Schmidt was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Schmidt made the Yankees' Opening Day roster and recorded a 2-2 record in his first four relief appearances of the season. The right-hander posted a 1.08 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 8.1 innings. Although the Yankees need to trim their active roster to 26 players by Monday, it's somewhat surprising to see Schmidt as one of the cuts given his strong performance early in the year. If the team's pitching staff deals with injuries at some point, the 26-year-old will be a candidate to rejoin the big-league club as a starter or bullpen option.

Rodriguez (0-2) allowed six runs (four earned) on eight hits across 5.2 innings to take the loss against the Dodgers on Sunday. He had no walks and struck out five.

Rodriguez allowed three runs on three hits in the second inning, though a Jeimer Candelario throwing error did not help the cause. The lefty settled down after that and kept the Tigers in the game, but Detroit generated only three runs on 10 hits in the 6-3 loss. It's been a sluggish start for the big offseason acquisition, as Rodriguez has a 5.33 ERA through five starts and is still searching for his first win with his new team. It'll be a tough task against a talented Houston squad in his next scheduled outing Saturday.

Keuchel (1-3) allowed four runs on six hits and five walks over five innings Sunday, striking out one and taking a loss against the Angels.

Keuchel's poor afternoon started early when Mike Trout took him deep for a solo shot in the first inning. He then gave up a pair of runs in the third followed by one more in the fourth. He's walked 10 batters over his last two outings, giving him an unsightly 8:11 K:BB through 15 frames. Keuchel will carry an 8.40 ERA into his projected start in Boston next weekend.

Lorenzen (3-1) allowed three runs on nine hits and two walks over 8.1 innings Sunday, striking out two and earning a win over the White Sox.

While the final stat line doesn't look overly impressive, Lorenzen kept the White Sox off the board through eight innings and extended his scoreless streak to 14 frames. He was knocked out of the game after coughing up a two-run double to Leury Garcia and was charged with a third run when Garcia scored later in the inning. Lorenzen will carry a 3.04 ERA into his projected home start against the Nationals next weekend.

Syndergaard (illness) will start Tuesday's game against the Red Sox, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Syndergaard was scratched from Friday's scheduled start against the White Sox due to a non-COVID-19-related illness and ultimately went unused over the weekend. He was cleared to rejoin the Angels on Saturday, and after completing a bullpen session Sunday, he'll be ready to make his first start since April 23. The right-hander was effective in his first three starts with the Angels, posting a 2.12 ERA and 0.82 WHIP in 17 innings.

Ray (2-2) was charged with the loss against the Marlins on Saturday, allowing three earned runs on four hits and four walks across five innings while recording eight strikeouts.

Ray had his swing-and-miss stuff in season-best form Saturday, but he also tied a season high with four walks. The veteran southpaw had mostly breezed through his first four frames before the Marlins got to him in the fifth with a pair of RBI singles and by drawing a free pass with the bases loaded. Ray's first opportunity to make up for the stumble is slated to come at home against the Rays either Thursday or Friday.

The Rangers optioned Allard to Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.

The lefty reliever will cede his spot on the active roster to catcher Jonah Heim, who was reinstated from the paternity list ahead of Sunday's game against Atlanta. Allard was largely been limited to low-leverage work out of the bullpen during the first month of the season, making four appearances while giving up five earned runs on seven hits and two walks across seven frames.

The Angels optioned Suarez to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Suarez was demoted after he surrendered all four of the White Sox's runs while giving up eight hits and two walks over four innings in Saturday's 4-0 loss. The southpaw went 0-2 across his first four starts, submitting a 6.35 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 15:11 K:BB across 17 frames. Assuming the Angels elect to keep their six-man rotation intact, long reliever Jaime Barria could be the top candidate to pick up a start when Suarez's turn comes up again Friday versus the Nationals.

McClanahan (1-2) took the loss Saturday as the Rays fell 9-1 to the Twins, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out 11.

The 11 punchouts were a career high for the 25-year-old, who exited the game after 90 pitches (57 strikes). McClanahan is putting up ace-like ratios so far in 2022 with a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and eye-popping 39.3 percent strikeout rate through 27 innings, but until he can start working deeper into games, he'll have trouble making an impact in wins and quality starts as well.

Irvin didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Guardians, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over six innings while striking out four.

The southpaw dueled Shane Bieber to a 1-1 deadlock through six frames, as Irvin delivered his second quality start of the season on 90 pitches (64 strikes). His poor 15.9 percent strikeout rate is offset by a 49.4 percent groundball rate, and Irvin will take a 2.93 ERA and 1.16 WHIP into his next outing.
