Alex Cobb SP | DET
Orioles' Alex Cobb: Could return when first eligible
Manager Brandon Hyde said Cobb (back) should be ready to come off the injured list when first eligible April 16, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
Cobb landed on the shelf prior to his previous start with a lumbar strain, but it doesn't sound like the issue will force him to miss much time. Assuming the southpaw avoids any setbacks during the next week, he should be cleared to rejoin the rotation against the Rays on April 16. In his lone start this season, Cobb allowed two runs while striking out four in 5.2 innings against the Yankees.

Parker Bridwell SP | LAA
Angels' Parker Bridwell: Returns to Los Angeles
Bridwell agreed Tuesday with the Angels on a minor-league contract, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Bridwell will look to get his career back on track with the organization where he previously enjoyed his most success. During his age-25 campaign in 2017, Bridwell made 20 starts for the Halos, going 10-3 with a 3.64 and 1.20 WHIP over 121 innings. Since then, he's seen limited action in both the majors and minors while battling elbow problems and looked like a shell of himself this spring even though he received a clean bill of health. The Angels will presumably send him to Triple-A Salt Lake to see if there's anything still left in the tank.

Kyle Gibson SP | BAL
Twins' Kyle Gibson: Fails to finish fifth inning
Gibson allowed three runs on six hits and three walks across 4.2 innings during Tuesday's 14-8 win over the Mets. He recorded six strikeouts but did not qualify for the decision.
Gibson had a 6-3 lead entering the fifth inning but was unable to work through the frame as he gave up a double and two walks, ending his evening at 97 pitches. The 31-year-old couldn't secure the victory and was lucky to escape with only three runs allowed, given that he exited with the bases loaded. Gibson has pitched 4.2 innings during each of his first two starts and will look to buck that trend Sunday against the Tigers.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Next start moved up
Snell is scheduled to make a second start this week Saturday against the Blue Jays, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
With a couple of days off over the next week, the Rays will temporarily shorten their rotation. Manager Kevin Cash has opted to forgo back-to-back "bullpen days" to instead restart the rotation Saturday with Snell on his normal allotment of four days' rest. After a rocky opener, Snell has excelled over his last two starts, allowing just a single earned run on eight hits and a walk over 13 innings while generating a sparkling 24:1 K:BB.

Marco Gonzales RP | TEX
Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Notches fourth win
Gonzales (4-0) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out five across six innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Royals.
Gonzales allowed runs in the first and third innings before settling in to record his third quality start of the season. After two decent but unspectacular outings to begin the campaign, Gonzales has combined to allow three earned runs across his last 14.1 innings of work. Though he's notched only 16 strikeouts in 25.2 frames, he has allowed only two home runs, both of which came in his first start in Japan.
-
Gerrit Cole SP | NYY
Astros' Gerrit Cole: Goes seven innings
Cole allowed three earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out six across seven innings Tuesday against the Yankees. He did not factor into the decision.
Cole settled in after allowing a first-inning home run to Luke Voit. However, he was tagged for two more earned runs in the sixth inning after walking the first two batters of the inning, both of whom were ultimately doubled home by Gary Sanchez. While Cole is still searching for his first win of the season, he is providing strong ratios and has also racked up 25 strikeouts in 19 innings of work.
-
John Means SP | KC
Orioles' John Means: Tabbed for another start
Means (1-1) took the loss against the Athletics on Tuesday by allowing five runs (one earned) on four hits over three innings. He had one strikeout and one walk.
Means was going to be limited to four or five innings Tuesday, but a five-run second inning -- elongated by an error -- ended up spelling an earlier finish to his evening. Alex Cobb (back) returned to the injured list, which will give Means at least one more look in the starting rotation, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports.

Luis Severino SP | ATH
Yankees' Luis Severino: Shut down with lat strain
Severino (shoulder) was diagnosed Tuesday with a Grade 2 lat strain and will be shut down for the next six weeks, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.
Severino underwent the MRI after he didn't feel right during his most recent session of long toss, but he apparently didn't aggravate his shoulder and suffered a new injury while rehabbing, per Adler. According to Jack Curry of YES Network, the 25-year-old may not return until early or mid-July, as it will take some time for him to build up his arm strength once he resumes throwing.
-
Andrew Heaney RP | LAD
Angels' Andrew Heaney: Resumes throwing
Heaney (elbow) played catch Tuesday for the first time since receiving a cortisone injection, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Heaney received the injection April 1 and was expected to resume throwing within 7-to-10 days, so to this point he is right on schedule. The 27-year-old still has significant work to do as he ramps up his throwing program and remains without an official timetable for his return, though the expectation is that he'll be sidelined for at least another month, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.

Charlie Morton SP | ATL
Rays' Charlie Morton: Picks up second win
Morton (2-0) allowed two runs on three hits while striking out seven and walking three across five innings in a victory against the White Sox on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old lasted only five frames for the second straight start, but he was very good again. He walked a couple too many Tuesday, but none of those walks scored, and he still has 21 strikeouts versus just seven walks through three outings. Overall, Morton is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 16 innings this season. Morton is expected to start again Sunday against the Blue Jays.
