5.33 with a 1.58 WHIP and 96:43 K:BB in 101.1 innings. Beede is projected to start versus the Pirates on Thursday.

Young (7-3) threw eight scoreless innings for the win Saturday, allowing just two hits and striking out 12 batters in a 2-0 win over the Reds.

The only two hits Young permitted were infield singles by Jose Iglesias in the fifth inning and Curt Casali in the eighth. The rookie southpaw's 12 strikeouts were his high for the season and he had not lasted more than six innings before this outing. The 25-year-old has now won three of his last four starts and will carry a 3.38 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP into New York for a matchup with the Mets on Thursday.

Garcia was recalled by the Rockies on Saturday.

Garcia made his first career big-league start in late August, giving up six runs in five innings while striking out two and walking five. It's not yet clear what his role is expected to be down the stretch.

Rogers fired a scoreless inning while walking one and striking out two in Friday's 5-4 victory over the Dodgers.

Rogers picked up his first major-league hold after sitting down three of the Dodgers' toughest right-handed hitters in the seventh inning. The submarine righty has experienced early success with a 1.35 ERA over 6.2 innings since being called up Aug. 27. With Reyes Moronta and Trevor Gott both on the 60-day injured list, Rogers could find himself in more high-leverage situations against righty-heavy portions of opposing lineups.

Peralta was claimed off waivers by the Giants on Saturday.

Peralta hasn't been very good in 34 innings for the Reds this season, posting a 6.09 ERA in 34 innings. His 17.9 percent strikeout rate and 9.9 percent walk rate are both worse than average. He'll get to pitch in a pitcher-friendly home park for the first time in his career in San Francisco, but his career 5.00 ERA doesn't look particularly good even when Great American Ballpark is factored in.

Hoffman is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Padres.

The right-hander will unsurprisingly stick around for another turn through the Rockies' injury-riddled rotation after delivering a passable showing in his return to the big leagues Sept. 1, limiting the Pirates to two runs on nine hits and one walk over five innings. While he'll benefit from pitching at Petco Park rather than Coors Field for his 11th big-league start of the season, Hoffman hasn't shown enough away from Colorado to make for the most comfortable streaming option. Over 81.1 career innings on the road, Hoffman has posted a 4.76 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 8.5 K/9.

Sims covered 1.1 innings in relief Friday in the Reds' 7-5 loss to the Diamondbacks, giving up one run on two hits and a walk while striking out three.

Just three days earlier, Sims made a spot start against the Braves after Alex Wood (back) was scratched. Sims tossed only 34 pitches in that outing, so the Reds were comfortable keeping him available out of the bullpen Friday. Wood is without a clear timeline to resume pitching, but with Tyler Mahle having already served as a sixth starter lately, the Reds are expected to simply get by with a traditional five-man rotation rather than calling on Sims for additional starts.

Smith earned a ninth-inning save against the Dodgers on Friday, allowing one run on one hit and a walk while striking out two.

Smith came into the ninth inning tasked with protecting a 5-3 lead. It took him 20 pitches, but he got it done. Smith started off strong by striking out Cody Bellinger, then causing David Freese to pop out. The left-hander faltered by giving up a solo home run to A.J. Pollock and a walk to Russell Martin. Luckily, he sent his namesake, Dodgers rookie catcher Will Smith, down on strikes to finish things off for good. Smith the closer has racked up 32 saves across 58 appearances this season with a 3.00 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 87:19 K:BB.

Lamet (2-4) was charged with the loss against the Rockies on Friday, giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts over six innings.

Lamet earned his second quality start of the season in 11 starts despite taking the loss. The only run he was responsible for came in the first inning after he allowed a leadoff single and a stolen base to Trevor Story, who then scored on an RBI single by Charlie Blackmon. Unfortunately, the Padres failed to provide him with enough run support. The 27-year-old right-hander will carry a 3.95 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 74:23 K:BB into Wednesday's contest against the Cubs.

Hultzen will be called up by the Cubs on Saturday, Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register reports.

Hultzen's journey to the big leagues was a lengthy one, as a string of shoulder issues derailed his career for several seasons after he was drafted second overall back in 2011, sandwiched between Gerrit Cole and Trevor Bauer. Now 29 years old, the lefty is finally ready for his first major-league opportunity after posting a 1.26 ERA and a 39.0 percent strikeout rate in 14.1 innings for Triple-A Iowa. He'll be a bullpen option down the stretch.
