Montas (2-2) allowed nine earned runs on six hits and four walks while striking out one across 1.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Montas was wild and hit hard in this short outing, as he allowed two extra-base hits, three walks and threw a wild pitch in the first inning. That led to five earned runs, but the trouble continued in the following frame, as he allowed a leadoff homer as well as two singles and a walk prior to being pulled. It was a disastrous start for Montas, who was making his first start since being scratched Friday with back tightness. He'll look to get back on track in his next turn through the rotation, currently penciled in for Sunday against the Angels.

Bundy (3-2) allowed four earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three across four innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Giants.

Bundy surrendered a home run in each of the first two innings, accounting for three of his four earned runs. He also struggled to find the strike zone, beginning only 10 of the 20 batters he faced with a strike and throwing 41 of his 73 pitches in the strike zone. Bundy has been excellent to start the campaign, as even with the poor outing he has a 2.48 ERA with a 38:7 K:BB across 32.2 innings. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, currently projected to come Monday at Houston.

Greinke had seven strikeouts and gave up three hits and zero walks over eight scoreless innings during Tuesday's 11-inning win versus the Rockies, but he didn't factor in the decision.

The veteran right-hander and Antonio Senzatela each posted eight shutout innings Tuesday, as neither offense was able to figure out the opposing starter. Greinke surrendered three runs over 3.1 innings during his first start of the season, but in his last four outings he has a 1.04 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 23:2 K:BB. He'll try to continue that strong stretch of play Sunday in San Diego.

Nicasio was placed on the restricted list for personal reasons Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Nicasio is travelling home to be with his family in the Dominican Republic, though he reportedly isn't opting out of the season. It's not clear when he's expected to return. Luis Garcia will join the Rangers' bullpen in a corresponding move.

Skubal's contract was selected by the Tigers as expected ahead of his scheduled debut Tuesday against the White Sox.

Skubal was dominant at the Double-A level last season, posting a 2.13 ERA and an incredible 48.2 percent strikeout rate over nine starts. He'll be making a big jump to a much higher level of competition, but that level of dominance at the minor-league level suggests he has the chance to succeed right away. He isn't likely to put up big numbers in his debut Tuesday, however, as he's not expected to throw more than 50 pitches.

Verlander (forearm) played catch Tuesday and felt good afterward, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Verlander has now made an important first step in proving the initial reports that he would miss the entire season with a forearm strain incorrect. He still has a long way to go before returning to game action, but it remains a possibility that he'll be able to do so before the end of the year if he continues progressing without setbacks.

Angels manager Joe Maddon indicated Monday that Detmers could make his major-league debut this season, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Detmers was selected by the Angels in the first round of the 2020 first-year player draft. In a typical season, he would he honing his skills at the minor-league level, but he has instead been working out at the team's alternate training site in Long Beach due to the cancellation of the minor-league season. Detmers' command and mound presence are advanced for a pitcher coming out of college, so the Angels may be willing to see how he fares in the big leagues without him ever having pitched a minor-league game. "It's not out of the question that he may be able to help us this year," Maddon said. "Regarding next year, with a full minor-league system operating, who knows? It's just a matter of functionality of the entire organization, I think, and how you're going to react and treat your better minor-league players. I don't know that answer right now."

Dunn exited Monday's start against the Dodgers after two innings with sore ribs stemming from a comeback liner off the bat of Corey Seager, but the rookie is expected to make his next start Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports.

The 24-year-old had a rough night overall, allowing six earned runs on five hits and a walk over two innings. The rib injury, which occurred in the first inning on a 99.5 mph comebacker, wasn't enough to knock Dunn out of the game, but it did affect him the rest of the way. Dunn mentioned after the game that it specifically prevented him from throwing his slider due to the discomfort the mechanics of deploying that pitch caused. The right-hander will be considered day-to-day ahead of his next scheduled start, which currently lines up for Sunday against the Rangers.

Canning didn't factor into the decision in Monday's game between the Giants and the Angels. He allowed three runs on six hits while striking out two in 4.2 innings.

Canning has pitched five complete innings just once this season and has allowed three or more earned runs three times, so it's really hard to trust him in fantasy leagues right now. The right-hander, who has a 4.70 ERA in 23 innings this season, is lined up to start against the Athletics on the road Aug. 22.

Bassitt didn't factor into the decision in Monday's contest between the Athletics and the Diamondbacks. He allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while fanning three in 5.1 innings.

Bassitt came just two outs away from notching what would've been his second quality start of the season, but he's been trending in the wrong direction of late, giving up seven earned runs in his last 11 innings after beginning the season with just two earned runs in 16.2 frames. Either way, the 31-year-old right-hander has a strong 2.93 ERA following his first five starts of the season.
