Top Seranthony Dominguez News

  • Mariners' Seranthony Dominguez: Acquired by Seattle

The Mariners acquired Dominguez, outfielder Nolan Jones and catcher Boston Smith from the White Sox on Saturday in exchange for right-hander Luis Castillo, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Dominguez opened the season as the closer for the White Sox but lost his grip on the job in late June. He'll now head to Seattle, where he'll presumably operate in a middle relief for the Mariners, with Andres Munoz locked in as the closer. Dominguez has a 4.10 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 12 saves (in 17 chances), four holds and a 45:23 K:BB over 37.1 innings this season.

  • White Sox's Seranthony Dominguez: Blows another save Monday

Dominguez blew the save in Monday's 6-5 win over the Guardians. He allowed two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out one over one-third of an inning.

After blowing a save Sunday against the Tigers, Dominguez was quickly handed another opportunity Monday and came up short once again. Entrusted with a one-run lead in the ninth inning, the right-hander allowed a walk, a single and a double before recording an out, squandering the lead in the process. After striking out Rhys Hoskins for the first out of the frame, Dominguez was lifted, and one of his inherited runners came around to score. However, the White Sox offense answered with a walk-off win in the bottom of the inning. The 31-year-old's grip on the closer role appears tenuous, as he owns a 4.45 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 33:16 K:BB while converting 12 of 17 save opportunities across 28.1 innings this season.

  • White Sox's Seranthony Dominguez: Records 12th save Sunday

Dominguez earned the save in Sunday's 6-4 win against the Dodgers, allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out two over one inning.

Dominguez was called upon to protect a three-run lead in the ninth inning and ultimately got the job done despite some late drama. The right-hander worked around two walks and an RBI double before recording the final outs to secure his 12th save of the season. It was Dominguez's first save since May 25, after which he posted five scoreless appearances and allowed just two baserunners total since. He now owns a 3.81 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 31:15 K:BB across 26 innings this year.

  • White Sox's Seranthony Dominguez: Picks up first hold of season

Dominguez struck out one in a perfect eighth inning Saturday to record his first hold of the season in a 7-1 win over the Tigers.

After being used in the top of the ninth inning of a tie game Friday, Dominguez was brought back Saturday with the White Sox up 4-1 and Detroit's 2-3-4 hitters coming to the plate. The right-hander got the job done on 15 pitches (eight strikes), and the White Sox then added some insurance runs before letting Trevor Richards finish the game with a big lead. Dominguez has produced four straight scoreless appearances, and on the season he sports a 3.97 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 28:11 K:BB through 22.2 innings while converting 11 of 14 save opportunities.

  • White Sox's Seranthony Dominguez: Picks up first save in 12 days

Dominguez earned the save in Monday's 3-1 win over the Twins, allowing one hit and no walks with two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning.

It was Dominguez's first save in 12 days and his 11th of the season. After allowing five runs in a combined two innings of work May 13 and May 17, Dominguez didn't pitch for a week. He's now posted back-to-back scoreless outings after the reset. The right-hander owns a 4.35 ERA and 26:11 K:BB across 20.2 innings this season.

  • White Sox's Seranthony Dominguez: Earns 10th save despite home run

Dominguez collected his 10th save of the season during the White Sox's 6-5 win over the Royals on Wednesday, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out one batter in the ninth inning.

Dominguez got two of the first three batters he faced to ground out, but his first pitch to Bobby Witt was smacked to left-center field for a two-run home run to cut the Royals' deficit to one run. Kansas City attempted to keep the pressure on by bringing in Jac Caglianone to pinch hit, but Dominguez shut the door by striking out Caglianone on six pitches. This marks the third time this season that Dominguez has given up at least two earned runs in a game, but he still did enough to earn his 10th save of the season, which is tied for fifth in Major League Baseball. Despite the hiccup, he has a 2.31 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB in his past 12 outings.

  • White Sox's Seranthony Dominguez: Survives for ninth save

Dominguez secured the save Sunday against the Mariners, allowing no runs on one hit and two walks in the ninth inning. He struck out one.

Dominguez made things interesting Sunday, loading the bases and putting the possible go-ahead run in scoring position, but he held on with a game-ending groundout. The right-hander has been solid as Chicago's closer, posting a 3.45 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 20:10 K:BB over 15.2 innings while converting nine of his 11 save opportunities. Dominguez has secured six consecutive save chances as well.

  • White Sox's Seranthony Dominguez: Earns eighth save

Dominguez earned the save in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Padres, striking out one and retiring both batters he faced in the ninth inning.

Dominguez entered with a four-run lead and the bases loaded after Grant Taylor struggled to open the ninth inning, and the former slammed the door on just six pitches. Since blowing a save April 16, the 31-year-old has converted five straight opportunities while keeping opponents off the board in seven of eight outings during that span. For the year, he's 8-for-10 in save chances with a 3.95 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 17:9 K:BB across 13.2 innings.

  • White Sox's Seranthony Dominguez: Snags extra-inning win

Dominguez (2-3) picked up the win Wednesday, striking out one in a perfect 10th inning during a 3-2 victory over the Angels.

After the White Sox tied the game in the bottom of the ninth, Dominguez was called in for the top of the 10th and never even let the phantom runner advance from second base. The veteran righty then got rewarded when Colson Montgomery walked it off with a bases-loaded single. Dominguez has a 4.15 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB through 13 innings to begin the season and has converted seven of nine save chances.
