Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Twins' Jake Odorizzi: Exits after hit in chest
Odorizzi left Friday's game in the fourth inning after getting hit by a batted ball in the chest, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Odorizzi gave up five runs on seven hits with one strikeout over three innings before departing. He was able to walk off on his own power but was noticeably wincing in pain.

Connor Seabold RP | KC
Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Traded to Boston
Seabold was traded from the Phillies to the Red Sox on Friday in exchange for Brandon Workman and Heath Hembree.
Seabold was included in the Phillies' 60-man player pool to begin the season, and he'll now work within the Red Sox organization. It's possible that the right-hander could reach the major-league level at some point during the 2020 season. However, he's likely at least a season away from competing for a more permanent spot on the major-league roster. Seabold posted a 2.25 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 40 innings in seven starts with Double-A Reading last season. Once he reaches the majors, he could presumably serve as a back-end starter or middle reliever.

Kenta Maeda SP | NYY
Twins' Kenta Maeda: Next start pushed back
Maeda will next start Monday in Cleveland rather than Sunday in Kansas City as previously scheduled, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Maeda will get an extra day to rest after carrying a no-hitter into the ninth inning Tuesday against the Brewers and throwing 115 pitches. He'll lose out on a potential two-start week this week but will likely get one next week, as he'll line up to start both Monday in Cleveland and Saturday in Detroit. The Twins haven't announced who will start Sunday in his previously scheduled spot.

Charlie Morton SP | ATL
Rays' Charlie Morton: Weekend start ruled out
Morton (shoulder) is not expected to come off the injured list and make a start in the weekend series against the Blue Jays, Alyson Footer of MLB.com reports.
There had been some optimism Morton would be able to show enough progress to come off the injured list when first scheduled Saturday, but manager Kevin Cash nixed that possibility Thursday. The Rays continue to be short-handed after Yonny Chirinos (elbow) suffered a season-ending injury earlier this week, but Morton will not be rushed back regardless. The veteran was slated for a bullpen session Friday, which could provide further insight as to whether an early-week activation might be in the cards.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Yankees' James Paxton: Heads to injured list
Paxton was placed on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 1 strain of his left forearm flexor Friday.
Paxton's performance has been quite poor all season, and he's posted a 6.64 ERA through five starts. It's unclear whether the injury accounts for all of his struggles, as he didn't complain of discomfort until his most recent outing against the Rays on Thursday. The Yankees are currently scheduled to play just five games in the next 10 days, as their series this weekend was cancelled due to coronavirus cases popping up for the Mets, so they may not need to replace Paxton in the rotation any time soon.

Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA
Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Tommy John surgery confirmed
Rays manager Kevin Cash confirmed Friday that Chirinos would need Tommy John surgery, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Chirinos will almost certainly miss the entirety of the 2021 campaign in addition to the remainder of this season. He should have time to be ready for the start of the 2022 season, at which point he'll be 29 years old. Josh Fleming will be called up to take his place in the rotation.

Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA
Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Expected to need Tommy John surgery
Chirinos' elbow strain will end his season and is expected to lead to Tommy John surgery, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Chirinos battled a triceps injury early in the year and suffered an elbow strain in his first start back from the injured list. Assuming he does indeed need Tommy John surgery, a typical recovery timeline would almost certainly wipe out the entirety of his 2021 campaign, though he should have a good chance to be ready by the beginning of the 2022 season.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Yankees' James Paxton: Diagnosed with flexor strain
Paxton was officially diagnosed with a flexor strain Friday and is expected to head to the injured list, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
Previous reports indicated that Paxton wasn't expected to require Tommy John surgery, though a strained flexor does often lead to such a procedure. How severe this specific strain is and how long the lefty is supposed to be out remain to be seen. Jonathan Loaisiga could move into the rotation in Paxton's absence.

Justin Dunn RP | CHW
Mariners' Justin Dunn: Cleared to start Sunday
Mariners manager Scott Servais said Dunn (ribs) has been cleared to make his next scheduled start Sunday against the Rangers, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Dunn took a liner to the midsection during his last start Monday against the Dodgers, exiting after he allowed six runs over two innings. He was fortunate to escape the outing with little more than sore ribs, an injury that didn't prevent him from completing his between-starts bullpen session without incident. The Mariners likely won't have Dunn work deep into his upcoming start, but he hasn't been able to stick around long in his appearances even when healthy this season. He's covered more than four innings only once in four starts, and he'll take a 7.80 ERA and 1.80 WHIP into Sunday's turn.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Yankees' James Paxton: Not expected to need surgery
Paxton (forearm) is not expected to undergo surgery after getting good news from an MRI on Friday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
Paxton has struggled this season, posting a 6.64 ERA through his first five starts while experiencing a drop in velocity. He experienced discomfort in his forearm and elbow area during his previous outing Thursday against the Rays, but the Yankees believe the issue to be a muscular one and not something which would require surgery.
