Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Athletics' Sonny Gray: Throwing long toss
Gray (forearm) threw from 105 feet Saturday, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports.
Until he actually gets back on a mound, there's no way of realistically knowing when or if he will be able to return this season. Considering his struggles prior to the injury (5.74 ERA, 1.50 WHIP), there is very little reason to stash Gray in single-season leagues, especially knowing that he may not be able to pitch again this season.

Alex Meyer SP | LAA
Angels' Alex Meyer: Recalled by Angels
Meyer was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
Acquired from Minnesota earlier in the second half, Meyer ended up making five starts between rookie ball, High-A Inland Empire and Salt Lake after turning the page on the shoulder issue. The door is open for Meyer to start some games over the final month, but consider him likely to be available out of the bullpen until the team formally removes Brett Oberholtzer from the rotation.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Set to start Saturday vs. Jays
Snell (bruised leg) is slated to start Saturday against the Blue Jays.
There had been some concern as to whether Snell would be able to make this start, and even some confusion regarding which day he would take the ball this weekend. However, the Rays are listing him as Saturday's home starter against Marco Estrada and the Blue Jays, so make sure he is deployed as usual.

Dylan Bundy SP | NYM
Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Scoreless outing in win Friday
Bundy tossed 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out five against the Yankees on Friday. He earned his eighth win of the season.
Bundy was run out of Yankee Stadium in his last start, but he held the Yankees at bay Friday. It looks like Bundy may be having some location issues. He had 33 strikeouts and five walks in his first five starts, but he has 20 strikeouts and 15 walks in his last five outings.

Kyle Gibson SP | BAL
Twins' Kyle Gibson: Takes loss, yields five runs versus White Sox on Friday
Gibson (5-9) allowed five runs on nine hits, struck out six and walked one in a loss to the White Sox on Friday.
He actually took a two-run lead into the fourth, but from there, the game completely swung in Chicago's favor. Gibson tossed up a two-run homer to Todd Frazier and then allowed another run in the fifth. Chicago went on to win 11-4. The 28-year-old has posted just one quality start since the beginning of August. He is 5-9 with a 5.31 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 82 strikeouts in 117 innings this season. His next start will be Wednesday versus Kansas City.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Allows four runs in victory over Twins on Friday
Rodon (6-8) allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits, struck out five and walked on over seven innings in a victory over the Twins on Friday.
This was the first time since July 31 that Rodon allowed more than two runs in a start. Even still, the left-hander is 4-0 with a 1.91 ERA over his last six outings. This recent success has improved his season totals to a 6-8 record, 3.90 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 128 strikeouts in 136.0 innings. He will look to keep it going against the Royals next Friday.

Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Blanks Marlins for 7.1 innings
Carrasco (10-7) shut down the Marlins Friday, allowing zero runs on six hits and walk while fanning 11.
Carrasco returned to form by posting his third double-digit strikeout performance of the year after getting knocked out after the fourth inning in his last outing against Texas -- a sour ending to his 2-5 month of August. With Detroit within striking distance for the AL Central crown, Carrasco will need to pitch to form more consistently to help the Indians hold the Tigers off.

Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Posts quality start but picks up loss Friday
Stroman (9-6) allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three in a losing effort Friday against Tampa Bay.
Stroman pitched well enough to win, recording his fifth quality start in his last six outings, but Toronto's lineup ultimately was held in check by Rays' starter Alex Cobb. While the 25-year old righty continued his solid second half to the season, it should be noted that his three strikeouts in six innings were a sharp regression from the 11.08 K/9 he recorded in August.
-
Alex Cobb SP | DET
Rays' Alex Cobb: Solid in return from Tommy John
Cobb (0-0) held the Blue Jays to two runs on four hits while striking out seven over five innings of work Friday in his return from Tommy John surgery.
Cobb's first big league start in almost two years was encouraging, as he settled down after a rough first two innings to retire the final 10 batters he faced. While he has had battled frequent injuries since breaking into the majors in 2011, he has consistently proven to be an effective starter for the Rays when healthy.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Scheduled to start Tuesday
Paxton (finger) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Paxton had a fake fingernail put on his hand to help repair a torn nail. Saturday's bullpen session will be done to test his ability to throw following the application of his new nail. As long as the session goes well, he's expected to start Tuesday against the Rangers.
