James Paxton SP | BOS
Yankees' James Paxton: Lighter workload coming Wednesday
Paxton (knee) is expected to be limited to around 60-to-75 pitches when he returns from the 10-day injured list to start Wednesday's game against the Padres, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.
Though they were pleased enough with how Paxton looked in a simulated game Friday and bullpen session Sunday to sign off on his return to the rotation, the Yankees plan to ease the lefty back into the mix after a three-plus-week absence. Since he topped out at 60 pitches in the simulated game and didn't go on a minor-league rehab assignment, Paxton won't be ready to handle his usual workload in his first start back. Assuming he escapes Wednesday's outing without any setbacks, Paxton shouldn't face any significant restrictions in his subsequent start.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Yankees' James Paxton: Confirmed as Wednesday's starter
Paxton (knee) confirmed Tuesday that he would return from the injured list to start Wednesday against the Padres, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.
Paxton has missed over three weeks with left knee inflammation but received the green light to return after tossing a 60-pitch simulated game Friday without any significant complications. He owned a strong 3.11 ERA from his seven starts prior to landing on the injured list, but it's possible he'll need some time to knock off the rust after nearly a month-long absence.

Martin Perez SP | ATL
Twins' Martin Perez: Next start coming Thursday
Perez is scheduled to make his next start Thursday against the Rays, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Perez had been in line to start Tuesday's home game against the Brewers, but manager Rocco Baldelli instead elected to push all four healthy members of the rotation back in the schedule. With the Twins calling up Devin Smeltzer from Triple-A Rochester to take the hill Tuesday, Perez will return to the hill on six days' rest, as he'll benefit from an open date in the schedule Wednesday.

Martin Perez SP | ATL
Twins' Martin Perez: Not starting Tuesday
Perez won't make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Brewers.
With rotation mate Michael Pineda (knee) landing on the 10-day injured list, the Twins called up lefty Devin Smeltzer from Triple-A Rochester to fill the opening on the active roster. Though Perez is available to pitch on his normal four days' rest Tuesday, the Twins will instead hand the start to Smeltzer, perhaps suggesting that Perez may be dealing with a health issue, too. More clarity regarding Perez's health and role this week should come when manager Rocco Baldelli meets with the media in the hours leading up to the 8:10 p.m. EDT opening pitch.

Lance Lynn SP | STL
Rangers' Lance Lynn: Falls to 6-4
Lynn (6-4) took the loss against the Mariners on Monday, giving up three earned runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out 10 and walking three as the Rangers lost 5-2.
Lynn turned in his fourth straight quality start and his second straight effort with double-digit strikeouts, but wound up getting tagged with the loss as his offense didn't provide him with much support. The veteran is in a nice groove at the moment, although a handful of blowups still leave his ERA at 4.66 and his WHIP at 1.39 through 67.2 innings.

Tommy Milone SP | SEA
Mariners' Tommy Milone: Gets first win of season
Milone (1-1) picked up the win against the Rangers on Monday, giving up two earned runs on four hits over 5.2 innings, striking out seven and walking one as the Mariners prevailed 6-2.
Coming off a solid effort in his season debut, Milone turned in another good outing and picked up his first win of the season. With Felix Hernandez (lat) on the injured list, Milone should continue to hold down the fifth spot in the rotation until he returns.

JC Ramirez SP | LAA
Angels' JC Ramirez: Beginning rehab stint at High-A
Ramirez (elbow) is set to begin a rehab assignment at High-A Inland Empire on Thursday, Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Ramirez continues to battle back from Tommy John surgery, and he'll take another big step forward Thursday. He'd previously thrown two innings in an extended spring training game a week ago.

Chris Bassitt SP | BAL
Athletics' Chris Bassitt: Picks up win despite poor showing
Bassitt (3-1) surrendered five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings Monday in a win over the Angels.
Bassitt yielded a run in the second inning, two in the fourth and two more in the sixth prior to exiting the contest. Luckily for him, the Athletics were able to put six runs on the board by the time he was lifted from the ballgame. The right-hander failed to get through four full innings his last time out, so even though he wasn't at his best, Bassitt did make it through five frames and emerge victorious. He owns a 3.27 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 47 punchouts over 41.1 innings this season.

Brady Singer SP | CIN
Royals' Brady Singer: Advancing to Double-A
Singer has been promoted to Double-A Northwest Arkansas, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
Singer began his 2019 campaign at High-A Wilmington, but he's earned a promotion after posting a 2.13 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with a 49:11 K:BB over 50.2 innings. After being selected in the first round of the 2018 first-year player draft out of Florida, Singer has fared well through his first nine starts in the minor leagues.

Gerrit Cole SP | NYY
Astros' Gerrit Cole: Ties season high with 12 K's
Cole (5-5) picked up the win in Monday's 6-5 victory over the Cubs, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk over six innings while striking out 12.
The 12 K's tied his season high, and after Anthony Rizzo took him deep in the first inning, Cole put the Cubs' offense on lockdown. The right-hander has reached double-digit whiffs in half of his 12 starts this season, and he'll take a 4.02 ERA and eye-popping 112:18 K:BB through 71.2 innings into his next outing Sunday in Oakland.
