Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Athletics' Sonny Gray: Hit hard in loss to Indians
Gray (2-2) allowed seven runs on nine hits and two walks across 4.2 innings during Tuesday's loss to the Indians.
Gray allowed just one baserunner through three innings, but he allowed four runs on four hits and a walk in the fourth before his removal after the hosts plated three more with two outs in the fifth. Although it was a difficult matchup, the implosion came as a bit of a surprise, as Gray had strung together three consecutive quality starts over the last three outings while posting a 22:5 K:BB during that span. With his ERA now inflated to 4.72, Gray will face another tough task against the Nationals in his next start Sunday.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Still throwing in Arizona
Rodon (biceps) will pitch four or five innings in Arizona on Friday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
He is still in extended spring training, but it sounds like a rehab assignment could be right around the corner as he ramps up his activity. There is no concrete timetable for his return to the big-league rotation.

JC Ramirez SP | LAA
Angels' JC Ramirez: Start pushed to Friday
Ramirez's next start has been bumped to Friday against the Twins, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Alex Meyer (back) will come off the DL to start Thursday's game, which pushes Ramirez back a day. He still gets to face the Twins, matching up against Kyle Gibson instead of Thursday's starter Adalberto Mejia.

Alex Meyer SP | LAA
Angels' Alex Meyer: To start Thursday against Twins
Meyer (back) will come off the 10-day DL and rejoin the rotation Thursday against the Twins, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.
He was originally expected back Sunday, but is apparently feeling good enough to return ahead of schedule. The Angels' rotation has been decimated by injuries all year long, so they turn back to Meyer, even though his 5.79 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 16.8 percent walk rate in five big-league starts this season are discouraging figures. This will push the rest of the rotation back one day and presumably bump Parker Bridwell from the mix.

Parker Bridwell SP | LAA
Angels' Parker Bridwell: Officially heading to big leagues
Bridwell was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.
This is more of a procedural move than anything else, as Bridwell was already tabbed to start Tuesday's contest. He'll face off with Atlanta's Bartolo Colon in Anaheim, looking to carry his stellar 0.92 ERA from the minors into the big leagues with him. To make room for him on the active roster, Nolan Fontana was optioned to Triple-A.

Alec Asher SP | MIL
Orioles' Alec Asher: Remains in starting rotation
Asher will start Friday against the Red Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
The 25-year-old Asher was knocked around for six runs in just two innings against Houston on Sunday, but Baltimore will not reverse course and return Ubaldo Jimenez to the rotation -- not yet anyway. Jimenez went six innings in relief of Asher and allowed just two runs on five hits with five strikeouts and zero walks. Another poor showing from Asher could result in the two players flip-flopping roles once again.

Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Astros' Joe Musgrove: Ticketed for DL stint
Musgrove was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday due to shoulder discomfort, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
It's unclear when this injury cropped up, especially considering he tossed seven scoreless innings in his most recent outing Saturday. No word has emerged on how long he's expected to be out, either, but David Paulino will take his spot in the rotation until Musgrove is back and ready for action again.

Chris Bassitt SP | BAL
Athletics' Chris Bassitt: Hits setback rehabbing elbow
Bassitt (elbow) has incurred a setback while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and was shut down from throwing, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Bassitt had been participating in a rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville. Over three games with Nashville he'd thrown 13.2 innings and allowed 11 runs. The A's have yet to elaborate on the severity of Bassitt's setback. However, an early-June return is now unlikely for the 28-year-old righty.

Jason Hammel SP | TEX
Royals' Jason Hammel: Named Saturday's starter
Hammel is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Indians, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.
Hammel will take the mound one day earlier than expected, as he's set to start Saturday's outing instead of Sunday's. Hammel last pitched Monday, so he'll still have regular rest before returning to the hill. Hammel has struggled through his first 10 starts this season and is 1-6 with a 6.18 ERA and 1.71 WHIP.

Drew Smyly SP | CHC
Mariners' Drew Smyly: Eyeing late-June return
Smyly (elbow) could be ready to come off the 60-day disabled list in late June, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
That return timeline is a fairly loose estimate, as Smyly remains limited to playing catch and has yet to throw off a mound. Since the lefty has been out all season with the strained elbow flexor, he'll require multiple rehab starts once he's advanced past tossing bullpen sessions and facing hitters in batting practice. Until Smyly progresses further in the rehab process, there are likely better injury-stash options on the waiver wire in most leagues for fantasy owners looking to fill out bench spots.
