Nelson (elbow) will be activated off the 60-day injured list Sunday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Nelson was eligible to come off the shelf Aug. 27, but the Brewers will wait to make the move until rosters expand Sunday. The 30-year-old struggled in his brief return to the majors earlier this season, posting an 8.36 ERA, 2.29 WHIP and 15:14 K:BB over 14 innings. Nelson hasn't worked more than three innings in an outing during his rehab stint, and it's not clear what his role will be upon his return.

Kelly pitched one inning against Arizona on Thursday, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out one.

Kelly took over in the sixth inning and gave up hits to the first three batters he faced. The third was a long ball off the bat of Eduardo Escobar that snapped Kelly's streak of 11 appearances without allowing a run. The 31-year-old got off to a rough start in his first campaign with the Dodgers but had turned things around over the last three months, compiling a 4-1 record along with four holds, a 2.25 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP and 39 strikeouts in 28 innings since the start of June.

Williams (shoulder) will return to Florida next week to resume his throwing program and is preparing for his return in 2020, Byron Kerr of MASN Sports reports.

Williams has been on the shelf since mid-April with a sprained right AC joint and it appears he'll look toward next season rather than rejoining the Nationals for the stretch run. The 26-year-old started pitching in the Gulf Coast League in late July and made five appearances with Double-A Harrisburg, but he's taken a break over the last couple weeks before meeting with doctors Tuesday in Washington. Williams is fully recovered from the shoulder injury but is still working to find the timing in his mechanics, prompting the decision to avoid rushing back in September.

Kinley (3-1) earned the win Thursday after holding the Reds scoreless with a pair of strikeouts across two innings.

Kinley came into a tied 3-3 game in the 11th and silenced the Reds across two frames. Luckily, a walkoff home run by Harold Ramirez gave Kinley and the Marlins a much-needed win. Through 38 appearances, Kinley owns a 4.24 ERA and 1.69 WHIP.

Kimbrel earned the save against the Mets on Thursday, pitching a perfect ninth inning and striking out one batter.

For the second straight game, Kimbrel was summoned to protect a three-run lead and emerged unscathed, upping his saves count to 13 on the season. The 31-year-old has now pitched a scoreless inning in each of his last five appearances, striking out six batters in that span. He has held the opponent scoreless in 16 of 20 outings this season.

Munoz got the save against the Giants on Thursday, giving up one earned run on one hit in the ninth inning before closing out San Diego's 5-3 victory. He struck out two and walked one.

Given his first career save opportunity -- likely because Kirby Yates threw 28 pitches in a Wednesday extra-inning loss -- Munoz didn't smoothly sail. He gave up a run and walked a batter, but he came back to tally a pair of strikeouts and successfully preserve the two-run victory. The 20-year-old has dominant stuff that makes him one of the best relief pitcher prospects in baseball, and he's shown it with his numbers so far (1.86 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 24 strikeouts in just 19.1 innings).

Iglesias (2-10) was charged with the loss Thursday against the Marlins after surrendering a solo home run.

Summoned to protect a 3-3 game in the bottom of the 12th, Iglesias threw just three pitches that led to a walkoff home run for Harold Ramirez. He now has 10 losses on the season with 27 saves and owns a 4.31 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 61:16 K:BB.

Rodriguez (5-7) took the loss against the Padres on Thursday, giving up five earned runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out three and walking one as the Giants fell 5-3.

Rodriguez was done in by the long ball in this one, as most of the damage against him came on a pair of two-run homers he gave up to Manuel Margot and Austin Hedges. After bursting onto the scene and putting up a 2.81 ERA over 118.1 innings last season, Rodriguez hasn't been able to put it together at the big-league level in 2019; this gives him a 5.26 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 89:36 K:BB over 75.1 innings.

Hoffman appears to be in line to start Sunday's game against the Pirates, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Hoffman was pulled from his start at Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday night after two perfect innings, so the Rockies are seemingly keeping him fresh for Sunday's outing. Expect Colorado to officially name a starter in the coming days.

Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Burdi (biceps) is on track to ramp up his activity within the next 10 days to two weeks, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Initially placed on the injured list in April with a strained biceps, Burdi had resumed a throwing program in June before he was shut down again after developing symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome, for which he required season-ending surgery. The procedure has apparently done its part to alleviate those symptoms over the past two months, so he'll now prepare to take the first meaningful step forward in the rehab process. The Pirates may not have a strong feel for Burdi's availability for the start of the 2020 season until reassessing his condition in spring training.
