Pablo Lopez SP | MIN
Twins' Pablo Lopez: Yields four runs in loss
Lopez (10-8) allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Cubs.
Isaac Paredes did all the damage against Lopez, tagging him for a three-run home run in the first inning and an RBI single in the third. This was the first time in five starts Lopez allowed more than two runs, and the two strikeouts matched his season low. The right-hander's ERA is at 4.74 with a 1.16 WHIP and 144:29 K:BB over 129 innings across 23 starts this season. Lopez is projected to make his next start at home versus the Royals.

Chris Bassitt SP | BAL
Blue Jays' Chris Bassitt: Strikes out nine in win
Bassitt (9-10) earned the win against the Orioles on Tuesday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks with nine strikeouts over seven innings.
Bassitt faced the minimum through five innings and recorded a season-high nine strikeouts while completing seven innings for the first time since June 24. The 35-year-old had a miserable July, failing to record a quality start and posting a 7.01 ERA in five outings, but he opened August with a fantastic performance against one of the league's best lineups. On the year, he owns a 3.95 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 124:50 K:BB across 130 innings and lines up for a home matchup with the Athletics this weekend.

Grayson Rodriguez SP | LAA
Orioles' Grayson Rodriguez: Dealing with lat injury
Rodriguez is dealing with a right lat/teres discomfort, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Rodriguez was scratched from his start Tuesday against Toronto at the last minute, which is now understood to be the result of some discomfort in his upper and mid back. The right-hander dealt with a similar injury in 2022 with Triple-A Norfolk, which forced him to miss time according to Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com.

Ben Lively SP | CLE
Guardians' Ben Lively: Cleveland-Arizona postponed Tuesday
Lively and the Guardians won't face Arizona on Tuesday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Cleveland.
The two teams will play a doubleheader Wednesday to make up for the postponement, and Lively will take the hill for the first game of the twin bill. In three starts since the All-Star break, the 32-year-old righty owns a 2.60 ERA and 1.04 WHIP alongside a 12:5 K:BB through 17.1 innings.

Jake Bloss SP | TOR
Blue Jays' Jake Bloss: Arrives in Buffalo
Bloss has joined Triple-A Buffalo and is slated to start for the affiliate Saturday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Bloss was acquired from the Astros at the trade deadline as a part of the return package for left-hander Yusei Kikuchi and will now make his first start with his new organization at the Triple-A level. Before the trade, the 23-year-old made three starts with Houston, giving up nine runs over 11.2 innings while striking out 11 batters. General manager Ross Atkins said following the deadline last week that Bloss will get some run at Triple-A before joining the major-league rotation later this season.

Casey Mize SP | DET
Tigers' Casey Mize: Set for rehab assignment
Mize (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Mize has been on the injured list since July 3 while recovering from a strained hamstring, but he's now on the cusp of a return. The right-hander is eligible to be activated from the 60-day IL on Aug. 30, and while he should be on track to return on that date or shortly thereafter, he'll make multiple starts with Toledo prior to being reinstated.

Grayson Rodriguez SP | LAA
Orioles' Grayson Rodriguez: Scratched from start
Rodriguez (undisclosed) was scratched from his start against the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.
Rodriguez was slated to make his third start following the All-Star break, but he's now been forced to take a seat. The 24-year-old spent a couple weeks on the injured list in May with right shoulder inflammation and it's unclear if Tuesday's absence is related to that or not. More information on his status moving forward will likely be provided in the near future, but in the meantime, Albert Suarez will draw Tuesday's start versus Toronto.

Chase Silseth RP | LAA
Angels' Chase Silseth: Out for rest of season
Silseth underwent season-ending surgery on his right elbow Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
The specifics of Silseth's operation are unknown, but he didn't receive Tommy John surgery and is expected to be fully recovered by the time spring training begins. The 24-year-old righty allowed six earned runs in eight innings over two big-league starts this year, and he'll finish with a 6.35 ERA through 28.1 frames in Triple-A.

Albert Suarez RP | BAL
Orioles' Albert Suarez: Starting Tuesday in Toronto
Suarez will start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
The right-hander was shifted to the bullpen last week after Baltimore acquired Trevor Rogers ahead of the trade deadline, but Grayson Rodriguez (undisclosed) was a late scratch from his start Tuesday. Suarez allowed three runs over 1.2 innings Thursday at Cleveland, so he'll be taking the mound Tuesday on a normal starter's schedule.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Astros' Justin Verlander: Nearing rehab assignment
Verlander (neck) will likely begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land over the weekend, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Verlander will first need to get through a bullpen session Wednesday, but he'll be cleared to head to the minors if everything goes smoothly. The veteran righty built up to 37 pitches during his simulated game Sunday and will likely require multiple Triple-A outings before returning to Houston's rotation.
