  • Trevor Oaks SP | LAD

Royals' Trevor Oaks: Likely returns to start Wednesday

Oaks is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Omaha to start Wednesday's game against the Indians, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.

Ian Kennedy landed on the disabled list Tuesday with an oblique strain, creating an opening in the Royals' rotation for Wednesday. It remains unclear just how long Kennedy is expected to be sidelined, but he will be eligible to return July 10. Oaks has made three appearances for the Royals this season, allowing five runs on 12 hits over five innings during his lone start back in late April.

  • Twins' Jake Odorizzi: Takes loss in Milwaukee

Odorizzi (3-6) took the loss against the Brewers on Tuesday, allowing two runs on four hits across five innings. He recorded nine strikeouts and issued four walks.

Eric Thames brought home the only two runs of the game with a two-run blast during the fifth inning, saddling Odorizzi with the loss as the Twins' bats remained dormant. The right-hander pitched well but again struggled with control with the four free passes and has now issued 16 walks over his last 21.2 innings. The 28-year-old has a 4.57 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 18 starts this season, and is slated for a quality matchup against the Orioles on Sunday.

  • Deck McGuire SP | TOR

Angels' Deck McGuire: Returns to Salt Lake

McGuire was sent down to Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of the Southern California News Group reports.

McGuire was roughed up during his first big-league start of the season against Baltimore on Sunday, allowing five earned runs in just 3.1 innings of work. With the Angels' staff wearing thin due to injuries, there was a chance for McGuire to remain in the rotation for more than one turn, but manager Mike Scioscia decided to go a different route. Look for him to continue getting regular starts at the Triple-A level as he remains a candidate for spot starts moving forward.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Rangers' Martin Perez: Set for another rehab start

Perez (elbow) will make another minor-league start in the coming days, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

This will mark Perez's third rehab outing as he continues to work back from a right elbow nerve injury. The 27-year-old is hoping to return before the All-Star break, claiming that he's ready to go right now, but more will be known following his next start in the minors.

  • Dylan Bundy SP | NYM

Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Throws bullpen session

Bundy (ankle) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The session was Bundy's second since hitting the disabled list with a sprained left ankle. He's scheduled to return July 6 in Minnesota and appears on track to do so, barring setbacks.

  • Kyle Gibson SP | BAL

Twins' Kyle Gibson: Takes no-decision against Brewers

Gibson was charged with four runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Monday.

He ran into trouble in the fifth inning, allowing four straight hits -- including a homer -- before recording an out. The right-hander was still in line for the win even after the rough fifth, but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead and secure the victory, which has been a common theme throughout the first half. Gibson has just two wins to show for his efforts through 100.2 innings this season. He lines up for favorable home starts against Baltimore and Tampa Bay in his final two outings before the All-Star break.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Bounces back against Kansas City

Kluber (12-4) allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out five over six innings in a win over the Royals on Monday. He did not issue a walk.

Kluber wasn't at his best -- he was behind in counts most of the night, throwing first-pitch strikes to just 11 of 25 batters faced, and also gave up a home run. That said, it was still an encouraging performance after Kluber failed to make it out of the second inning against the Cardinals last week. Even with a couple recent stumbles, Kluber is still among the top 10 in the American League in most traditional pitching categories, ranking second in wins and WHIP (0.87). He lines up to face the A's at home Sunday.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Rays' Nathan Eovaldi: Tosses quality start for no-decision

Eovaldi tossed six innings of two-run ball in a no-decision Monday against the Marlins, allowing eight hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Eovaldi endured his share of baserunners in this one, but he allowed just two extra-base hits and induced 11 groundball outs to help mitigate the damage. He allowed a run on three hits in the second inning and another via a solo home run in the fifth. Though he completed his second straight quality start, Eovaldi received little run support and never really had a shot at a win. Things are looking up for the right-hander, who's posted a 14:3 K:BB while allowing just two earned runs across 12 total innings over his last two starts. He'll next get the ball in a favorable matchup with the Mets this weekend.

  • Twins' Adalberto Mejia: Optioned to Triple-A

Mejia was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

Mejia made his season debut Saturday against the Cubs, allowing four runs in four innings. He was expected to make another turn through the rotation Thursday against the Orioles, but after further deliberation, the Twins opted to send him back to the minors for further refinement. Zack Littell was promoted from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move and could be in line for Thursday's start if he's not needed in relief the next three days.

  • Domingo German SP | PIT

Yankees' Domingo German: Next start coming Tuesday

German is listed as the Yankees' probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Braves, MLB.com reports.

Due to Luis Cessa making a spot start June 27 and the Yankees having an open date in the schedule the following day, German moved to the bullpen last week as New York streamlined its rotation. With the team set to play its fifth game in five days Tuesday, German will return to a starting role and will be looking for redemption after he was tagged for six runs on nine hits over three innings by the Rays in his last turn through the rotation June 24. With an excellent 75:21 K:BB over 64.1 innings this season, German offers more upside than his 5.32 ERA indicates, but he'll need to do a better job of reining in the long ball (11 home runs allowed) in order to avoid the blowup outings that have sullied his season-long numbers.
