Nola won't pitch again during the regular season and is expected to start Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Round next Wednesday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Philadelphia's playoff seed is stable for the No. 1 wild-card spot, so it's not a surprise Nola's turn through the rotation will be skipped this weekend. The right-hander ended up making his final start of the regular season Tuesday versus Pittsburgh, and he allowed just one run and struck out eight in 6.2 frames. Nola closes out the campaign with a 4.46 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 202:45 K:BB across 193.2 innings.

Small was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old will take the roster spot of J.B. Bukauskas, who landed on the injured list with a finger injury. Small allowed five earned runs over three frames in his lone big-league appearance of the season back in late May.

The Rockies placed Feltner on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right elbow inflammation.

Feltner started the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers and probably wasn't going to make another appearance either way. The 27-year-old right-hander finishes the 2023 campaign with a 5.82 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 38:28 K:BB in 10 major-league starts covering 43.1 innings.

Cueto will start for the Marlins in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Cueto's last two appearances have come in relief, and he's managed just a 6.64 ERA in nine starts this season. The Marlins' hands are tied, though, between injuries and Tuesday's rainout, so they'll give Cueto another shot. Miami has not yet announced any of their starters for their weekend series in Pittsburgh, but it should be all hands on deck.

Lucchesi will start the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Marlins.

Lucchesi had been slated to start Tuesday before that contest was rained out, so he'll get the ball for the makeup game instead. Kodai Senga will make his regularly scheduled start in Wednesday's nightcap.

Davies was designated for assignment Wednesday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

The move comes one day after Davies yielded four runs over just three innings in Arizona's win over the White Sox. He didn't go more than four frames in any of his last four outings and heads to the waiver wire having posted a 7.00 ERA over 18 starts this season. Ryne Nelson pitched well in relief of Davies on Tuesday and could now take his spot in the rotation Sunday. Davies has a $5.5 million mutual option or $300,000 buyout for 2024, so the Diamondbacks will pay that latter figure.

Davis is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Dodgers at Coors Field.

Davis will be making a second straight turn through Colorado's rotation in what likely represents his final appearance of the season, barring him being needed in relief for Sunday's finale against the Twins on three days' rest. The right-hander struck out four over five innings this past Friday against the Cubs, but he was handed the loss after serving up three earned runs on four hits and three walks. He's not a recommended streaming option Wednesday while pitching at a hitter-friendly park against one of the majors' top offenses.

Sheehan is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Sheehan will make his second straight turn through the Los Angeles rotation after a brief stint in the bullpen. He turned in a gem his last time out this past Thursday against the Giants, striking out a career-high nine while allowing one earned run on no hits and four walks over 4.2 innings. Though he's pitched well of late, Sheehan hasn't hit five innings in any of his starts or relief appearances in the majors or minors since late July, so the Dodgers may not keep him in Wednesday's game long enough to qualify for a win.

Greene escaped with a no-decision Tuesday in the Reds' 11-7 win over the Guardians, surrendering seven runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over three-plus innings. He struck out three.

After a scoreless first frame, the wheels came off for Greene as he served up a three-run blast to Bo Naylor in the second inning before Kole Calhoun and Andres Gimenez took him deep in the third. After the right-hander put the first two batters he faced in the fourth inning aboard, he left the mound having tossed 70 pitches (47 strikes), but Cincinnati got Greene off the hook for his seventh loss of the season by taking the lead in the top of the fifth. The awful outing snapped a string of three impressive starts for the 24-year-old, who now has a 4.57 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB through 21.2 innings in September. If he stays on turn, Greene lines up to start the Reds' final game of the regular season Oct. 1 in St. Louis, with a potential wild-card spot on the line -- the team heads into play Wednesday 1.5 games back of the Cubs for the final playoff berth in the NL.

Feltner (2-4) took the loss in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers, coughing up five runs on six hits and a walk over three innings as the Rockies were routed 11-2. He failed to strike out a batter.

Remarkably, none of the hits off Feltner went for extra bases, but four straight singles to lead off the second inning led to a five-run frame. The right-hander has proven to be a particularly poor fit for Coors Field, posting an 8.40 ERA and 2.07 WHIP in the Rockies' home stadium during his first season with the club compared to a 4.45 ERA and 1.48 WHIP on the road, but with two years of team control left before he even reaches arbitration, Colorado may keep Feltner around in 2024 to provide depth for the staff.
