Wheeler did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out 10 batters in the Phillies' 7-5 loss to the Brewers.

Wheeler tossed three scoreless frames to open his outing before Willy Adames took him deep for a three-run shot in the bottom of the fourth, accounting for all the damage against him. The right-hander has now reached 10 punchouts in back-to-back starts and he has allowed three or fewer runs in nine of his last 10 outings. Overall on the season, Wheeler owns a 3.62 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 185 strikeouts over 164 innings in 27 starts.

Peralta did not factor into the decision Friday, surrendering one run on two hits while striking out 10 batters over six innings in the Brewers' 7-5 win over the Phillies.

Outside of a leadoff homer by Kyle Schwarber in the top of the first inning, Peralta was brilliant. The right-hander recorded at least 10 punchouts for the fourth time over his last seven outings, posting a 1.71 ERA with 69 strikeouts in 42 innings in those starts. Peralta's season-long numbers now sit at a 3.85 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 187 strikeouts over 145 frames in 26 outings.

Gomber (back) won't pitch as scheduled Sunday against the Blue Jays, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Gomber will have his upcoming turn in the rotation skipped after he recently received an injection to address the back soreness he dealt with during his most recent start Monday against Atlanta. Fortunately for Gomber, the Rockies believe he'll avoid a trip to the 15-day injured list and could be ready to go the next time his turn in the rotation comes up. He'll tentatively line up for a return to the bump during next weekend's series in San Francisco.

Rea will be recalled from Triple-A Nashville to start Saturday's game against the Phillies, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The Brewers optioned Rea to Nashville on Aug. 5, where he has since given up five runs over 11 innings across two starts while striking out 12 batters and walking one. Rea has a 7.30 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across 24.2 innings in his last five major-league starts prior to being demoted and will be facing a Phillies offense that ranks sixth in baseball with a .768 OPS on the season.

The Dodgers recalled Sheehan from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.

Sheehan holds a 5.63 ERA and 1.28 WHIP through 38.1 innings with the Dodgers this season, and he will come up from the minors to presumably round out Los Angeles' rotation. Despite his inflated stats, Sheehan looked sharp in his last two MLB appearances, surrendering just two runs in nine innings while striking out eight batters and walking two.

Ashcraft was dealing with a sore toe during his start Friday against the Cubs, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Ashcraft gave up three runs during the first game of Friday's doubleheader and left after five innings to get an MRI. He should be considered day-to-day until the results of that testing is made available.

Richardson was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

With Ben Lively -- who was originally scheduled to start the second game of Friday's doubleheader -- landing on the COVID-19 IL, Richardson will come up from Louisville to pitch in his place. The 23-year-old righty has surrendered seven runs in 7.1 innings through two starts in the majors this season.

The Reds placed Lively on the COVID-19 injured list Friday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Lively was originally scheduled to start the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cubs, but he'll now be forced to miss at least one week. Lyon Richardson will come up from Triple-A Louisville and replace Lively as Friday's starter.

The Cardinals reinstated Woodford (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Friday and optioned him to Triple-A Memphis, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

A right shoulder strain forced Woodford onto the IL in late June, and he'll now remain in the minors upon completing his rehab assignment. The 26-year-old righty accumulated a 5.67 ERA and 1.69 WHIP through 39.2 frames with St. Louis, but he could potentially return to the majors as a depth piece if he keeps performing well in Triple-A (2.08 ERA, 1.15 WHIP).

Butto was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Butto is part of a wave of promotions for the Mets as rosters expand. He'll join the team's bullpen and could be an option for spot starts in the final month.
