Ryu (glute strain) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

As recently as Tuesday afternoon, the Blue Jays said Ryu was unlikely to miss his turn this weekend in Atlanta, so he either suffered a setback or they weren't being forthright. He will be first eligible to return May 6 in Oakland.

Skubal will start Friday against the Yankees, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Skubal was expected to pitch in some capacity in this game, but he had been piggybacking with Michael Fulmer recently. Instead of continuing with that arrangement, Fulmer will be available out of the bullpen Wednesday and Thursday. Skubal has not thrown more than four innings in an outing since his first appearance of the year, when he went 5.1 innings against Cleveland on April 4.

Astros manager Dusty Baker said Garcia would start Thursday's series finale against the Mariners, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Garcia will be returning to the mound on three days' rest after he made a 26-pitch relief appearance in Sunday's loss to the Angels. With that in mind, Garcia likely won't be asked to work deep into Thursday's start as he steps into the rotation spot that belonged to the injured Jake Odorizzi (forearm). Garcia may be serving as little more than a glorified opener for Kent Emanuel, who will be available to pitch after covering 8.2 innings of long relief last Saturday following Odorizzi's early departure.

Kremer was recalled from the Orioles' alternate training site ahead of his scheduled start against the Yankees on Wednesday.

Kremer will make his fourth start of the season Wednesday, and he could reclaim a spot in the rotation since the Orioles have just one day off in the next two weeks. Kremer posted a 6.75 ERA and 14:6 K:BB in 10.2 innings across his first three starts of the year.

Springs (1-0) was credited with the win in a victory over the Athletics on Tuesday, allowing an earned run on one hit over one inning. He also uncorked a wild pitch and recorded a strikeout.

Springs allowed a Mitch Moreland run-scoring sacrifice fly but was otherwise sharp while getting 12 of his 17 pitches into the strike zone, and he became the pitcher of record when Brett Phillips gave the Rays the lead for good with a solo home run in home half of the sixth inning. The 28-year-old had endured his worst outing of the season his last time out Wednesday against the Royals, so Springs' effort Tuesday was certainly a welcome bounce-back performance.

McClanahan was added to the Rays' taxi squad Wednesday and will be called up to start Thursday's game against Oakland, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

McClanahan will make his regular-season debut Thursday after he allowed one hit and no walks while striking out seven in three scoreless innings this spring. The southpaw flashed triple-digit heat in Grapefruit League play and posted a 3.17 ERA in two minor-league seasons, but he hasn't yet pitched above Double-A in the regular season. Juan Toribio of MLB.com reported this winter that the Rays view McClahanan as a starter, and Topkin relays the 24-year-old will be used as a true starter rather than an opener Thursday.

Giolito (1-2) picked up the loss against the Tigers on Tuesday, giving up four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven over 6.2 innings.

Giolito and the White Sox were clinging to a 2-1 lead when manager Tony La Russa let the right-hander, who had thrown 89 pitches, start the seventh inning, but it all caved in on the pitcher. The Tigers pushed across three runs, and La Russa removed Giolito after a four-pitch walk and 114 pitches. It was Giolito's second straight loss after being roughed up in Boston last week. On the plus side, there was no indication that the cut he sustained on a finger over the weekend had any effect. Chicago's ace is next scheduled to start Sunday at home against Cleveland.

Wacha didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the A's, giving up one run on five hits over five innings. He struck out two without walking a batter.

The right-hander was far from dominant but did pound the strike zone, tossing 52 of 69 pitches for strikes while issuing zero free passes for the first time in five trips to the mound. Wacha will take a 3.86 ERA and 23:8 K:BB through 25.2 innings into his next outing.

Montas (2-2) took the loss Tuesday, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over six innings as the A's were downed 4-3 by the Rays. He struck out five.

The right-hander threw 73 of 105 pitches for strikes as he delivered his third quality start in five trips to the mound, but Montas wound up on the wrong end of the decision thanks largely to a Brett Phillips homer in the sixth inning. Montas will carry a 6.20 ERA and 25:7 K:BB through 24.2 innings into his next outing Sunday at home against the Orioles.

Milone (1-0) earned the win in relief Tuesday against the Nationals after allowing one run on three hits and a walk across his lone inning of work.

Milone entered the game in the third inning to replace the opener, Trent Thornton, and while he gave up a run on a solo shot from Yadiel Hernandez, he looked poised the rest of the way -- he tossed 15 of his 21 pitches for strikes despite not fanning anyone. The veteran lefty has given up runs in four of his five appearances this season, however, so he hasn't exactly been a reliable arm out of the Blue Jays' bullpen despite posting a 16:3 K:BB across 12 innings to date.
