Kopech (elbow) will have a normal offseason and will enter spring training with no restrictions, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The right-hander will be 18 months removed from Tommy John surgery by next spring. Kopech will finish up a throwing program over the next several weeks before beginning what is expected to be a routine offseason.

Cole (15-5) earned the win Thursday after holding the Tigers scoreless while striking out 12 over seven innings. He allowed two hits and one walk.

Despite missing more than two weeks with hamstring soreness, the right-hander's velocity hit 99 mph in the first inning and stayed high all night. Cole's strikeout of Jake Rogers in the sixth inning -- his 10th of the game -- matched a franchise record of 14 games in one season with 10 strikeouts or more. The 28-year-old now owns a ridiculous 2.75 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 238:40 K:BB, and he falls just one strikeout behind teammate Justin Verlander. Cole is scheduled to take the hill again on Wednesday against Tampa Bay.

Civale (1-3) allowed two earned runs, four hits and no walks while striking out three across 5.2 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Mets.

Civale had his start cut short by a lengthy rain delay, denying him the chance for a quality start. His only real trouble came in the fourth frame, when he allowed back-to-back doubles that resulted in both of his earned runs crossing the plate. He's made a strong impression in his first five career starts, working 29.2 innings and allowing just six earned runs while racking up 25 strikeouts. He'll look to keep things going in his next outing, currently scheduled for Wednesday at Detroit.

Boyd has been reinstated from the paternity list and will start Sunday's game against Minnesota, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Boyd was initially on track to take the hill Friday night, but after he was placed on the paternity list Tuesday, the Tigers elected to reconfigure their pitching rotation. The southpaw owns a 4.24 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with a 201:37 K:BB over 153 innings this season for Detroit.

Liberatore (back) was activated from the 7-day injured list ahead of Wednesday's start against Low-A Lake County, Emily Waldon of The Athletic reports. He allowed one run on a hit and a walk while striking out two over three innings.

Liberatore was placed on the injured list Aug. 10 due to back spasms, though fortunately, he wasn't sidelined for long. He owns a 3.15 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with a 71:30 K:BB over 74.1 innings this season for Low-A Bowling Green.

Canning was diagnosed with mild inflammation of his right elbow joint, and he will be shut down for the rest of the season.

It's good that he is only dealing with mild inflammation, which will allow him to proceed with a "rest and recover" route rather than surgery. However, he won't pitch again this season, so he can be cut loose in all redraft leagues. Canning had a 4.58 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 96 strikeouts in 90.1 innings during his rookie year. Jose Suarez is replacing him in the rotation.

Severino (lat) is expected to return by the middle of September, according to manager Aaron Boone, Mike Mazzeo of Yahoo Sports reports.

Boone said on WFAN that he expects both Severino and Dellin Betances to return by mid-September. Severino is scheduled to face hitters Thursday and is slightly further along the rehab process than Betances. Barring any setbacks, the 25-year-old Yankees ace will begin making rehab appearances in the near future before making his long-awaited return to the big leagues in an attempt add depth to the Yankees bullpen ahead of the playoffs.

Mejia cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

The 26-year-old left-hander surrendered four earned runs and issued three walks across three innings of work since being claimed off waivers Aug. 8 by the Angels.

Suarez will be called up to start Friday's game in Houston.

Suarez has a 6.75 ERA (6.59 FIP) in 53.1 MLB innings, working almost exclusively as a starter, so he should be avoided in most matchups anyway. With a matchup in Houston, he should avoided in essentially all fantasy formats. He is making the start in place of Griffin Canning (elbow inflammation). The Angels won't need a fifth starter again in August, so Suarez may be sent back to the minors after Friday's outing.

Glasnow (forearm) threw his second bullpen session Wednesday, the Associated Press reports.

Glasnow has now thrown a pair of bullpens in the last three days, certainly an encouraging development. The right-hander is slated for at least one more session off the mound before progressing to live batting practice and a subsequent rehab assignment, and he appears to be on track for an early-September return as a reliever.
