  • Red Sox's Cooper Criswell: Expected to be 27th man Wednesday

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Criswell will likely be recalled from Triple-A Worcester to start Wednesday's game versus the Reds following the completion of a suspended game, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Brayan Bello had been scheduled to start the regularly scheduled contest, but he will be handed the ball in the earlier suspended game instead. That leaves Criswell -- who will added as the 27th man -- to start the nightcap, although it's possible an opener is used ahead of him. Criswell would be pitching on three days' rest after going five innings and throwing 87 pitches Saturday for Worcester, so he'd likely have a truncated workload against Cincinnati.

  • Yosver Zulueta SP | SEA

Reds' Yosver Zulueta: Up as 27th man

The Reds recalled Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

The Reds and Red Sox will resume a suspended game Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. ET before playing their regularly scheduled contest later in the evening. Zulueta will be available as the 27th man for the latter tilt. He's allowed one run over 2.1 innings covering two relief appearances with the big club this season.

  • Andrew Chafin RP | CIN

Nationals' Andrew Chafin: Could be close to return

Chafin (hamstring) threw a simulated game before Tuesday's game was postponed due to rain, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.

The veteran southpaw has been sidelined since June 8 due to a strained hamstring. Chafin isn't expected to need a rehab assignment, and if he doesn't have any issues following Tuesday's session, he could be activated from the IL later this week.

  • Tyler Owens RP | DET

Tigers' Tyler Owens: Summoned from Triple-A

The Tigers recalled Owens from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday.

He'll take over the 26-man active roster spot of right-hander Sawyer Gipson-Long (neck), who was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Owens made two relief appearances for Detroit earlier this season but has spent most of the 2025 campaign pitching out of the bullpen at Toledo, where he's posted a 5.46 ERA and 1.68 WHIP over 28 innings.

  • Tigers' Sawyer Gipson-Long: Goes on IL with neck strain

The Tigers placed Gipson-Long on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a neck strain.

Gipson-Long last pitched Friday, and it's not clear whether he got hurt during that outing or at some point since then. The right-hander will be eligible for activation at the start of the second half, but the Tigers have not revealed a timetable for his return. With Reese Olson (finger) expected back from the injured list later this week, Gipson-Long might not have a rotation spot waiting for him once he's healthy.

  • Padres' Ron Marinaccio: Up as 27th man for doubleheader

The Padres recalled Marinaccio from Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday.

Marinaccio will serve as the 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader in Philadelphia. The right-hander was acquired by the Padres via trade over the offseason and has spent all of this season at El Paso, collecting a 4.70 ERA and 31:13 K:BB over 30.2 frames.

  • Dylan Lee RP | ATL

Braves' Dylan Lee: Hit hard in loss

Lee (1-3) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up three runs on two hits and a walk over one-third of an inning as Atlanta fell 4-0 to the Angels.

Entering a scoreless tie in the top of the eighth inning, Lee sandwiched a walk to Taylor Ward between doubles by Mike Trout and Jo Adell to allow the game's first run to score, and after the southpaw got the hook he had to watch Enyel De Los Santos let both inherited runners cross the plate. The earned runs were the first on Lee's ledger since May 25, and while he's worked his way into the saves mix thanks to his 2.37 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 40:10 K:BB through 38 innings on the season, Tuesday's usage indicates he's still viewed as more of a high-leverage option than a pure ninth-inning closer.

  • Joey Lucchesi SP | LAA

Giants' Joey Lucchesi: Logs scoreless inning Tuesday

Lucchesi threw a scoreless eighth inning in Tuesday's 8-2 loss to the Diamondbacks, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three.

Lucchesi retired the first two batters he faced before issuing a walk and surrendering a single. However, he escaped the inning after recording his season-high third strikeout, and he threw 13 of his 21 pitches for strikes. The left-hander has appeared in six games in the 2025 campaign, posting a 4.50 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 6:2 K:BB across six innings.

  • Bailey Horn P | DET

Tigers' Bailey Horn: Up with big club for doubleheader

The Tigers recalled Horn from Triple-A Toledo to serve as their 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader with the Nationals.

Horn is expected to be returned to Toledo immediately following the second game of the doubleheader. The lefty reliever previously made his lone relief appearance of the season for Detroit back on April 22 against the Padres, striking out two and allowing one hit over 1.1 scoreless innings.

  • Austin Warren RP | NYM

Mets' Austin Warren: Available for twin bill

The Mets appointed Warren from Triple-A Syracuse to serve as their 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader with the Brewers. He'll be available for the second game of the twin bill.

Warren has been recalled from the minors for the fourth time this season but is expected to be in line for another abbreviated stay with the big club. He's made just two appearances out of the New York bullpen, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings while striking out three batters.
