  • Domingo German SP | PIT

Yankees' Domingo German: Sent to Triple-A

German (2-6) was roughed up for four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three across 3.2 innings as he took the loss Friday against the Mets. He was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following the game, Marc Carig of The Athletic New York reports.

The Mets put up three runs against German in the first inning, following by one more in the third. He exited the game with a 4-1 deficit. German has struggled to a 5.68 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with a 95:32 K:BB over 82.1 innings this season. He'll need to turn things around in the minors before he's offered another chance with the big club.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners' James Paxton: In line to start Tuesday

The Mariners are listing Paxton (back) as their probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Giants, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Paxton was removed in the first inning of his last start July 12 against the Angels due to a bout of back stiffness, resulting in his placement on the 10-day disabled list a day later. Since Paxton wasn't scheduled to pitch again before the All-Star break, it appears his move to the DL was made primarily to give the Mariners some more roster flexibility in the short term. The transaction also provided the benefit of added healing time for Paxton, who has already accrued 119.1 innings this season and doesn't have a track record of durability.

  • Marco Gonzales RP | TEX

Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Scheduled to start Sunday

Gonzales (calf) will make his next scheduled start Sunday against the White Sox, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Gonzalez took a line drive off his left calf in his final start before the All-Star break July 11 against the Angels, but he remained in the game and picked up his 10th win while tossing seven scoreless innings. With a full 10 days off to heal up, Gonzales shouldn't face any restrictions in his return to the mound and looks like a solid play in most fantasy formats as he takes on a White Sox offense that has the second-highest strikeout rate (25.5 percent) in the majors this season.

  • Alex Faedo SP | TB

Tigers' Alex Faedo: Claims first victory at Double-A

Faedo tossed seven scoreless innings and struck out four for Double-A Erie in its 2-0 win over Richmond on Monday.

While it took Faedo four starts to pick up his first Double-A win, he has been generally solid since making the move to the Eastern League. Over 21.1 innings, Faedo has posted a 3.80 ERA and 1.09 WHIP, though a weak 16:10 K:BB and .187 BABIP hints that some regression could be coming. One of three pitchers selected by the Tigers in the first round the past three years, Faedo's lack of overpowering, swing-and-miss stuff might keep his ceiling lower than 2018 pick Casey Mize or 2016 pick Matt Manning, but the 22-year-old projects as a dependable mid-rotation arm.

  • Chris Sale SP | ATL

Red Sox's Chris Sale: Gets All-Star Game starting nod

Sale will serve as the American League's starting pitcher in Tuesday's All-Star Game, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Sale and Yankees ace Luis Severino were the leading candidates to open the game for the American League, with manager A.J. Hinch ultimately opting for the former's experience. It's expected that Sale will only pitch an inning or two Tuesday before exiting the contest. He's lined up to make his first post-break start for the Red Sox on Sunday in Detroit.

  • Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Works in relief Sunday

Carrasco picked up a win in relief Sunday during the Indians' 5-2 triumph over the Yankees. He tossed a perfect inning and struck out two.

Carrasco may have missed out on a two-start week, but that didn't prevent him from scooping up two wins. Manager Terry Fracona elected to make the right-hander available out of the bullpen on three days' rest for the Tribe's final game of the first half, and Carrasco shined as the setup man for closer Cody Allen. After Carrasco retired the side on 14 pitches, the Indians broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the bottom of the eighth to propel him to his 11th win. Carrasco is expected to slot back into the rotation following the All-Star break, with his first outing most likely coming during next weekend's series in Texas.

  • Deck McGuire SP | TOR

Angels' Deck McGuire: Struggles in no-decision

McGuire allowed three earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two across three innings Sunday against the Dodgers. He did not factor into the decision.

The Dodgers did their damage against McGuire in the second inning, led by a solo home run by Yasmani Grandal. McGuire has struggled mightily in three starts this season, allowing 11 earned runs across 10.1 innings, and he now has a 6.46 ERA and 1.56 WHIP through 23.2 innings.

  • Marcus Stroman SP | NYY

Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Tagged with loss Sunday

Stroman (2-7) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out four across five innings as he took the loss Sunday against the Red Sox.

Boston got to Stroman in the first inning for two runs and added two more in the fifth before the 27-year-old was lifted. Stroman has been inconsistent over his last four starts, collecting a 2-2 record with 11 earned runs and 15 strikeouts over 23.2 innings. He'll look to turn around a subpar first half, heading into the All-Star break with a 5.86 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with 52 strikeouts over 66 innings.

  • Astros' Justin Verlander: Coughs up four homers in loss

Verlander (9-5) threw six innings Sunday, allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits while striking out 12 and taking the loss against the Tigers. He struck out 12 and allowed four home runs.

John Hicks got things started with a two-run shot off Verlander in the second inning. Verlander would allow three solo homers as the game progressed. On the bright side, the 35-year-old's 12 strikeouts marked the second-best performance he's produced this season, and he's fanned 28 batters in just three July starts. He'll carry his 2.29 ERA to Coors Field against the Rockies next Wednesday.

  • White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Earns win in scoreless outing

Giolito (6-8) fired 6.1 scoreless innings Sunday, yielding three walks and two hits while striking out six and earning the win in the 10-1 victory over Kansas City.

Giolito has walked at least three batters in his last four outings, but Sunday was his first scoreless start of 2018. His ERA is still an unsightly 6.18, but that's the lowest it's been since his second start of the season. The 24-year-old has a 63:60 K:BB in 103.1 innings, including a 12:9 across 18.2 innings in July. If the White Sox keep their rotation in the same alignment after the All-Star break, Giolito will take on the Angels next Tuesday.
