Dylan Bundy SP | NYM
Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Picks up win in quality start
Bundy (8-14) earned the win in Thursday's 5-3 victory over the Athletics. He allowed two earned runs, six hits and no walks while striking out eight over six innings.
Bundy looked sharp in his first quality start since Aug. 4, but he has still allowed at least six earned runs in four of his last seven starts. Though he's not a reliable fantasy option, the strikeouts (166 over 156 innings in 2018) are encouraging, and mixed-league players who need punchouts down the stretch could benefit from him if he's on the waiver wire. He'll carry a 5.48 ERA into his next start, scheduled for Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Dealing with pneumonia
Paxton is dealing with some form of pneumonia, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Paxton did not travel to Los Angeles with the Mariners and won't take the mound for his scheduled start against the Angels on Friday, though manager Scott Servais said he's hoping the southpaw will be able to rejoin the starting rotation at some point during their 10-game road trip, which runs through Sept. 23. The Mariners are expected to go with a bullpen day in his absence Friday.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Orioles' Alex Cobb: Out at least another week
Cobb (finger) will be sidelined for at least one more week, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Cobb is set to miss his next start due to a blister. If all goes well, the Orioles are hoping the right-hander will be able to rejoin the starting rotation during the team's three-game series against the Yankees that runs Sept. 21-23. It's still unknown who will take his turn in the rotation Sunday.

Marco Gonzales RP | TEX
Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Pitch count to be monitored
Gonzales will see his pitch count carefully monitored during his remaining starts, David Gottlieb of MLB.com reports. "I don't think you're going to see us extend him out to 100 pitches or anything like that," manager Scott Servais said. "But I think it is important he continues to finish out the season, finish out the month of September. This is uncharted waters for him."
The lefty fired a modest 66 pitches through five innings last Tuesday against the Padres, and Servais seems to imply that this will be par for the course for what remains of the regular season. Now having logged 150.2 innings in 2018, Gonzales is only six away from the most he's ever thrown in his professional career. Consequently, the team wants to be cautious, especially considering this is Gonzales' first full season since April 2016 Tommy John surgery.

Chris Sale SP | ATL
Red Sox's Chris Sale: So far, so good after start
Sale reported no ill effects after his one-inning, 26-pitch appearance Tuesday, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.
Sale played a game of catch Wednesday and will follow that up with a bullpen session Friday, which will be key. After Sale's first return from a shoulder issue, it took a couple of days for the irritation to return, so the Red Sox will be monitoring him closely. He's expected to start against the Mets on Sunday, but the Red Sox will not confirm that just yet. When he does pitch, Sale will likely not pitch a normal starter's workload but certainly more than the one inning he pitched Tuesday.

Odrisamer Despaigne SP | MIA
Angels' Odrisamer Despaigne: Will start Thursday
Despaigne will start Thursday's series opener against the Mariners, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Despaigne was briefly shifted to the bullpen after making three uninspiring starts (7.50 ERA) since joining the Angels in mid-August. Thursday was initially expected to be a bullpen game, but that gameplan may not be far off from reality after the swingman failed to complete more than four frames in any of his previous three starts.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Quality start in no-decision
Rodon allowed two runs on five hits and five walks while striking out five over six innings in Wednesday's win over the Royals. He did not factor into the decision.
Rodon walked five batters for the second start in a row and saw a fair amount of traffic on the bases, but he was able to work around it for a quality start thanks in part to three double plays. The lefty has struggled with command for much of the year with 84:48 K:BB over 110.1 innings, but he still carries an impressive 3.10 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. He'll next take the mound Wednesday against Cleveland.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Twins' Jake Odorizzi: Allows just one hit in win
Odorizzi (6-10) got the win Wednesday, allowing one run on one hit and three walks while striking out five over 7.1 innings against the Yankees.
Odorizzi carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning, allowing his first and only hit on an RBI double to Greg Bird against the final batter he'd face. Though he wasn't overpowering in terms of strikeouts, it was easily Odorizzi's best outing of the season and marked the first time he was able to work into the eighth inning all year. He sports a 4.41 ERA and 153:64 K:BB across 155 innings heading into Tuesday's start in Detroit.

Luis Severino SP | ATH
Yankees' Luis Severino: Tough-luck loss vs. Minnesota
Severino (17-8) took the loss Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits while striking out five without a walk over 5.2 innings against the Twins.
Severino put together a solid outing, but he was outdueled on the other side by Minnesota starter Jake Odorizzi, who took a no-hitter into the eighth inning. The 24-year-old exited after 83 pitches (52 strikes) with a pair of runners on in the sixth inning and has now failed to complete six frames five times in his last six starts. While he's had a rocky second half to the season and hasn't been able to work deep into ball games lately, Severino may be starting to right the ship somewhat, as he's allowed three or fewer runs in four of his last five. He'll take a 3.46 ERA into Wednesday's start against the Red Sox.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Orioles' Alex Cobb: Won't make next start
Cobb (finger) will not make his scheduled start Sunday against the White Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Cobb exited his last start after just two innings with a blister, and the issue is apparently bothersome enough to cost him at least one turn through the rotation. It's unclear who will start in place of Cobb or how long the right-hander will be sidelined.
