  • Deck McGuire SP | TOR

Angels' Deck McGuire: Recalled by Angels

McGuire was called back up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Jeff Fletcher of the Southern California News Group reported that the Angels' starter for Thursday's game is now TBA, which could imply that Tyler Skaggs -- who was scheduled to take the mound -- will no longer be able to pitch. If that's the case, McGuire will likely rejoin the rotation after making a spot start against the Orioles on Sunday.

  • Vidal Nuno SP | WAS

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Officially lands on DL

Nuno was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain prior to Wednesday's game, Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times reports.

Nuno suffered the injury during Tuesday's 16-inning win, as a pinch runner took his place following the pitcher's second base hit of the game in Miami. In addition to his exploits at the plate, Nuno was solid on the mound, tossing two clean innings in relief to pick up his third win of the season. Assuming Nuno's injury doesn't prove to be too severe, expect him to return shortly after the All-Star break. Over nine appearances with the Rays this season, Nuno has logged a 1.50 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 24 frames.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Loses catcher, no problem

Keuchel (5-8) allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out seven over seven innings in Tuesday's 5-3 win over Texas.

Keuchel's batterymate, Max Stassi, left the game in the first inning after getting hit by a pitch on the hand, so it was up to backup Tim Federowicz, recently called up to replace the injured Brian McCann (knee), to guide the left-hander through the 102-degree temperatures in Arlington. And the duo handled it with aplomb. Keuchel struck out six of the first seven batters he faced, didn't allow a hit until the third inning and lasted seven innings for the first time since May 13, which was also the last time he gave up fewer than five hits. The bearded lefty will look to make it four quality starts in five games when he faces the White Sox at home Sunday.

  • Chris Bassitt SP | BAL

Athletics' Chris Bassitt: Strikes out six in no-decision

Bassitt struck out six and walked three in 4.2 innings against the Padres on Tuesday, allowing two runs on seven hits in a no-decision.

Bassitt gave up just one extra-base hit in the start -- a double by Wil Myers -- and needed 88 pitches (58 strikes) to get through 4.2 innings. In five starts this year Bassitt has a 3.00 ERA and 1.33 WHIP, and has thrown two quality starts. There are several A's starting pitchers that might be coming off the disabled list soon (Daniel Mengden, Brett Anderson and Daniel Gosset) so it remains to be seen what Bassitt's role will be in the second half.

  • Shane Bieber SP | TOR

Indians' Shane Bieber: Improves to 4-0

Bieber (4-0) allowed four runs on nine hits in a win over the Royals on Tuesday, striking out two and walking one in six innings.

Bieber gave up four runs early -- a two-run homer by Lucas Duda in the first inning and a couple RBI base hits in the second inning -- but settled down the rest of the way. The young righty had allowed no more than one run in his previous three starts, and was coming off two consecutive quality starts. He's sporting a 2.97 ERA with a 29:5 K:BB in 30.1 innings this season. Bieber will next take on the Reds in a start at home.

  • Andrew Heaney RP | LAD

Angels' Andrew Heaney: Fans 10 in loss

Heaney (4-6) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out 10 over seven innings in a loss to the Mariners on Tuesday.

The Angels couldn't muster much of anything against Wade LeBlanc and company and thus Heaney was stuck with another loss, but this was an encouraging bounce-back performance after his three-homer blowup against Boston last week. Heaney induced 18 swinging strikes on 106 pitches and matched his season high in strikeouts. He had managed more than five strikeouts just once in his previous seven starts coming into Tuesday. The lefty is tentatively lined up to start Sunday's series finale against the Dodgers.

  • White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Tagged for seven runs

Giolito gave up seven earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings Tuesday against the Reds. He did not factor in the decision.

Things are not getting any better for Giolito. His ERA was 6.91 on May 13 and his ERA is now 6.93 on July 3. It would not be surprising if he were sent to Triple-A in the near future to try to regain some confidence.

  • Domingo German SP | PIT

Yankees' Domingo German: Lasts only 4.1 innings

German pitched 4.1 innings during Tuesday's win over the Braves, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks. He struck out six and did not qualify for the decision.

German was tossing a shutout until the fifth inning when he allowed a two-run home run to Ender Inciarte and a solo shot to Ozzie Albies, and was then pulled after allowing consecutive singles. The 25-year-old has a 5.37 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 81 strikeouts across 68.2 innings with 13 home runs allowed, and next lines up to start at Toronto on Sunday.

  • Alex Cobb SP | DET

Orioles' Alex Cobb: Quality start in loss

Cobb (2-10) gave up three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five in 6.2 innings Tuesday in Philadelphia. He took the loss.

Cobb now has five quality starts in his last 10 outings, but when he gets hit, he gets hit hard, keeping his season ERA north of 6.50 over that stretch. His next start should come Sunday in Minnesota.

  • Vidal Nuno SP | WAS

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Likely headed to DL

Nuno, who left Tuesday's game against the Marlins with a tweaked hamstring, will likely hit the 10-day disabled list, Juan Toribio of The Athletic Tampa Bay reports.

He picked up the win after firing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, but was replaced by a pinch runner after getting his second hit of the night in Miami.
