  • Twins' Adalberto Mejia: Starting rehab assignment Wednesday

Mejia (biceps) will begin a rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Rochester.

Mejia reported no issues with his strained left biceps while he completed a bullpen session last week, so the Twins will have him test things out against hitters in his first game appearance since Aug. 8. The rookie will undoubtedly face some sort of pitch count Wednesday, so he could need an additional start in the minors before returning from the 10-day disabled list in September. Once Mejia is activated, he'll most likely replace Dillon Gee in the Twins' rotation.

  • Mariners' Christian Bergman: Moves back up to Seattle

The Mariners selected Bergman's contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Bergman will rejoin the Mariners to provide the team with a long-relief option after Dan Altavilla, who was optioned to Tacoma in a corresponding move, tossed three innings in Sunday's loss to the Yankees. With a 4.91 ERA and 5.8 K/9 in 51.1 innings this season, Bergman won't warrant much consideration in most fantasy leagues, especially since he won't be guaranteed any starts in his latest stint with the big club.

  • Paul Blackburn RP | NYY

Athletics' Paul Blackburn: DL stay to be extended

Blackburn (wrist) will miss longer than the minimum 10 days with his injury, Alex Simon of MLB.com reports. "Right now, he hasn't gotten to the point where he's able to play catch or really even grip a baseball," Athletics manager Bob Melvin said. "It may take a little longer than we originally anticipated."

The rookie has been dealing with swelling in his injured right hand, as well as limited range of motion. While he's eligible to return Sept. 2, Blackburn's lack of progress has rendered that date irrelevant. With more testing on tap in the coming days, Blackburn may not be able to return until close to mid-September, which would potentially afford him two or three more starts before the end of the season.

  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Tigers' Matt Boyd: Allows five runs in loss to White Sox

Boyd (5-8) allowed five runs on seven hits and one walk across six innings while taking the loss Sunday against the White Sox. He struck out seven.

Boyd was actually quite effective aside from a third-inning collapse in which he allowed five runs on five hits, including a three-run home run by Matt Davidson. He threw a hefty 74 percent of pitches for strikes, including first-pitch strikes to 23 of 26 batters, but he was made to pay for numerous location errors. Boyd has endured a miserable run of form lately, allowing a whopping 25 earned runs over 23.2 innings over his last six outings. He will take a disappointing 6.32 ERA into Friday's start against the Indians.

  • Charlie Morton SP | ATL

Astros' Charlie Morton: Fails to capitalize on run support

Morton was tagged for three runs on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts over five innings in Sunday's no-decision against the Angels.

Even though he only issued one walk, command was a problem for Morton. It took the veteran right-hander 88 pitches to get through five innings, and he plunked two hitters along the way. While his team ultimately came out on top, Morton will be disappointed with himself for not snagging personal win number 11 after being staked to a 4-0 lead through four innings. That elusive victory could well come in his next start, which is scheduled for Saturday against the Mets.

  • Ricky Nolasco SP | ARI

Angels' Ricky Nolasco: Mediocre outing Sunday

Nolasco surrendered four runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts over six innings in Sunday's no-decision against the Astros.

This result exceeded expectations considering Nolasco came in with a 5.05 ERA and had failed to pitch six full innings in any of his previous four starts. Houston's top-ranked offense got to him early, scoring two runs on a first-inning Jose Altuve homer and tacking on two more in the fourth. Los Angeles' offense took Nolasco off the hook with five runs over the next two innings combined, but his team ultimately lost the game 7-5. His next start is scheduled for Saturday in Texas.

  • White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Tosses seven scoreless in win over Tigers

Giolito (1-1) tossed seven scoreless innings in Sunday's win over the Tigers, allowing three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

Giolito was outstanding in this one, throwing 69 percent of his pitches for strikes and allowing just three men past first base. He loaded the bases in the seventh inning but was able to battle through the jam to cap off a successful day. Giolito struggled with the long ball in his season debut Tuesday, but he was much more effective this time out as he delivered a quality start. He will look to build off of this excellent outing Saturday against the Rays.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Orioles' Wade Miley: Earns another win Sunday

Miley (8-10) gave up one run on seven hits and three walks over five innings in Sunday's victory over the Red Sox.

Although the Red Sox were able to get plenty of baserunners with Miley on the mound, they were only able to get one across the plate as Miley picked up his second straight win. Miley's pitch count ran high (101), and there wasn't much control, as just 59 of his pitches were strikes. However, Miley was still able to keep the opposition from scoring as Sunday marked the fifth time that he's allowed two runs or fewer over his last six outings. He'll look to carry his momentum into his next scheduled start, which figures to come Saturday against the Blue Jays.

  • Kyle Gibson SP | BAL

Twins' Kyle Gibson: Picks up eighth win Sunday against Blue Jays

Gibson (8-10) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk over 6.2 innings to earn the win Sunday against the Blue Jays. He struck out seven.

Gibson allowed a run on consecutive hits in the second inning but was able to settle down and navigate through the next 4.2 frames while only allowing one additional run to come across. Despite owning a rather unappealing 5.61 ERA, he's notched two straight quality starts and could become more worthy of fantasy utility if this continues. He'll square off against the Royals on Friday.

  • Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Dialed in against Royals

Carrasco (13-6) threw seven shutout innings and struck out eight batters in Sunday's victory over the Royals.

Carrasco's control was on full display, as he didn't walk a single batter and gave up just six hits over the course of the contest. It was a much-needed recovery for Carrasco, who'd given up six runs over 6.2 innings in his previous outing, which came against the Red Sox. Carrasco's next start figures to come in Saturday's doubleheader versus the Tigers. The righty has had a string of successful starts when facing the Detroit club this season, going 3-1 with a 2.36 ERA in four matchups against them.
