Manager Dave Roberts said May (back) is scheduled to throw against hitters Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander was only briefly shut down from throwing after he landed on the injured list with lower-back tightness Sept. 24, and his return to facing hitters should be one of the final steps in his rehab program. However, Roberts said May isn't guaranteed a spot on the Dodgers' roster for the NLDS, even if he's healthy for the start of the series next week.

Cobb (7-8) took the loss during Tuesday's 6-2 defeat at the hands of the Padres, allowing one run on seven hits with seven strikeouts in five innings.

Cobb kept San Diego in check aside from one run on two hits in the third inning and departed with the game at a manageable 1-0 deficit; however, the bullpen surrendered four runs in the sixth to cement his second loss in three starts. The 34-year-old induced an impressive 16 swinging strikes on just 73 pitches to post his 11th start with at least seven strikeouts, easily surpassing his previous career high of seven such starts set in 2013. He finishes the season with a 3.73 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 151 strikeouts in 149.2 innings across 28 starts.

Suarez (10-7) allowed six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over three innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Astros.

Suarez received virtually no support, as the Phillies didn't record a hit until the ninth inning. The southpaw also yielded three home runs over the first two innings to account for all six runs on his line. Suarez had put up quality starts in his three most recent starts before the poor ending to his season. He record a 3.65 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 129:58 K:BB across 155.1 innings through 29 starts this year, his first as a full-time starter.

Gallen (12-4) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings against the Brewers. He struck out six.

Gallen was not at his best Tuesday as he allowed two home runs for the only the second time this season and completed fewer than six innings for just the second time in his last 11 starts. The three walks allowed also tied his season high. Despite the rough go to end the year, his season was one to remember. He wraps up the campaign with a 2.54 ERA and 192 strikeouts over 184 innings.

Lauer (11-7) earned the win Tuesday, allowing no hits and four walks over six scoreless innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out seven.

In his last start of the season, Lauer turned one of his best, as he did not allow a hit for the first time in 2022. Despite the no-hit possibility, the southpaw was pulled after six innings, as he walked four batters and his pitch count ran up to 97.

Davis was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old didn't make his big-league debut while up with the Rockies for a week in September, but he'll rejoin the active roster for the final stretch of the season with Chad Kuhl (triceps) headed to the injured list. Davis posted a 5.41 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 154:62 K:BB in 138 innings between Double-A Hartford and Albuquerque this year, and he's a candidate to fill Kuhl's spot in the starting rotation for Wednesday's season finale against the Dodgers.

Brubaker (arm) allowed three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out two in an 8-7 extra-inning loss Tuesday against St. Louis. He did not factor into the decision.

In his first start since Sept. 15, Brubaker cruised through the first two innings, allowing one walk. In the third, he gave up four singles and three runs came around to score before he was removed with two outs. It was an up-and-down season for the 28-year-old but he finished the year with a career-best 4.69 ERA, 144 innings pitched and 147 strikeouts.

Flaherty struck out one and allowed a hit in one relief inning in an 8-7 extra-inning win Tuesday in Pittsburgh. He did not factor into the decision.

Flaherty was expected to throw multiple innings and roughly 45 pitches Tuesday but ended up tossing just 19 pitches in his one frame. Since returning from a shoulder injury at the beginning of September, he has a 3.86 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 27:13 K:BB in 28 innings across six appearances. He is likely to get the start in Game 3 of the NL Wild Card series if that game is necessary.

Garrett (3-7) was tagged with the loss after he pitched 4.2 innings, surrendering two runs on six hits and five walks while striking out seven Tuesday versus Atlanta.

Garrett struggled to keep Atlanta off the basepaths, allowing 11 to reach base in the contest. He gave up one run in the second inning before William Contreras notched an RBI single in the top of the fifth, ending the left-hander's day with two outs in the frame. Garrett allowed two or fewer runs for the fifth consecutive start, finishing the season with a 3.58 ERA and 1.25 WHIP while striking out 90 batters over 88 innings in 17 starts.

Odorizzi (6-6) got the win after he tossed five innings, giving up one run on two hits and a walk while striking out seven in Tuesday's victory against the Marlins.

Odorizzi pitched three scoreless frames to open Tuesday's outing before surrendering a solo home run to Jesus Sanchez in the fourth inning. The long ball accounted for the only blemish on his line while his seven strikeouts were his highest total since Aug. 22. The right-hander will finish the regular season with a 4.40 ERA and 1.33 WHIP while striking out 86 batters over 106.1 innings in 22 starts.
