Eovaldi (3-1) secured the win after allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out 10 across 6.1 innings Monday against the White Sox.

Eovaldi gave up the first run of the contest in the top of the first inning on a double to left, but the Red Sox would respond with six runs in the bottom half of the frame. The right-hander pounded the strike zone in his afternoon outing, firing 75 of 100 pitches for strikes. He would later exit with a 10-4 lead. Through four starts in 2021, he owns a 3.04 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with a 24:4 K:BB across 23.2 innings. Eovaldi's next start lines up for Saturday against Seattle.

Giolito (1-1) was chased early and picked up the loss Monday against the Red Sox. He allowed eight runs on seven hits and two walks over one-plus innings.

Giolito, who was pitching on five days rest instead of his customary four, was taken deep by leadoff batter Enrique Hernandez and allowed three runs before recording an out. Per Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times, the ace did not have his best changeup, and the Red Sox sat on it. "It seemed like every time he made a mistake, we made him pay for it," said Hernandez, who homered off a changeup. Giolito eventually left after giving up a home run and a walk to lead off the second. He'll look to shake off the poor outing when he faces Texas on Sunday, once again on five days rest.

Garcia will make a spot start Tuesday against the Rockies, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Garcia will start in place of Lance McCullers (illness). Of all the places to make a spot start, Coors Field certainly isn't ideal, though the unintimidating Rockies lineup means it's at least a bit less scary than it usually is.

McCullers (illness) won't start Tuesday against the Rockies, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

McCullers struggled in his last start while dealing with the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine. He's evidently not yet ready to take his next turn in the rotation, with Luis Garcia set to fill in for him instead. It's not clear when McCullers will return to the mound.

German is slated to start one of the Yankees' four games in their upcoming series against Cleveland, Randy Miller of NJ Advance Media reports.

German made two starts earlier this season for New York, allowing seven runs across a combined seven innings and posting a 7:2 K:BB. He was then sent to the team's alternate training site and impressed in a Triple-A exhibition contest Saturday, allowing one unearned run on two hits across five frames. Manager Aaron Boone indicated that German will be brought back onto the active roster to face Cleveland sometime between Thursday and Sunday, though he did not specify an exact date. That decision may come down to whether the team will opt to give Gerrit Cole and/or Jordan Montgomery an extra day of rest.

Texas manager Chris Woodward said Allard could replace Wes Benjamin as the tandem starter paired with Jordan Lyles, Sam Blum of the Dallas Morning News reports.

The Rangers optioned Benjamin on Saturday after he served as a tandem starter behind Lyles to open the season. Lyles has pitched into the sixth inning in two of three starts, so he's not far from being a traditional starter. It's unclear how much Allard would need to pitch when it's Lyles' turn -- Benjamin threw 5.2 innings over three tandem appearances. The left-handed Allard was barely used over the first 11 days of the season but has been perfect in two outings this past week, fanning eight over four innings.

Bieber (2-1) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out 13 in eight innings to earn the win against the Reds on Sunday.

Bieber earned his second consecutive win Sunday, and he became the first pitcher in MLB history to strike out at least 10 batters in each of his first four starts of the season. The right-hander now carries a 2.45 ERA and 0.92 WHIP with 48 strikeouts in 29.1 innings this year. He'll attempt to remain in the win column at home against the Yankees on Saturday.

Cole (2-1) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and no walks while striking out 10 in 6.1 innings to take the loss against the Rays on Sunday.

Cole had earned wins in each of his last two starts, but he was charged with his first loss of the year by giving up a season-high three runs against Tampa Bay. The right-hander has been quite sharp early in his second season with the Yankees and has posted a 1.82 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 39:3 K:BB in 24.2 innings across four starts. Cole will attempt to return to the win column on the road against Cleveland on Friday.

Ray tossed five scoreless innings Sunday against the Royals. He gave up four hits and six walks while fanning three in a no-decision.

Ray got into trouble early, as he had the bases loaded with one out in the first inning, but he came away unscathed from that jam. He also had the bases loaded in the second and two runners on in the third, but he didn't allow runs despite allowing 10 baserunners during his outing. Ray has pitched 10 innings in two starts this season but has had major control issues, posting a 6:9 K:BB in that stretch.

Singer tossed six scoreless innings Sunday against the Blue Jays, allowing two hits and three walks while fanning six. He didn't factor into the decision.

Singer delivered his best outing of the campaign and limited the Blue Jays to just five baserunners -- only two of them reached scoring position and no one reached third base. The 24-year-old right-hander endured a rough debut this season but has settled since then, giving up just one earned run and posting a 12:3 K:BB over his last 11 innings.
