The Yankees placed Paxton (forearm) on the 10-day injured list Monday.

Paxton's impending move to the IL had been expected for several days after manager Aaron Boone said the lefty would be shut down from throwing for at least two weeks due to a left flexor strain, but New York waited to make the transaction official until this week. New York has yet to announce a replacement in the rotation for Paxton, but the team's schedule will allow it to get by with a four-man rotation until Sept. 1.

Suarez is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Astros, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Suarez had an inauspicious 2020 debut last Thursday against the Giants, recording only four outs while surrendering five runs on five hits and a walk. Though Julio Teheran was more effective while covering five innings of mop-up duty behind Suarez, Angels manager Joe Maddon with give the 22-year-old lefty at least one more chance to redeem himself. Suarez's poor results last week to go along with the tough road matchup with the Astros probably make it best to avoid him as a streaming option.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Morton (shoulder) will throw a 25-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

A successful bullpen session would mark another key checkpoint in the recovery process for Morton, who resumed throwing long toss over the weekend. Unless the Rays elect to accelerate Morton's return to the active roster, he likely won't be reinstated from the injured list this week and will instead face hitters in live batting practice or a simulated game if Tuesday's side session goes according to plan. Morton has been sidelined since Aug. 9 with right shoulder inflammation.

Indians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti confirmed Sunday that McKenzie will remain on the 28-man roster and receive another start this week, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

The 23-year-old righty was electric in his big-league debut Saturday versus the Tigers, working six innings and giving up one run on two hits and a walk while striking out 10. He'll be rewarded with at least one more turn through the rotation for his efforts, with McKenzie tentatively lining up for a start in Friday's series opener in St. Louis. Both Mike Clevinger and Zach Plesac will be eligible to rejoin the roster this week after spending the minimum 10 days at the alternate training site, but if either is added to the rotation, it looks like it will be at the expense of Adam Plutko rather than McKenzie. Plutko's next turn comes up Wednesday against the Twins, but the Indians have yet to commit to him getting the starting nod that day.

Perez will make his next start Friday at home against the Nationals, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Perez, who started Saturday, lines up to pitch Thursday on a five-day schedule, but manager Ron Roenicke opted to give the left-hander an extra day. "We just think that's a better way to do it," Roenicke said. "Trying to keep him and [Nathan Eovaldi] separated also helps; since we've done that it seems to help our bullpen some, so we'll try to continue to do that." Perez tossed a season-high seven innings on 94 pitches Saturday, but the decision to split him and Eovaldi appears to play a larger role in the decision to give him an extra day.

Bundy allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out six across 5.2 innings Sunday against the Athletics. He did not factor into the decision.

Bundy ran into trouble in the first inning after the leadoff hitter reached base on an error. After what should have been the third out of the inning, he surrendered a double and single to allow two runs to cross the plate. He then pitched scoreless ball until the sixth frame, when he got two outs prior to another trio of hits that scored one and left an inherited runner on base -- who eventually crossed the plate. Overall, it was a solid outing for Bundy, who kept the ball in the yard after allowing a pair of home runs in his previous start. Bundy now has a 2.58 ERA with 44 strikeouts across 38.1 innings for the season. He's in line to draw his next start Friday against Seattle.

Montas allowed four earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five across 4.2 innings Sunday against the Angels. He did not factor into the decision.

Montas allowed a three-run home run to Shohei Ohtani in the third inning, spoiling his outing. Though he allowed only one other run, Montas showed a concerning inability to find the zone -- he began only 11 of the 24 batters he faced with a strike and only 56 of his 96 total pitches went for strikes -- on his way to another subpar outing. Since missing a start due to back tightness, Montas has worked only 6.1 innings across two outings while allowing 13 earned runs. For the season, he now has a 5.22 ERA with 28 strikeouts and 16 walks across 29.1 frames. Montas will look to get back on track in his next turn through the rotation, currently penciled in for Friday at Houston.

Carrasco (2-3) allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out four over 3.1 innings as he was charged with the loss Sunday against the Tigers.

Carrasco lasted six innings in each of his first three starts of 2020, but he's fared considerably worse in his last three outings. He's failed to pitch more than 4.1 innings during that time and now carries a 4.50 ERA and 35:15 K:BB over 30 innings during his first six starts. The right-hander will try to right the ship on the road Saturday against the Cardinals.

Bubic (0-4) took the loss Sunday against the Twins, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks across 3.1 innings pitched. He did not record a strikeout.

Bubic has now been the losing pitcher in four of his five starts to start his big-league career. The Twins jumped on him for two runs in the first and added two more in the third. The left-hander will carry a 5.96 ERA into his next start, which is scheduled to come Saturday against the White Sox.

Cease (4-2) allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five across six innings to take the loss Sunday against the Cubs.

Cease turned in another strong outing, but he was outdueled by Yu Darvish. The only runs Cease surrendered came on a two-run home run by Kyle Schwarber in the sixth inning. Cease continued to experience control problems that have popped up in several starts this season, as he now has multiple walks in three of his six outings. Still, he's limited hard contact well and has been able to maintain a 3.13 ERA across 31.2 innings as a result. His next turn through the rotation is currently penciled in for Saturday against Kansas City.
