Sproat (3-4) earned the win Tuesday against the Reds, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over 5.1 innings.

After serving up a solo homer to Sal Stewart in the first inning, Sproat settled in and held Cincinnati scoreless over the next four frames, including a stretch in which he struck out five of six batters faced. He allowed back-to-back doubles to open the sixth, plating another run before he exited. Sproat has been piling up strikeouts lately, recording 23 over his last 15 innings while issuing just four walks. He has also earned wins in back-to-back starts, both coming against Cincinnati. Sproat now owns a 5.28 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 80:34 K:BB across 75 innings. He is scheduled to face Arizona on the road Sunday in his second start of the week.

Perez (4-6) earned the win over Colorado on Tuesday, allowing one run on two hits and four walks while striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings.

It was the second start back for Perez after he missed nearly a month due to a thigh injury. He was held to 68 pitches in his return outing last Wednesday but was given a longer leash Tuesday, as he finished his start at 86 pitches. The right-hander struggled with his control a bit by issuing four walks, but he was otherwise nearly untouchable, with the only run against him coming on a first-inning solo homer by Mickey Moniak. Perez also had his swing-and-miss stuff working, racking up 19 whiffs and eight punchouts. He should be able to push his pitch count even further in upcoming outings, and his next start is tentatively scheduled to be a road matchup against the Athletics at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento.

Perez (6-5) took the loss Tuesday against the Cardinals, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out one over five innings.

Perez was undone by two swings in the fourth inning. Nelson Velazquez led off the frame with a solo homer before Nathan Church added a three-run blast. The four earned runs matched Perez's season high, and it was an uncharacteristic showing after he had surrendered just three home runs over his previous 36 innings. Following a four-start winning streak, Perez has now dropped each of his last two outings. He'll carry a 3.27 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 61:30 K:BB across 77 innings into his next scheduled start at home against the Mets.

Sears (1-1) took the loss against the Cubs on Tuesday, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out four batters over 4.2 innings.

Sears pitched well enough in his season debut against Atlanta last Wednesday to get another turn in the rotation, but his second start was mostly a disaster. The left-hander surrendered three homers among the eight hits he allowed and couldn't finish five frames despite throwing 95 pitches. Only 52 of those offerings were strikes, and Sears walked three batters while throwing just 12 of 25 first pitches over the plate. The Padres should be getting back German Marquez (forearm) soon, as the veteran hurler has pitched well through five games of his minor-league rehab assignment. When Marquez returns, Sears and Griffin Canning are the primary candidates to be removed from the rotation.

Liberatore (4-5) earned the win Tuesday against Atlanta, allowing one run on one hit and four walks while striking out nine over five innings.

Liberatore bounced back in a big way, throwing 60 of his 98 pitches for strikes while generating 15 whiffs on 41 swings. His lone run allowed came via an Ozzie Albies sacrifice fly in the third inning. At one point the left-hander struck out six in a stretch of 10 batters faced. Entering Tuesday, Liberatore had struggled heavily in June, posting a 10.34 ERA and 1.91 WHIP across four starts (15.2 innings). He now owns a 5.33 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 79:33 K:BB across 82.2 innings and is scheduled to face the Cubs on the road in his next start.

Boyd (3-1) earned the win over San Diego on Tuesday, allowing three runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out two batters over five-plus innings.

Boyd made just his second appearance since returning from a lengthy absence due to injuries to his knee and shoulder, and he was limited to 76 pitches for a second straight start. That was enough to get him through five-plus innings, however, and consequently allowed him to get his third victory of the campaign. The left-hander was knocked for two long balls and departed having allowed two runners to reach base without recording an out in the sixth, but Javier Assad was able to get out of the jam without letting either inherited runner score. Boyd has been fairly effective so far since coming off the IL, yielding three runs across 9.2 frames with a 6:4 K:BB across his two starts. He's lined up to next face the Orioles in Baltimore.

Wrobleski (10-2) allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out 11 without walking a batter over seven innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Tuesday.

Wrobleski's 11 strikeouts were a career high. He was excellent in June, allowing nine runs over 30.2 innings with a 24:4 K:BB. He's won his last three starts and hasn't taken a loss since May 22 in Milwaukee. The southpaw is now at a 2.80 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 64:18 K:BB through 93.1 innings over 15 appearances (14 starts) this season. Wrobleski is projected to make his next start at home versus the Rockies.

Roupp (5-8) allowed six runs on five hits and six walks while striking out four over 2.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks.

Roupp lacked control -- the six walks represented a season high. This was his shortest outing of the season and guaranteed that he ended a second straight month winless. He has gone 0-7 across his last 11 starts, allowing four or more runs in six of them. Roupp has a 4.55 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 99:40 K:BB through 89 innings over 17 starts this season. He's projected for a home start versus the Blue Jays in his next outing.

Cavalli (5-4) earned the win against the Red Sox on Tuesday, allowing one unearned run on one hit and no walks with 13 strikeouts over seven innings.

Cavalli was dominant after allowing an unearned run in the first inning, striking out a career-high 13 batters while retiring the final 19 he faced. He generated a whopping 25 swinging strikes on 100 pitches, including 15 with his four-seam fastball. While it marked the first time this season he did not allow an earned run, the 27-year-old has now held opponents to three earned runs or fewer in 16 of 18 outings. He'll take a 3.69 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 102:29 K:BB across 90.1 innings into a home matchup with the Astros next week.

McLean (5-5) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Tuesday, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out seven over six scoreless innings.

McLean cruised through six frames, generating 11 swinging strikes on 91 pitches and limiting Toronto to only three hard-hit balls. It marked the second time this season the 24-year-old did not allow an earned run, an encouraging rebound after he yielded six earned runs in his previous outing Wednesday. He'll carry a 3.78 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 113:36 K:BB across 95.1 innings into a road matchup with Atlanta next week.
