Keller (4-10) did not factor into the decision Thursday, pitching six scoreless innings while giving up six hits with eight strikeouts and zero walks in a loss to the Cubs.

Keller turned in arguably his best start of the season, tying his season high in strikeouts. The right-hander was in line for win No. 5 on the season when he exited, but the Bucs bullpen immediately surrendered the lead. The 25-year-old will take a 6.23 ERA into his next start, likely coming next week against Detroit.

Alcantara (8-13) took the loss Thursday against the Mets, giving up four runs on eight hits with six strikeouts over 6.1 innings.

Alcantara was staked to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Mets chipped away with a Jonathan Villar solo homer in the bottom of the frame, two more runs in the fourth -- including one on an Alcantara balk -- and a Dominic Smith RBI single in the seventh. Alcantara has managed to work into at least the seventh inning in seven of his last eight starts, but he's won just two of those outings. He'll take a 3.36 ERA and 164:47 K:BB over 171.2 innings into his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to come at home against the same Mets squad next week.

Carrasco yielded three runs on four hits and a walk over 5.1 innings in Thursday's no-decision against the Marlins. He had five strikeouts.

Miami pounced on Carrasco for a pair of runs in the first inning, including a Miguel Rojas leadoff homer, but the veteran righty settled in after that. He put up zeroes for the next four frames until running into trouble again in the sixth, and a third run was eventually charged to Carrasco when reliever Aaron Loup walked in an inherited runner. Carrasco (0-2) has a 6.59 ERA and is still looking for his first win as a Met after seven starts.

Webb completed seven innings in a no-decision Thursday against Milwaukee, allowing one run on four hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts.

The 24-year-old matched his season high for strikeouts but still came away with a no-decision after turning a 1-1 affair over to the bullpen. The lone blemish on his line was a Jace Peterson RBI single in the fourth inning that tied the game. Webb has seen an uptick in his strikeout numbers since early August, whiffing 48 over 39.1 innings in six starts during that stretch. He lines up to face the Rockies at Coors Field in his next scheduled start.

Lauer allowed one run on three hits and a walk over seven innings in Thursday's no-decision against the Giants. He had four strikeouts.

Lauer put together his longest start of the season, going seven full innings for the first time since June 2019. After giving up a leadoff homer to Austin Slater to start the game, followed by a Darin Ruf walk three batters later, Lauer yielded just one baserunner the rest of the way, and that was the result of a Jace Peterson error. Lauer has just one win (1-2) in his last eight outings, but he's posted a 2.54 ERA during that stretch.

DeSclafani is scheduled to start Friday against the Dodgers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

There was some concern about DeSclafani's status after he left his last start early and walked off with a trainer, but manager Gabe Kapler said at the time DeSclafani's early exit was not injury-related, and it indeed turns out he will not miss a trip through the rotation. DeSclafani owns a quality 3.38 ERA on the season, but he has been hit hard by the Dodgers, who have tallied 22 runs and six homers over 21 innings against him this year.

Gray (forearm) is expected to throw a simulated game Saturday, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports.

Gray landed on the 10-day injured list with right forearm tightness Wednesday, but it's encouraging to see him face hitters shortly after his placement on the IL. The Rockies were initially hopeful that the righty would be able to make his next start after he sustained his injury Aug. 28, so he could be in line for a brief absence. However, a better idea of Gray's status will likely be revealed based on how his forearm responds after Saturday's throwing session.

Freeland received an injection to alleviate inflammation in his hip Thursday and is expected to be ready for his next turn through the rotation, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Freeland exited Wednesday's start after five batters due to a left hip impingement, but he may not be forced to miss his next start after receiving treatment. The left-hander tentatively lines up to face the Giants early next week, and he should throw a bullpen session over the weekend to gain final clearance.

Nola surrendered six runs on six hits and a pair of walks while striking out five across four innings during Thursday's win over the Nationals. He did not factor into the decision.

Nola continued his hot-cold season with a rough outing against the Nationals. The right-hander left the game in line for the loss but was rescued by his offense in the eighth inning. Nola gave up a pair of two-out homers to Lane Thomas and Juan Soto, raising his season total to 13. Meanwhile, it was the third time over his last five starts that he failed to complete at least five innings. Nola will look to rebound during his next tentative start Tuesday at Milwaukee.

Fried didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Dodgers after allowing two runs on three hits and a walk across six innings, fanning nine.

Fried tied a season-high mark in strikeouts and recorded his seventh straight quality start, and while it wasn't enough to tame the Dodgers, it allowed him to continue his stellar run of form. He owns a blistering 1.62 ERA with a 0.79 WHIP and an excellent 37:3 K:BB through 39 innings (six outings) since the beginning of August.
