Buehler (elbow) "will take the next step in his recovery by facing hitters in Arizona this week," Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

It was reported last week that Buehler was close to beginning a rehab assignment, and while it's unclear if he will officially start one in the coming days, he appears ready to take another step in his recovery. Expect the Dodgers to release another update on his status following his upcoming session.

The Reds recalled Kennedy from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.

Kennedy will head to the bullpen for the time being and will give the Reds a much-needed fresh arm, though depending on how extensively he's used in the next few days, he could be an option to join the rotation when Cincinnati requires a fifth starter again. The Reds optioned Lyon Richardson to Triple-A in a corresponding move after Richardson was lit up for four runs in three innings ins his big-league debut in Sunday's loss to the Nationals. Kennedy's lone previous appearance with the Reds came back on July 4 -- also against the Nationals -- when he gave up four earned runs on five hits and two walks over five innings.

Richardson was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Monday.

Richardson was called up from Louisville to make his big-league debut Sunday, but he was dealt the loss after giving up four earned runs on four hits and three walks over three innings. The performance wasn't enough for him to stake a claim to a permanent spot in the Cincinnati rotation, but he could, however, return to the majors before the season comes to a close. Cincinnati called up right-hander Brett Kennedy from Louisville in a corresponding move.

Suarez will not start Monday against the Nationals as scheduled, as the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Suarez was set to start Monday on five days of rest, but he will not do so due to rain. The Phillies and Nationals will play a doubleheader Tuesday, and Suarez figures to start one of the two games.

Stroman landed on the injured list last week, and he will not have to wait long to get back on the bump. Manager David Ross is hoping that Stroman will be ready to return from the injured list when first eligible Aug. 16, and a successful session Tuesday would go a long way toward reaching that goal.

The Marlins recalled Perez from Double-A Pensacola ahead of his scheduled start Monday in Cincinnati, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Perez is back in the big leagues and will make his first appearance since July 6 after the Marlins elected to stash him in the minors for the past month in an effort to limit his workload in his age-20 campaign. Per McPherson, Perez's start Monday is expected to be one of 10 the Marlins are tentatively planning on having him make over the rest of the season, provided Miami still remains in the thick of playoff contention by late September/early October. After turning a dazzling 2.36 ERA while striking out 61 batters over 53.1 innings over his first 11 big-league starts, Perez looks worthy of an immediate activation this week for any fantasy managers that had been holding him.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed Monday that Kershaw (shoulder) is "very likely" to return from the 15-day injured list to start Thursday against the Rockies, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Kershaw had already been trending toward a Thursday return, and Roberts has all but locked it in at this point. The southpaw threw a bullpen session Sunday without issue, and as long as he recovers without incident, he'll be cleared to make his first major-league start since July 3. The future Hall of Famer has been dealing with inflammation in his left shoulder.

Barco (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list and assigned to Single-A Bradenton on Aug. 3.

He walked two and struck out two while recording just two outs in his first start for the Marauders on Sunday. Barco built up to four innings in his final rehab start in the Florida Complex League, so it's a bit surprising he recorded only two outs in his first Single-A start. He underwent Tommy John surgery prior to getting selected by the Pirates with the 44th overall pick in last year's draft.

The Marlins are planning for Perez -- who will be called up from Double-A Pensacola to start Monday's game in Cincinnati -- to make up to 10 more starts in the majors over the rest of the season, Jordan McPherson of The Miami Herald reports.

The team is monitoring the 20-year-old's workload carefully, as he's already thrown more innings this season than he did in either 2022 or 2021, but Perez is set to rejoin Miami's rotation Monday after spending about a month in the minors resting and then ramping back up. Whether he actually makes all 10 starts will depend on his performance as well as whether the Marlins stay in the wild-card hunt, but those investing in the young phenom can have some confidence that he'll see enough action to move the needle for their fantasy squads. Through his first 11 big-league outings, Perez has posted a 2.36 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 61:17 K:BB in 53.1 innings.
