Astros' Charlie Morton: Put on DL with shoulder injury
Morton was placed on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday due to right shoulder discomfort, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.
General manager Jeff Luhnow only anticipates Morton missing one start, so there's a decent chance he will be back in action next weekend in Boston. This move came just after the club announced that Morton would have his next start pushed back due to rest. In a corresponding move, Chris Devenski (hamstring) was reinstated from the disabled list.

Astros' Charlie Morton: Next start pushed back
Morton will have his next start pushed back a few days in order to receive some extra rest, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The Astros are leaving Saturday's starter as "TBA" for the time being, while Gerrit Cole will take the hill Sunday versus the Angels. It's unclear whether Morton will receive just one extra day off and pitch Monday, but expect him to toe the rubber at some point during the club's three-game set against Minnesota next week. On the year, Morton has logged a 3.14 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with an 11.0 K/9 across 152 innings.

Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA
Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Hit hard Tuesday
Chirinos tossed five innings in relief during Tuesday's 9-5 loss to the Braves and gave up five runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks. He struck out three in the 81-pitch outing.
As expected, Chirinos entered the contest after opener Ryne Stanek exited and handled the bulk of the innings out of the bullpen. The right-hander wasn't especially sharp and was on track to take the loss after departing with the Rays trailing 5-4, but Tampa Bay ended up tying the game in the eighth inning to take Chirinos off the hook. With Chirinos logging five-plus innings in six of his past seven appearances, it appears he'll continue to serve as a de facto starter out of the bullpen, but it may often be difficult to predict when he'll be scheduled to pitch at the start of a given week.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Red Sox's Nathan Eovaldi: Getting help from HOFer
Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez worked with Eovaldi at Fenway Park on Tuesday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
Martinez said he noticed something with Eovaldi, the starter Boston acquired from Tampa Bay before the non-waiver trade deadline. Eovaldi pitched 15 scoreless innings in his first two starts for Boston, but has a 7.41 ERA and 2.24 WHIP in four starts since. It's unclear what specifically Martinez noticed, but we should get glimpse of any tweaks when Eovaldi toes the rubber Friday on the road against the White Sox.

Charlie Morton SP | ATL
Astros' Charlie Morton: Walks four in no-decision
Morton allowed three runs on three hits in 4.2 innings Tuesday against the A's, striking out three and walking four in a no-decision.
The three runs Morton allowed came from a three-run home run off the bat of Matt Olson in the third inning. Although Morton hasn't made it past the fifth inning in three straight starts he still has 17 quality starts on the year and is 6-3 with a 3.84 ERA over his last 15 outings. The right-hander ranks in the top 10 among AL starters in wins (13), ERA (3.14) and strikeouts (185). His next start will be against the Angels at home.

Kyle Gibson SP | BAL
Twins' Kyle Gibson: Allows five runs in loss to Cleveland
Gibson (7-11) allowed five runs on eight hits and three walks across 5.1 innings Tuesday while taking the loss against Cleveland. He struck out four.
Gibson allowed a steady stream of baserunners on the evening and was scored upon in three different innings. He threw just 58 percent of his pitches for strikes and could've suffered an even worse fate if not for 11 groundball outs. Gibson has struggled over his last two outings, allowing nine earned runs across 10 combined innings in a pair of losses. His ERA has risen to 3.79 ahead of his next scheduled start this weekend against the Rangers.

Lance Lynn SP | STL
Yankees' Lance Lynn: Falters during sixth inning
Lynn allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk over 5.2 innings during Tuesday's 5-4 win over the White Sox. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.
Lynn held the White Sox in check through the first four innings but allowed one run in the fifth and two more runs in the sixth to end his evening. The veteran right-hander allowed five runs in each of his previous two starts, so Tuesday's effort was a step in the right direction even if it wasn't pretty. The 31-year-old has a 4.84 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 138:71 K:BB heading into Sunday's scheduled start against the Tigers.

Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Strikes out 11 in win over Twins
Carrasco (16-7) struck out 11 across 7.2 shutout innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Twins, allowing four hits and two walks in the process.
Carrasco was at the top of his game, throwing 68 percent of his pitches for strikes as he recorded his second-highest punchout total of the season. He also limited baserunners to great effect and allowed just one runner to reach second base. Carrasco is in the midst of one of hie best stretches of the season, going at least seven scoreless innings in three of his last four starts. He'll take a diminishing 3.38 ERA into a favorable matchup with the Rays this weekend.

Matthew Boyd SP | CHC
Tigers' Matt Boyd: Yields five in loss
Boyd (8-12) took the loss Tuesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four over six innings against the Royals.
All of the damage came in a five-run third inning in which the first four batters reached. Boyd allowed four hits -- including a leadoff home run -- and two walks in all in the frame. The lefty has alternated good and bad starts over his last six, nabbing the win while allowing zero or one run in three while taking the loss and conceding at least four in the other three. He sports a 4.22 ERA and 1.14 WHIP heading into Sunday's matchup against the Yankees.

Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI
Athletics' Jesus Luzardo: May be shut down for 2018
Luzardo was scratched from Wednesday's start for Triple-A Nashville, perhaps due to an innings restriction, Nashville Sounds' broadcaster Jeff Hem reports.
Luzardo has thrown 109.1 innings across High-A, Double-A and Triple-A this season after totaling 43.1 innings at rookie ball in 2017. The Athletics apparently have a ceiling of 125 innings for their young left-hander, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports, but at this point there has yet to be official confirmation that the 20-year-old has been shut down for the season.
