Manager Derek Shelton said Eickhoff will be called up from Triple-A Indianapolis to start Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.

The Pirates will likely make the transaction official at some point after Tuesday's contest. Eickhoff will be joining the rotation as a replacement for Zach Thompson, who was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with right forearm nerve inflammation. Over his 13 outings (six starts) with Indianapolis this season, Eickhoff has turned in a 4.84 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 47:15 K:BB across 48.1 innings.

Sanchez (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a 20-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The activity represents another incremental step forward for Sanchez, who was recently cleared to play catch off a mound but hadn't thrown any pitches. He'll likely need to complete several bullpen sessions featuring his full arsenal before the Marlins allow him to face hitters in live batting practice. Given the multiple hurdles Sanchez still has to clear in his recovery from shoulder surgery, he may not be cleared to pitch in 2022, even at the minor-league level.

Meyer (elbow) will be activated from Triple-A Jacksonville's 7-day injured Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Meyer is scheduled to pitch for Jacksonville on Wednesday for the first time since May 17, but it's unclear if he'll start or work out of the bullpen. Edward Cabrera (elbow) is scheduled to make a rehab appearance for Jacksonville on Wednesday, and the Marlins could elect to have Cabrera pitch ahead of Meyer to better manage his workload. In any case, Meyer looks to be healthy again after a month-long shutdown due to a sore right elbow. The 23-year-old was sharp during his lone rehab start for Single-A Jupiter on July 17, striking out four while allowing one earned run on one hit and no walks over three innings.

Cabrera (elbow) is scheduled to make a rehab appearance Wednesday for Triple-A Jacksonville, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Cabrera will take the mound 10 days after making his last start with the Marlins and subsequently being placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow tightness. In light of his quick return to game action, Cabrera may need only one rehab start before getting the green light to rejoin the Miami rotation as soon as next week's series in St. Louis. Braxton Garrett or Daniel Castano will lose out on a rotation spot once Cabrera is formally reinstated from the IL.

DeSclafani (ankle) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and is starting Tuesday's game against Atlanta.

The 32-year-old was previously confirmed as Tuesday's starting pitcher, and he's now officially back on San Francisco's active roster. DeSclafani has been sidelined by ankle inflammation for the past two months, and he figures to face some workload limitations in his first couple outings back from the injury since he covered only 2.2 innings during his final rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento.

The Reds transferred Lodolo (back) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.

Lodolo hasn't pitched for the Reds since April 24 and wasn't on track to be activated from the 10-day IL in fewer than 60 days, so the transaction won't affect his timeline. Instead, the move is merely procedural, as it clears a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder Donovan Solano (hamstring), who was reinstated from the 60-day IL. Lodolo is set to make his third rehab start at Triple-A Louisville later this week, and if all goes well, he could be activated from the IL and slot back into Cincinnati's rotation at some point during the final few days of June.

Buehler (elbow) was moved to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

The move comes as no surprise, as Buehler seems to be tracking toward a return in September at best as he works his way back from both a flexor strain and surgery to remove a bone spur in his right elbow. He isn't expected to pick up a baseball for at least another month. His spot on the 40-man roster will be filled by Trayce Thompson, whose contract was selected Tuesday.

The Pirates plan to call up Eickhoff from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Eickhoff will join the Pirates after producing a 4.84 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 47 strikeouts over 48.1 innings while appearing in 13 games (six starts) for Indianapolis. He's expected to handle a hybrid role out of the Pirates' bullpen, but if he isn't needed in long relief during Tuesday's game against the Cubs, he could start Wednesday to fill the vacancy in the Pittsburgh rotation.

The Nationals optioned Adon to Triple-A Rochester on Saturday.

Adon was returned to the minors one day after he was summoned from Rochester to make a spot start during the Nationals' doubleheader Friday with the Phillies. Though he tied his season high with six strikeouts in the outing, he gave up four runs on seven hits and a walk and was dealt his league-high 11th loss. Adon will now make regular turns in the Triple-A rotation with the Nationals having settled on Paolo Espino and Jackson Tetreault as the back-end options in its rotation until at least one of Stephen Strasburg (ribs) or Anibal Sanchez (neck) returns from the injured list.

Fried did not factor in the decision against San Francisco on Monday despite allowing only one run on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven innings.

Fried was nearly untouchable in the outing, holding the Giants scoreless through seven innings. However, he allowed three straight batters to reach base in the eighth and was tagged with one earned run in the frame. Fried has yielded one or zero runs in four of his past five contests and has gone 3-0 over that stretch. He's 7-2 on the campaign with a 2.77 ERA, 1.05 WHIIP and 83:15 K:BB across 87.2 innings overall.
