  • Pirates' Daulton Jefferies: Lands on IL with elbow inflammation

The Pirates placed Jefferies (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Saturday.

Jeffries had been pitching in long relief out of the Pirates' bullpen since being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on June 17, posting a 6.30 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 10 innings. With Jeffries bound for the injured list, Pittsburgh recalled right-hander Ryder Ryan from Indianapolis.

  • Giants' Spencer Bivens: Optioned to Sacramento

The Giants optioned Bivens to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.

The move is to make room on the 26-man roster for left-hander Kyle Harrison (ankle), who is starting Saturday against the Guardians. Bivens appeared in seven games for the Giants after his contract was selected June 16, posting a 2.65 ERA and 1.12 WHIP over 17 innings while working as a spot starter and bulk reliever out of the bullpen.

  • Giants' Kolton Ingram: Called up to San Francisco

The Giants recalled Ingram from Double-A Richmond on Saturday.

Ingram was claimed off waivers by the Giants on Tuesday after the Cardinals designated the 27-year-old southpaw for assignment June 30. In the minors this season, Ingram has a 4.10 ERA and 1.63 WHIP across 26.1 innings. To make room for Ingram on the 26-man active roster, the Giants optioned infielder David Villar to Triple-A Sacramento.

  • Ryan Walker RP | SF

Giants' Ryan Walker: Credited with win

Walker (5-3) walked one and struck out two over 1.2 scoreless and hitless innings to earn the win Friday over the Guardians.

The Giants led wire-to-wire in the bullpen game, and Walker was rewarded with the win from the official scorer after getting five outs over the sixth and seventh innings. The reliever has a 9.1-inning scoreless streak, during which he's posted a 14:2 K:BB. He continues to impress in a versatile role with a 1.97 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 60:9 K:BB over 45.2 innings this season, and he's added 16 holds.

  • Edwin Diaz RP | LAD

Mets' Edwin Diaz: Returns from suspension

The Mets activated Diaz from his 10-game suspension Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Diaz was dealt an automatic 10-game suspension June 24 for the use of an illegal substance on the mound, and he'll now reclaim his usual role as New York's closer. The 30-year-old has been met with struggles this season, putting up a 4.70 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 23 innings, but his return will still provide a much-needed boost to the Mets' bullpen, which posted an 8.37 ERA while Diaz was suspended.

  • Joe Kelly RP | LAD

Dodgers' Joe Kelly: Logs second rehab outing

Kelly (shoulder) tossed one scoreless inning, during which he allowed a hit and a walk while striking out one batter, in a rehab appearance with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Friday.

Kelly had a bit of trouble finding the strike zone -- seven of his 13 pitches were balls -- and he allowed the first two batters he faced to reach base via a single and a walk. However, the veteran reliever followed with a strikeout before inducing an inning-ending double play to escape without allowing any runs. Kelly has tossed two scoreless frames through two rehab outings with the Single-A Quakes. It's not clear how many more minor-league appearances he'll be asked to make before being activated from the injured list, but there appears to be a good chance that he'll be back in Los Angeles' bullpen before the All-Star break.

  • Ty Adcock RP | SD

Mets' Ty Adcock: Optioned to Syracuse

The Mets optioned Adcock to Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.

Since being called up to the Mets on June 26, Adcock has given up seven earned runs in just 4.1 innings -- six of which came during his latest outing Friday. He'll now return to the minors in order to get back on track, and Eric Orze will come up from Triple-A to replenish New York's bullpen depth.

  • Bryan Hoeing RP | SD

Marlins' Bryan Hoeing: Stuck with loss in return from IL

Hoeing dropped to 0-1 in Friday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over three innings while striking out four batters.

Making his first appearance since recovering from a hamstring strain that had sidelined him for over two months, Hoeing was surprisingly sharp over 46 pitches (32 strikes), but Miami's offense didn't get on the board until the seventh inning. Given the tattered state of the team's staff -- the Marlins have enough starting pitchers on the injured list to fill an entire rotation and then some -- Hoeing could continue to be deployed in a tandem with rookie Roddery Munoz, who worked four innings in relief Friday. Hoeing has been the more effective of the two arms this season, posting a 1.99 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 20:6 K:BB through 22.2 innings.

  • Carson Spiers SP | CIN

Reds' Carson Spiers: Can't keep ball in yard Friday

Spiers (2-2) took the loss Friday, giving up four runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over 4.2 innings as the Reds fell 5-4 to the Tigers. He struck out three.

The right-hander served up solo shots to Parker Meadows and Colt Keith in the third inning, before Keith tagged him again for a two-run blast in the fifth. Spiers had lasted exactly six innings in each of his prior three starts, but after allowing zero homers over his first 31.1 big-league innings this season, he's now been taken deep four times in his last 10.2 frames. He'll look to tighten up his command in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Rockies.

  • Evan Phillips RP | LAD

Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Locks down 14th save

Phillips struck out the side to earn the save in Friday's 8-5 win over the Brewers.

Phillips needed just 12 pitches (nine strikes) to set the Brewers down in order to protect a three-run lead. It's an encouraging sign, as he had allowed a run in each of his last two outings. Phillips is up to 14 saves and one hold through 26.2 innings this season, and he's maintained a strong 2.03 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 30:8 K:BB.
