  • Luke Little RP | CHC

Cubs' Luke Little: Battling shoulder issue

Little was removed from Friday's game against the Cardinals due to shoulder discomfort, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Little was only able to throw four pitches and didn't retire a batter before his shoulder forced him to make an early exit. The Cubs haven't offered any information regarding the seriousness of the southpaw's injury, and there's no telling whether he'll be available to pitch again before the All-Star break.

  • Kyle Finnegan RP | DET

Nationals' Kyle Finnegan: Secures 24th save

Finnegan picked up the save in Friday's 5-2 win against the Brewers, pitching a clean inning with two strikeouts.

The Nationals closer promptly retired all three batters he faced for his 24th save, good for second in the National League behind Ryan Helsley. This straightforward save was a welcome sight for Finnegan after he yielded three runs across his two previous outings. The Washington righty sports a 2.52 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 42:12 K:BB over 39.1 innings while going 24-for-28 in save chances.

  • Daniel Hudson RP | LAD

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Earns fourth save

Hudson earned the save against the Tigers on Friday, walking two and striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

The Dodgers deployed closer Evan Phillips in the sixth inning, ensuring he would get some work after he hadn't pitched since July 6, so Hudson was called upon to protect a 4-3 lead in the ninth and did so despite throwing just 10 strikes on 25 pitches. This was Hudson's first save since May 20, as Alex Vesia likely would have worked the ninth had he been available Friday. On the year, Hudson owns four saves and 13 holds with a 1.63 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 42:7 K:BB over 38.2 innings.

  • Padres' Wandy Peralta: IL move official

The Padres placed Peralta on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to July 10, with a left adductor strain.

Peralta sustained a groin strain during an appearance against Seattle on Tuesday and hasn't pitched since. His move to the IL opens up a spot on the active roster for Sean Reynolds. Peralta will be eligible to return in late July.

  • Padres' Sean Reynolds: Officially promoted

The Padres called up Reynolds from Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

Reynolds is set to join the big-league roster with Wandy Peralta (groin) headed to the IL in a corresponding move. Reynolds was traded to San Diego from the Marlins last August and has appeared in 29 games with El Paso this season, three of which were starts. He'll pitch out of the bullpen for the Padres, and he'll be making his MLB debut if he gets into a game.

  • Padres' Sean Reynolds: Call up pending

The Padres are expected to recall Reynolds from Triple-A El Paso, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Reynolds will take the place of Wandy Peralta (groin) on the active roster. Reynolds hasn't made his MLB debut yet, and he has logged a 6.55 ERA and 60 strikeouts across 45.1 innings for El Paso.

  • Padres' Wandy Peralta: Heading to IL

Peralta (groin) will be placed on the injured list, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Peralta was removed from Tuesday's game against the Mariners with what appeared to be a left groin strain. The 32-year-old has a 4.50 ERA across 34 innings this season. Sean Reynolds will be called up to take Peralta's place on the active roster.

  • Riley O'Brien RP | STL

Cardinals' Riley O'Brien: Could begin rehab assignment soon

O'Brien is scheduled to throw live batting practice Saturday with Double-A Springfield and could start a rehab assignment next week if it goes well, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Saturday will be O'Brien's third, and possibly last, live BP session, as the 29-year-old reliever could see game action as early as next week. O'Brien hasn't pitched in a game since Opening Day, when he sustained a strained forearm. He'll likely require several rehab appearances before being activated.

  • Adbert Alzolay RP | NYM

Cubs' Adbert Alzolay: Facing hitters Friday

Alzolay (forearm) will throw live batting practice Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Alzolay threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday and is set to face batters for the first time since being placed on the injured list in mid-May. The 29-year-old has been rehabbing at the Cubs' Arizona complex, and he'll likely require a handful of minor-league rehab outings before being activated.

  • Cubs' Julian Merryweather: Rehab stint continues Friday

Merryweather (ribs) is scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Merryweather fanned two across a perfect inning in his first rehab appearance Tuesday. The 32-year-old should rejoin the big-league bullpen on the other side of the All-Star break.
