  • JR Ritchie SP | ATL

Braves' JR Ritchie: Walks four in no-decision

Ritchie allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks while striking out four over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus Detroit on Wednesday.

Ritchie's own throwing error on a pickoff attempt led to the unearned run on his line in the second inning. He also gave up a solo home run to Riley Greene. All in all, Ritchie has done well over his first two major-league starts, surrendering five runs (four earned) across 12.1 innings with an 11:6 K:BB, though he has given up three homers. Spencer Strider (oblique) is set for his season debut Sunday in Colorado, which could make Ritchie a candidate to head back to Triple-A Gwinnett. Atlanta has already designated Martin Perez for assignment once this season, however, and the veteran lefty could get bumped from the rotation instead. If Ritchie gets another start, it would likely come during next week's road series in Seattle.

  • David Peterson SP | NYM

Mets' David Peterson: Losing ways continue

Peterson (0-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Nationals, allowing seven runs on five hits and three walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out five.

Peterson entered in long relief in his prior two outings, but he didn't fare well in his return to the rotation. The left-hander coughed up a season-worst seven runs Wednesday, walking multiple batters for the fifth time in as many starts on the year. Peterson has a ghastly 6.53 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 29:14 K:BB over 30.1 innings, so he'll be tough to trust in fantasy lineups during his next scheduled outing in Colorado.

  • Cade Cavalli SP | WAS

Nationals' Cade Cavalli: Fans 10 in first win

Cavalli (1-1) tallied the win Wednesday against the Mets, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out 10.

Although Cavalli gave up a season-high eight hits and served up his first home run of the year, he still put forth perhaps his most impressive showing of 2026 thus far. The right-hander matched a season high in innings and punchouts, generating 18 whiffs in his second quality start of the year. Cavalli has struggled to work deep into starts consistently, logging only 30.2 innings covering seven outings while posting a shaky 1.66 WHIP, but he does have a 3.82 ERA and a strong 38:14 K:BB ahead of his next matchup versus the Twins.

  • Ben Brown SP | CHC

Cubs' Ben Brown: Continues to pitch well

Brown tossed 1.2 scoreless innings of relief with a strikeout to earn a hold in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Padres.

The Cubs are dealing with injuries to Daniel Palencia (lat), Riley Martin (elbow), Caleb Thielbar (hamstring) and Hunter Harvey (triceps), but Brown has helped stabilize the team's bullpen. The lanky righty has a stellar 1.99 ERA and 22 strikeouts across 22.2 innings so far. As he demonstrated Wednesday, Brown can also give Chicago multiple innings in relief, which has been a valuable asset in his 10 appearances this season.

  • Reds' Brandon Williamson: Exits with shoulder fatigue

Williamson was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rockies with left shoulder fatigue, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

Williamson made it through just three innings before coming out of Wednesday's game, giving up four earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four batters. It's currently unknown whether the shoulder issue will cause the Reds to postpone his next start or move him to the IL, but he's slated to receive an MRI on Thursday that will help determine his short-term availability.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Issues six walks Wednesday

Glasnow did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Marlins, allowing two runs on three hits and six walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out nine.

While it was the first time Glasnow failed to make it through six innings this season, the right-hander managed to limit the damage by matching a season high in strikeouts despite issuing a season high six walks -- he hadn't issued more than two free passes in any of his prior five starts. Glasnow's ERA sits at 2.56 with a stellar 0.83 WHIP and 47:13 K:BB across 38.2 innings this year. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Astros on the road in his next outing.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Sharp against Dodgers

Alcantara did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Dodgers, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out four.

While he didn't come away with the win, Alcantara did deliver a second straight quality start en route to an eventual 3-2 Miami victory. Alcantara has delivered quality starts in five of his seven outings this season. His ERA sits at 3.04 with a 1.16 WHIP and 31:15 K:BB across 47.1 innings. Alcantara is currently lined up to face the Orioles at home his next time out.

  • Logan Webb SP | SF

    Giants' Logan Webb: Phillies-Giants postponed

Webb and the Giants will not play against the Phillies on Wednesday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Wednesday's game will move to Thursday as part of a split doubleheader, but it's not yet known which game Webb will take the mound for. After surrendering six earned runs Opening Day, the 29-year-old right-hander has posted four quality starts over his last five outings, and over that span he has a 3.94 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 25:12 K:BB across 32 innings.

  • Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez: Giants-Phillies postponed

Sanchez and the Phillies won't play the Giants on Wednesday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The two teams will make up the postponed game Thursday as part of a doubleheader, and Sanchez will take the mound in the first of the two contests. He has logged three quality starts through six outings this season and sits at a 2-2 record with a 2.94 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 43:10 K:BB across 33.2 innings.

  • Diamondbacks' Andrew Hoffmann: Sent down to Triple-A

The Diamondbacks optioned Hoffmann to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.

Hoffmann will go back down to the minors following his rough performance against the Brewers on Tuesday, when he recorded just one out while allowing eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits and a walk. Prior to that disastrous outing, Hoffman posted a 2.38 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 12:7 K:BB across 11.1 major-league innings this year. Philip Abner was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
